  1. QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) It's not the chemistry that's the problem. It's Singleton's voice. Some people have an energetic voice, and others don't. They both have droopy, dreary voices and that just doesn't work.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 10, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) And as bad as Hawk is, I can still stomach him before ever daring to listen to the soothing sounds of Singleton. I just listened to some of the Score game call while throwing out the trash. They were calling him "Hagar" and talking about obeying speed limits. I don't mind Hawk at all after that.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) I'm thinking ABC wouldn't be televising it then, ya know? The production was totally for the TV audience. For those that can remember the days of Evil Knievel, his jumps lasted 45 seconds, but they had to build it up. His specials were at least an hour long for a 45-second motorcycle jump. Same difference. Speaking of Evel Knievel, can that dude love himself more??? Someone please remind him that every jump ended with him bouncing off pavement and breaking 30 or 40 bones. Toonces the Cat was a better driver.
  4. I like that guy who chickened out of trying for JD's homer last night! "I got it, I got it, I......AYE AYE AYE!!!!!!"
  5. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) I've thrown a few knuckleballs before, and let me stress the few part. Lol. But, I have a semi-serious shoulder problem, and everything hurts after about 20-25 pitches, so I really have no idea about how much more stress there is. Maybe YOU should take up golf, then....
  6. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Oh, I guess I had no idea the difference on the arm strain. My bad. Basically, you grab into the ball with your fingernails and kinda push it towards the plate. It grabs a wind stream and goes wherever the breeze takes it. Very easy on the arm, but extremely hard to control.
  7. Santana gets the call that Haeger didn't.
  8. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) With him being a rookie, I imagine he'll only be allowed to throw 85-90 pitches. Hes at 29 already. Hope B-Mac is game tonight. I wonder if they'll put a pitch count on a knuckleballer? The pitch puts virtually zero strain on the arm. I'd guess that Oz and Coop will be more concerned with situations than pitch counts.
  9. He may have 40 walks in 20 innings if he stays up in Chicago.
  10. f***, kid coulda thrown a knuckler to 2nd and picked Cabrera off that first time.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) I guess the scouting report is to take. Not for Vlad. He's getting his hacks.
  12. Seems to be getting the "rookie strike zone" when he is close, though. Although I'd think it's gotta be tough to call balls and strikes on a knuckler.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) His knuckler seems too fast, and it's not having time to break. I was thinking that, too. It seems to only make one move.
  14. QUOTE(beautox @ May 10, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) funny that you mention that because i emailed him calling him and Comcast Sports Nets "luke a like" an unorginal hack with regards to that statement and I received a response from Richard Roeper, informing me he has "written 3,000 columns, 500 magazine articles and six books. i don't troll the internet looking for items to steal." So apparently he is above trolling and that was an orginal thought :rolly and also i used the wrong form of your, its you're an unoriginal hack and not your an unoriginal hack in my email, woops. The only surprise in Roeper's response to you was that he didn't give exact numbers of articles and columns.
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:31 AM) They recommend 8 hours of sleep per night. EIGHT HOURS??!! That's 1/3 of your life spent in a state not far from death. Ahhhhh, just you WAIT, young man!! You sound a lot like a young Critic (back in the stone age). I used to get 4 hours of sleep per night and that was just fine by me! Games to play, shows to see, chicks to chase, I had life by the horns!!! WHO NEEDS SLEEP???? NOW - hanging on to my once-illustrious softball career by the thinnest of threads, haven't seen a concert (or WANTED to ) in over a year, caught the chick and had a little one! Now life has ME by the short ones and I NEED SLEEP!!!! Sleep, Glorious Sleep!!!! 8 hours would be a GOOD START!!!!
  16. That circus music you always hear. (DAH dah dahdeedahdee dah dahdahhhhdah)
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 9, 2006 -> 07:48 AM) I thought it was a Roadhouse reference. Wouldn't know, never saw the movie. I got the soundtrack for Jeff Healey's version of When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky, which I think is great. Of course, I got the goddamned thing on cassette, which means I'll never listen to it again, but it's still a great song.

    Righty? Lefty?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) See, to me, you need the stronger hand on the fork to hold the meat in place down onto the plate. If the blade is sharp enough, it will glide right over the meat and not require a lot of strength. If I swithced hands like you do, my left hand would not be able to hold the meat in place and my right hand would slide the piece of meat off of the plate. You're a freak. I'm sorry to hear that the muscles in your left hand are so severly atrophied that you're unable to hold steady a relatively small cut of meat.

    Righty? Lefty?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) I'm a righty and I don't switch my utensils from hand to hand when I eat. Why do righties do that? Probably because righties feel more comfortable using the right hand for a knife, so they switch the fork to the left. I find myself doing that - switch the fork to the "weak side" when there's cutting to be done, then back to the "main" hand when it's time for the heavy lifting.
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) I hate it when people answer a question with 'should'. "Have you seen Dave?" "He should be in his office." "Has my mail arrived yet?" "It should have" Yeah, I know it SHOULD have, but it's not really the frickin question now is it? Thx, I feel better. You should feel better after venting.
  21. I learned one thing today. Rosenbury and Salisburg can NEVER be as bad as that Colin Coward dolt. I had the severe displeasure of listening to some of that crap while I waited for my daughter to get out of school. (half-day kindergarten, that's why) Absolutely unlistenable - after about 10 minutes I actually tuned over to the Score for RELIEF!!!!!
  22. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 8, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) I know this much, this guy has mastered the art of douchebaggery. And his douchebaggery is NO illusion!
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 8, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) I'll sleep plenty when I'm dead. Wow, a Warren Zevon reference.....nice.....but was it intentional?
