  1. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) So now I know what it feels like to have my heart ripped out of my chest, stomped on, kicked, and thrown into the garbage can. Not fun. And I had to turn down a chance to go to tonight's game because of it. The best cure for a ripped out/stomped on/kicked/garbaged heart is a Sox game. Remember that next time. Sorry to hear about the heartbreak. It DOES get better, though. It may not seem like it will, but it does.
  2. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:42 AM) You should DL "Whered you go" by Fort Minor Awesome song Heard that song on Q101 a couple weeks ago. It's an okay song, but I don't really want to own it.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) You can get a few different hoodies at the main gift shop at the Cell. I'm looking for one too. They all say 'White Sox' across the chest, the problem is that the W and the X get cut off under your arms when you have it on. That's why I didn't buy any of the ones I saw there. Then YOU, SIR, are definitely NOT a true "HITE SO" fan!!!!
  4. Depends on the situation. I work overnights on Sundays, so if I get approached on the way back to the car at 2 or 3am, I generally give something. During the day, not usually. One time I was wearing a Reds batting practice jersey and this guy walks up to me ( seemed to be enjoying some "adult beverages" along the way ) and says "YES!!! THE BIG RED MACHINE!!! OHhhh, man, I remember THAT team, boy!!! There was Joe Bench.....and Charlie Hustle.....and Johnny Perez......and MORGAN. Man, those boys could PLAY SOME BALL!!!" So I'm just smiling and chatting a little, trying to ease my way outta there, when he pulls a beat-up Streetwise out of his jacket and says "Can one Reds fan help another one out?" He got me, I expected a "request" for some cash, but not the Streetwise! I gave him two bucks - one for the paper and one for the act!
  5. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 09:03 AM) I guess his contract talks have taken a twist, eh? Whose? Lee's? Lee signed a 5-year, $65 million extension a few weeks ago.
  6. He's definitely compromising his swing to compensate for the knee and elbow problems. I don't think he cares about passing Aaron anyway - it's always been about passing Ruth. He'll hang around as long as it takes to get to 715, then anything after that up to and until 756 is gravy for him. If he has to hang 'em up in 2nd place, I think he'd be okay with it. I know a LOT of baseball fans would be okay with that too, if his finishing 3rd is out of the equation. I have a ton of respect for Henry Aaron, and absolutely none for Barry Bonds. IMO it would be a disservice to baseball to have a self-serving, hateful, bitter, jealous, spiteful, angry man like Bonds pass a classy, humble gentleman like Aaron for the all-time HR title.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 06:45 AM) Lee certainly isnt done, but 2006 might be a wash for him all together. Everyone is talking 8-10 weeks, but 8-10 weeks until what? Until he gets the cast off? Until he can swing a bat agian? 8-10 weeks before he is back in the lineup? He is going to need some time to get that wrist back at playing shape, then he is going to have to get his swing back rather quickly. Who knows how long rehab could take, along with a minor league stint. FWIW, the 8-10 weeks was described as 6 weeks in a cast, then 2-4 weeks to get back into the lineup. But as you mentioned, just being back in the lineup doesn't take into account how his swing will be when he returns. It would be silly to assume that he'd come back mashing right away. This injury definitely damages the Cubs' chances in the NL Central. IF they get any of their injured starters back healthy and throwing well, that could offset the loss of Lee to a certain degree and keep them in the race. Ramirez is going to have to step it up, and Walker's going to have to remain hot for them to muddle through until their best hitter returns.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) Exactly, and who puts in a bunch of hot peppers in their sloppy joes or taco meat? http://www.g6csy.net/chile/recp-texas.html Hell, we invented the stuff, we should know which fixin's go into it. I'm guessing y'all that put beans in it, also just use some pre-packaged, bland "chili powder" or packaged seasonings and cook it in less than 3 or 4 hours. You are correct then you will need some beans or anything to fix that up, but y'all got a mess to begin with. Now if you are going to slow cook your chili, with fresh herbs and spices, along with some dried. Use a good chuck of meat, filet wouldn't be unheard of, and finely cube it. Time your seasoning "dumps" throughout the all day cooking process to achieve a depth of flavors, add several chilis and peppers to again, broaden the range and depth of your chili. Then you will see why beans would be an insult to the dish. Nahhhh, you just know what ORIGINALLY went into chili..... A few of those recipes sound real good.....as long as I throw some beans in there....and some mushrooms..... Chili without beans, at least for me, just means spicy beef soup.
  9. The cynic in me wonders if the statues are a way to get the honorees off the outfield wall to clear space for advertising....
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 06:28 AM) Good, now sign Buehrle to a long term deal. But duuuuude, he wants to play for the Cardinals!!! HE SAID SO!!!!
  11. It'd be a nice excuse to get out to see a Cardinals game at New Busch. Although I'd probably end up settling for a Royals game, since almost every game at NB is sold out. Still, I'd rather have a round trip airline ticket than Matthew Barnaby's jersey, that's for sure. (the LackHawks had their players "give the shirts off their backs" to winning fans at their Fan Appreciation Night)
  12. Ironic that he can pitch while being swollen almost everywhere else on his body (face, gut, legs, ankles) but a swollen shoulder shuts him down.
  13. Chili minus beans equals Sloppy Joe.
  14. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvs me some beans in my chili. Of course, I'm not making any "authentic" chili, so I don't care. And I also like ketchup on hot dogs. Food Snobs be DAMNED!!!!!!!!
  15. I think no matter what date the Sox chose, there'd be people who couldn't or wouldn't go to that date. Too early in the season, too late in the season, crappy opponent, can't do a Monday, can't do a Thursday, you're going to hear reasons or excuses why people will choose not to attend. I'm a little surprised that this COTC is selling so much worse than last year's, considering it happens on the day Big Frank returns to Chicago. But maybe that actually contributes to the low turnout - perhaps people who already have tickets don't feel that an extra 30 for the COTC part alone is worth it.
  16. I really hope the playoffs kick-start my interest in hockey again, because I've cared less about it than I can ever remember. Aside from the Wings, I haven't even had a strong rooting interest in any team this year.

