The Critic replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) and this game is OVA!!!! -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Nope, he shaves his head AND also happens to be black, THAT'S the resemeblance. He is black????
-
Bah. Time for Paul to do some damage.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) They have out-played us today. I think hitting is about the same, their starters are better, and bullpens are about same. I would give them the edge. That's fine. Boston is a very talented team, I just think the White Sox are better. Are they playing better today? no. Do they have questions to address? sure. I'm not prepared to s*** all over them right now.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) This is not about bounces. Jesus, they're just better than we are. Settle. I am referring to this game, singularly. When a White Sox player hits a dribbler up the middle, a Red Cub player seems to be there. When they hit one up the middle it seems to always get through. And FWIW, I'm not sold on them being better than the White Sox. This team still has a lot of talent and 3 months' worth of games left. I swear to God, game threads are the breeding ground of knee-jerk hatred.

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) as stupid as this is to say, it just doesnt feel like 2005 anymore. I felt that way on January 1st.... I know what you mean, though.
-
Just doesn't seem to be happening for the Sox today. I hope I'm wrong, but the bounces and drops are all Boston right now.
-
Gotta give the Red Cubs hitters credit for very good plate discipline after two strikes. They're hanging in there, making the Sox pitchers work and they end up getting a good pitch to hit.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Fredy should really consider walking Big Momma the rest of the game. You mean Pig Sloppy?
-
And THAT is nice, too. Tie game, Thome HR!!
-
There's a gift. And some Ozzieball - stolen base, sacrifice, take advantage of a mistake. I like that a lot.
-
Tim McCarver = stupid.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) That's not a formula for winning in the post-season. Well, to be clear, I was talking about today only. It's pretty obvious to me that some work needs to be done before the trade deadline, but I'm not sure how much other teams will want to help the Sox.
-
Dude looks nothing like Jordan. Oh, wait, he shaves his head, too - THAT must be the resemblance.
-
The Sox are just going to have to swing the bats and trust the bullpen.
-
Well, at least there was no stolen base right there....
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) Most definitely. It was just my way of congratulating him for flattening out his swing, as I said he had too much of an uppercut last night. I knew what you meant, fathom. Just agreeing with you.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) For as bad as Dye looked yesterday, he looks great today. That's baseball.
-
Thank you JD! Tie game! Home Run!!!!

Here's what bugs me: Is Coop and the rest of the coaching staff unable to adjust Freddy's delivery to hold runners on a little better, or is Freddy unable to make the adjustment himself? He doesn't seem to ever change his approach with a runner on first - almost zero throws to first to hold the runner, and then it's one look over and the lonnnnnnnng leg-lift. It's laughable to watch anyone and everyone run at will on him.
-
3-1 Wrong Sox on a groundout to Cintron.
-
Freddy really needs his fastball back. He's just not hitting his spots well enough to be a junkballer. Aaaaaaaand, the stolen base parade continues against the longest stretch in the majors. Ugh ugh ugh.
-
Lowell with a 2-run double. Ugh.
-
Wow, that was a bad play. 4 guys in the area for a popup and nobody takes charge? Awful.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) Mick Foley. Terry Funk. Eddie Gilbert. Tommy Dreamer. Steve Austin. Shawn Michaels. Bret Hart. I never liked Flair. I despise Goldberg. Hulk Hogan is a piece of s***. I am a nineties child, born at the end of the eighties, Warrior I think is a douche. My favorite man in wrestling, however, has got to be Heyman. Maybe not a wrestler -- although he managed great, and booked even better -- but he is the MAN as far as I am concerned. And McMahon deserves a spot in hell for what he's done to ECW and for taking Heyman's power away everytime he gives him any. Satan's building an exclusive wing in hell for the McMahon family, for many many many reasons.
