  1. Tell us again how amazing Fat Bob is, you Fox assholes.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 08:17 AM) No, we don't have a problem, but Hangar has an obsession, and when he claims things are "proven", it's because he's proven them to himself. All of his "documentation" is subjective at best, and based on his own bias at worst. Yep. Things stated as "proven" are largely opinion, conjecture, speculation, exaggeration and obsession. It's entertaining to a point, but often flies past that point.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 05:22 AM) Anyone listened to the latest Snow Patrol album? Haven't heard the whole album, but I love "Hands Open". Is the rest of the disc similar? I didn't like any of their previous stuff, for what that's worth.
  4. It's very very VERY easy to "predict" that a team won't win the World Series because the only way you're wrong is if the team goes all the way. I'd put at least some stock in what Bernstein said if he had told us all which team WILL win the World Series and why. Here's my prediction, by the way: 29 teams will NOT win the World Series with the teams they've got this year.
  5. I'm completely in the other direction with how games affect me now. I get nowhere near as upset over losses as I did before. I'm happy with the 2005 Series win, and if they don't win it again this year, I can't say I'd be upset. Disappointed? Sure. But not upset. Let's put it this way - even Cliff Pollitte hasn't been able to piss me off.
  6. RIP John. 42 is way too young to go. I feel terrible for his family.
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) I did a CD a few years ago of all the songs that were played in the clubs I went to back in the 80's. Songs I was not a fan of then, but have since then caused me to go back in time. I gave a copy to my sister and it actually brought out tears. Some songs from it: "Halloween" - Ministry "Dig It" - Skinny Puppy "Cities Of Dust" - Siouxie And The Banshees "Time Zone" - John Lydon and Afrika Bambataa "GO!" - Tones On Tail "Eighties" - Killing Joke "Bizaare Love Triangle" - New Order "Work For Love" - Ministry "The Ghost In You" - The Psychedelic Furs "Nemesis" - Shriekback "Read About It" - Midnight Oil And many more that I can't remember right now. I thought you put "World Destruction" by Lydon/Bambataa on the disc you burned for me?
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) That's right, I forgot he was gonna be on, damn I missed it. Going to see them see them Friday?? No, unfortunately. Mandatory overtime at this f***ing useless job killed the idea for me. It's also killing tonight's game for me. And it's killing any chance of my attending my daughter's T-ball game tomorrow night. I really want out of this pile of s*** job.
  9. The zero in between the second and third six means we're gonna be okay. And if you try to put the zero in front of all three sixes, that just ruins the whole thing altogether.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) I'm late as usual, but 'Wolfmother' raawks Sabbath like, you can't go wrong. See, I couldn't get into them. To me it sounds like the worst parts of Black Sabbath, Monster Magnet and Led Zeppelin. I see trucker hats and "vintage" Foghat t-shirts when I hear Wolfmother.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) More info please. Scott Lucas was on Local 101 last night, and he played a cover of some Pink Floyd song. I can't remember what it's called, but it was dreadful. Scott started mimicking their vocal style while he was singing, and the song just limped along at that meandering Pink Floyd pace. No tempo at all, just a really bad choice for a cover IMO. It was brutal. But the rest of the interview/performance was really good. Scott usually picks interesting songs to cover, but that was just not a good fit for him/them.
  12. Even when Local H cover their songs, Pink Floyd suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
  13. Maybe I'm Amazed is not a Beatles song. So this thread therefore sucks.
  14. Grohl drummed with Bad Compaqueen on that VH1 Rock Honors show. That show proved one thing - ONLY Rob Halford can still sing his older material. Paul Rodgers did a fair job at covering Queen, although it still sounds weird to me and likely always will. Joe Elliott sounded like s***. Paul Stanley sounded like monkey s***, although Gene, Fake Peter and Fake Ace had some decent backup vocals going on. All in all, not a very good show at all IMO.
  15. I won't go so far as to say Oasis is "better than" the Beatles, but at this point in time I like more Oasis songs than Beatles songs, if only because I'm completely sick of 99% of Beatles songs. Heard them too many times for too many years.

    Home Phone

Traditional phone at home. I don't want a cell phone. My wife has one for emergencies.
  17. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060529/ap_en_mo/obit_gleason "You mess with the bull, you get the HORNS!" RIP Paul
  18. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 26, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) Isnt his ERA 6(runs) x 3(outs) x 9(innings) = 162.00 ERA? I thought it was 6(runs) x 9(innings) = 54.00 ERA?
  19. QUOTE(bmags @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) its cool to say you hate dave grohl because he's popular and i only listen to obscure icelandic ambient sounds made by strangled cats. soxtalk opinion: The Dismemberment Plan Maaaaaaaan, the strangled cats have TOTALLY sold out!!! I remember seeing them in a dirty, smelly alley back in the DAY, and there were only 4 fans there, and two of them were the OTHER cats' girlfriends! NOW they're playing big roomy parks, in broad daylight, and all kinds of KIDS are watching them. They have totally lost their cred.....f***in' sellouts, maaaaaan, that's what they are....... Now if you want to hear something REAL, there's this one-winged, legless pigeon down the block!! Now THAT bird can sing!!! [/green]
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 25, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) I don't give a damn about the velocity, Jesus Christ himself couldn't have hit the s*** he was throwing up there last night. Bobby is fine as long as he has CONTROL, that is what matters for him. "Are you saying that Jesus Christ couldn't hit a curve ball?????" "ahh luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv Major League............."
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Haha! I enjoyed JOOTG!! Yeah, but not for the music!! ....right???....
  22. Happy Early 37th Birthday Wishes, Kid!!!
  23. Holy Jesus, that is dismal. That sounds like it should be on the soundtrack of "Just One Of The Guys" or some s*** 80's movie like that.
  24. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ May 22, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) This happens all the time in rock/pop music, it's just usually nobody picks up on it. I don't think it was intentional. Another example of this sort of thing I actually just noticed recently. I was listening to Green Day's Nimrod album(ok, stop laughing jerks) and the song 'Scattered' sounds almost exactly like the old America song 'Sister Golden Hair.' You can find hundreds of examples like this, if you had the time and resources. The entire American Idiot disc is like a tribute album. They "borrow" tons of riffs, from Siouxsie and the Banshees to Oasis to Motley Crue and tons more that I can't remember off the top of my head. And it does indeed happen all the time - the most recent one I can think of is "Wings Of A Butterfly" by HIM lifting the riff from Tom Petty's "A Woman In Love".
