  1. QUOTE(bmags @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) the single was the worst song on the album...i think its their best album since Yield but that said i'm tired of pearl jams sound. It sounds old. but he had a unique voice, if radio was myriad David Coverdales i'm sure you'd change your tune. I'd take a myriad of Ronnie James Dios... Actually, no I wouldn't. Some of my favorite singers can't "sing" - John Lydon, Doc Neeson, Lemmy, James Hetfield ( drunken growling James, not dried-up, dried-out, post-therapy crooning James ). Some could sing okay, but not great singers ( Phil Lynott, Bob Geldof, Paul Westerberg ). Some are really good, I think ( Geoff Tate, Dio, Rob Halford ). It's all about style and how the voice fits the music for me.
  2. My only expectation is that the Sox will be in contention for the division title. After that, everything is kind of a crapshoot. Breaks, luck, the stars aligning, whatever you want to call it. I just want them to get back into the playoffs. Things will take care of themselves after that.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) I'm not really a Pearl Jam fan, but I keep hearing good things about the new disc. Anyone give it a listen yet? It's not bad, it's a little "rougher" sounding, production-wise, than some of their other stuff. I find it kind of forgettable, aside from Unemployable, Life Wasted and World Wide Suicide.
  4. Maybe he's not gettin' any at home anymore? :rolly
  5. Just did it and they had two pretty decent seats for Friday. Section 518, row 15. If I cared about the "rivalry" anymore, I might've picked them up.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ May 15, 2006 -> 05:55 PM) Police on my back - The Clash (Been running Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday...) Nicely played.
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 15, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Rex. Did you not read the thread? Everyone here seems to agree that these people need to be tortured and killed. That's what he meant - we need MORE stuff to agree on in the Filibuster, so he moved this here. Because we all agree that these s***bags need to be severely beaten.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) Im also waiting for his instructional video on "How to Find the Real Killers". Shot, of course, from lovely Pebble Beach Golf Course. Well, OJ obviously believes that the real killer loves to golf. It's a pretty solid theory, actually, since I also believe Nicole and Ron's real killer loves to golf.
  9. Monday Morning - Fleetwood Mac Tuesday Morning - The Pogues Wednesday - ? Thursday - ? Friday Night - The Darkness Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - Elton John We Don't Celebrate Sundays - Hardcore Superstar
  10. Didn't see this mentioned anywhere, forgive me if it was. Just heard on Mike and Mike that Mark is the first pitcher in 106 years to give up 7 runs in the 1st inning and still go on to win the game. Kind of a "bad news/good news" stat, huh? I'm sure Mark doesn't ever want to be involved in that kind of stat again.
  11. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 14, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Right now I am listening to probably the biggest of the original Thunders rip-off artists: The Sex Pistols. Still a good CD, but amazing how it has tamed over the years. Once it was all aggression, now it's just some cool riffs with some nice lyrics. Never Mind The Bollocks will always be on any "Top 10 albums" list of mine. Whenever I hear it, it's still 1977 in my mind and I still hear the aggression in every note. I understand what you're saying about it "taming" in the face of everything that's come since, but it will really never tame to my ears. Just a great disc to listen to, and one of the records that changed the way I hear rock music.
  12. Hanging around all day with Bill Murray doesn't affect blood sugar levels, but it CAN affect blood alcohol levels.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 12, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Well, what do you expect from a guy who searched for "the real killers" on a golf course. Its alright though. Nicole Brown is going to be waiting for him in hell with that same sword he used on her and he's going to got hacked to pieces over and over and over again forever and all time. Nicole Brown went to hell?
  14. They didn't stick around today! That place was empty in the 7th through 9th. Can't blame them, though - crap weather + crap game = go to the bar. Quote of the Day from Dead Man(ager) Walking ( can't believe I just quoted Jaybird Moronotti ) "That wasn't fundamentals, those were just errors". HUH????
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 12, 2006 -> 07:52 AM) They do make CD's and other things so that you can bring your music with you and you don't have to listen to the radio. Just letting you in on a secret. Thanks for the insight, Copernicus! I get bored bringing the same tunes with me all the time. When I get my iCrap for my birthday, I'll bring my whole collection with me and then I won't listen to the radio as much. But I'll still bring my little Walkman, because I like to hear the news of the day and I have no intention of subscribing to podcasts.
  16. Congrats on the little Kaplet!!! Continued health and happiness to all of you!!!
  17. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 11, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) What happened to Fuel's previous lead singer? He quit the band, I never heard why. His cousin is Johnnie Putnam from WGN's overnight radio show, and she keeps saying what an idiot she thinks he is for quitting the band. But she didn't say why either, at least not that I heard. (and YEAH, YEAH, I listen to GN's overnight show a little.....it's hard to listen to David Stein on SCR or Jason Smith on MVP for very long, so I do a lot of channel-flipping on the train.)
  18. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) did he break his nose? Was there blood? Sorry had to ask. Yeah, blood on the outside of the nose and Aaron was spitting blood a little bit. Probably just dripped into his mouth. They reported it as definitely a broken nose.
  19. Aaron made a great running catch with the bases loaded, but ran face-first into the wall and busted his nose. Called "Crash" for a reason, eh? Heal up soon, A-Row!
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 11, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Ya, I haven't seen a post about a show in some time. They know that s*** don't work without me....
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 11, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) I remember one time he did....it was quite the SNR show. Speaking of the SnR guys, they've really slowed their schedule, haven't they? (Sorry to threadjack Ian's birthday wishes, but f*** him anyway..... )
  22. Yeah, happy birthday, ya little bastard!!! (repeat until nauseous) I don't think you drink alcohol yet, do ya? If not, start tonight!!!
  23. For what it's worth, Chris is going to become the new singer for Fuel. They've struck a deal to buy out Chris' AI contract so he can record the new disc and then tour. There's some debate whether AI will allow this to happen until the summer tour ends. I like Fuel a lot, but I've never heard this guy sing. I hope he fits Fuel's sound.
  24. There are few things funnier in sports than watching Barry Bonds attempt to play defense.
  25. I love how they fall right in line with the whole "Bartman Curse" thing. Yep, a foul ball triggered an 8-run inning.....uh huh......
