  1. Has anyone else noticed that this year's Sox team never seems to hit-and-run?
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) Here is another meathead double switch. Konkero is out, because Ozzie needed to have a double switch. How about taking Brian Anderson out, putting the pitcher in that spot, and then putting mack in center. We get Mack to leadoff. Ross is not a good leadoff guy, as he swings at everything. Now if we do tie it, we dont have Kong or Thome in the game. Dumb Yeah, that is an odd move. Maybe when you play in Wrigley, you have to do Dusty's only managerial move, the double-switch.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Which of these two scenarios is worse? a.) 1st and 2nd nobody out, well below average hitter fails to get a bunt down. B.) 1st and 2nd one out, one of the best hitters in the league grounds into a double play. Hard to choose when you consider that (a.) directly contributed to (b.).
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) So why is everyone so pessimistic? 2 down, Mabry up. The lack of the fundamentals that won the 2005 team so many games is not there today. That's what has me a little pessimistic. But here's hoping that the Sox can get to Dempster and win this game!
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Let the kid get one in the jet stream, possibly. No. Let the kid help the team. When you're hitting .177, you BETTER be able to drop a bunt. The double play is no longer in play for your slowest runner and a fly ball ties the game.
  6. Ugh. Thanks for the s***ty bunt, Anderson.
  7. That is NOT Ozzieball. C'mon, PK.
  8. The wind giveth and the wind taketh away.
  9. Good eye, JD! It'll hurt more if AJ hurts them anyway! Oh, well, scratch that thought.
  10. Gas Can coming in. HURT HIM, Jermaine!
  11. Were those SWEAR WORDS I saw come out of "Mr. Awe Shucks", Jim Thome?? WOW.
  12. This ump is giving the shin-high strike. Yikes.
  13. Nice to see Eyre get hit hard. Bring in Gas Can and let him take some slapping around too.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Count is struggling a bit, but doesn't deserve to get pissed on. He has been off a little bit as of late and finally got hit around by Pitt (every pitcher has a slump). Garland, while he had a horrid start, I still was confident because he has good command, can go deep into games and really has a good attitude (imo). Buehrle is Buehrle and he'll go through an ocassional few starts where he isn't as strong but you know what you got. Freddy is frustrating because of his velocity issue, but he's picked things up. Vaz, you really can't point to anything (control, not locating a certain pitch) but he's just getting hit and hit hard and his long term attitude in past seasons gives me reason to be worried. But ya, its a game thread and people are usually a bit more reactive (or reactionary) here cause its happening "now" as opposed to being able to have a day or two to sit back and think things over. Yep, that's entirely my point. Folks get too wound up during game threads.
  15. NICE! PK does yard work!!! 5-5!!!
  16. And then when McCarthy struggles, it'll be time for someone else, maybe a trade. And then if the guy the Sox trade for struggles, it'll be "what a horrible trade that was" and we'll all splooge all over the guy they traded away. It gets old. You'd never guess this team was 52-27.
  17. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) is Ramirez a single away from the cycle? Yep.
  18. Wow, Dusty almost woke up and showed emotion, he must be furious.
  19. Do we have a starter that hasn't gotten pissed all over in a game thread? People stomped all over Contreras when he almost lost a game. Fact is, if Ozzie felt the Sox had a better option in the rotation, he'd be in there instead of Vazquez. Sox management must not feel that McCarthy is ready for it yet. Attaboy AJ!
  20. And Fox shows a couple Cubbie douches with their "switcharoo" home run ball to throw back while they keep the real one. HA! And they almost call the douches out on it, until saying they were "smart" to do that.
  21. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Dusty crying about injuries. It's funny, all I could hear Dusty saying is "Please don't fire me, please don't fire me, blahblahblah...." Dusty Baker, Excuse Maker