    iPod Question

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) I have a few Nono questions related to charging. I only have the cable that allows me to charge it through my lap top. Why the Eff does it take so long to charge? Is it faster with an AC charger? Also, if I'm not actually working on my laptop, it of course goes into 'sleep' mode and then apparently stops charging the Nano. I hooked it up one night, went to bed, the laptop went into 'sleep' mode, got up the next day, checked it and it had very little juice in it. Why does it de-charge even if I don't play it? I fully jucied it and took it with me on a weekend trip but never played it. When I got back home on Monday, it was totally dead. How is that possible? How long should it play when fully juiced? I think I'm lucky to get two hours. My wife tells me that putting her iPod on "hold" with that little switch at the top of the thing extends the life of the battery. I don't know if it does or not, but she is asking me to charge it for her less often. It sounds like you have a defective iPod, though. I'd take it back if you still have warranty time left on it.
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) I got a nice little thrill to walk right past Farmer as he sat there with his pen in his hand reaching toward me like I wanted his autograph. :finger HAHA, you're the King, LMB!!!!
  19. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) God or the Girl?????????? What?????? Dopey f***ing show. Saw a few minutes of this today, and I was convinced that one guy was more interested in the priest than his girlfriend.
  20. AJ has the patented Paul Konerko Suicide Shrug down pat. Paulie hasn't had a chance to use it with his hot start and all, so he handed it down to AJ.
  21. Meanwhile, another student-f***er goes back to jail: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12289591/ Of interest to rasslin' fans, this teacher was also named Miss Monday Nitro back in 1997, when wCw held a fan beauty contest at Panama City Beach during Spring Break. PLUS, she was using MySpace to violate the agreement she made with police not to contact the student or use the Internet, so she's like Miss Current Events now.

    Easter Dinner

Just had Easter dinner. Ham, turkey, broccoli with hollandaise sauce, cheesy potatoes, stuffing, corn salad and buttered rolls. Now I need about a 16-hour nap.
  23. I just thought after the spring he had, some of that would carry over into the season. He just looks absolutely clueless up there right now. It's hard to watch.
  24. I don't think there is any alphabetical seating. Sounds like you got a shot at some foul balls, but DON'T touch a ball in play!!
  25. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) That's the key. It's further off center. It skews the viewpoint of the viewer when "calling balls and strikes" as compared to the 'normal' view. Yeah, I know what you're saying. It adds a few more "Where the f*** was THAT????"s to my viewing experience, but overall I'm not too bothered by it. b****ing about umpires is half the fun, anyway...
