  1. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Details please. Was it to LF, Left Center??? It went over the wall, into the seating area.
  2. MUCH better HR call by Hawk this time!! "That 98mph fastball.....not to be seen again...."
  3. QUOTE(SnB @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) great play AJ, now get a haircut Hey, every night is Mullet Night for AJ!! He and Joe actually look better with longer hair, or so my wife tells me.
  4. QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:42 PM) the tiger announcers weren't much better at crede's homerun call. first post. Welcome! KEN Shamrock4Life?
  5. I am enjoying watching Jim swing the bat VERY much so far. for him to stay healthy all year. We'll be really happy with his numbers if he does.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Hopefully with some time his PBP won't be this bad. He just needs to get more fluid, stop pausing/repeating himself, and that's somethign that will come with practice. That's why he should have been signed to broadcast Charlotte or Birmingham games, while a professional, experienced announcer handles the major-league 'casts.
  7. Nice to see Freddy in the mid-90's with the heater. That's more like it.
  8. ESPN's reporting it as 4 weeks. Either way, tough break (no pun intended) for Cookie Crisp.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 08:17 AM) Happy Birthday to ZoomSlownik, one of our newest writers at TalkBulls.com and a great Soxtalk poster Yes, happy birthday to ZoomSlowNIk from southsLider2k5. And Happy Birthday to ZoomSlowik from The Critic.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) Did we get the classic "Bat slam"? No, he flipped the bat and threw his head back. Not quite Paulie's "suicide shrug", but it was close.
  11. Hawk was caught off-guard because someone other than Jim hit one out. HA!
  12. I kinda like the Sox hockey jersey, but I don't like that football jersey at all.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 08:37 AM) That girl at my job who was taking the water pills... she's in the hospital for kidney failure and extreme dehydration. 5'8" ish and 91lbs. :headshake Thank you Nicole Ritchie. My wife works in a hospital and she has seen some really advanced cases of anorexia and bulimia. Some of the saddest stories I've ever heard. 70 pound women who are convinced that they're obese. I hope someone can help the girl at your work understand that the outside is far less important than the inside.

    QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) Well... I guess now we have the answer to the question that pops into all of our heads when we hear Dubya speak: what the heck is a 'merkin'? That would be funny if it wasn't so hideously offensive.
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) Didn't Rowand drop one? Anderson would've had it.
  16. Somebody needs to get a clip of Hawk's "BRILLIANT!" call on that play. Sounded just like the Guiness guys. HA.
  17. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) Buddy Bell is out of the game. The 3 guys who saw it overruled the one guy who didn't. Like Hawk said, Bell had probably done that exact same thing in his playing days. That's a dumb ejection on his part - he knows that was an out.
  18. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) I have "Toxic" on my Ipod. When i worked at WTAO in Marion we recieved that single, and my PD didnt like it so we never played it. I thought it was awesome though. I agree, it's a great version of an otherwise bad song. Even a s***ty Britney Spears song can be rescued when put in the right hands.
  19. The H is a ton of fun, especially live. Scott also plays in Cisco Pike, who are great as well. I've seen them three times at the Double Door Halloween show, too, and they never disappoint. I think Scott Lukas is an underrated guitarist and songwriter. My favorite H songs are Keep Your Girlfriend Away From Me and All The Kids Are Right.
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) The Didjits are back? Is this temporary or did Simms finally kill off The Gaza Strippers? I told you my connection to them, right? Not sure if it's temporary or permanent. Just read it in Saturday's Sun-Times. I'm sure you told me about it next to the campfire, but you have so many "war stories" that I tend to forget a lot of them. My advanced age, y'know.....
  21. Roger Clemens is either a s*** sandwich or a giant douche.
  22. A big part of why the Pirates gave up on Ramirez was that he was lazy at working on his defense, had a couple injuries slow him down and seemed to quit on the team a little bit. If he had stayed there, I think he'd have busted by now. The trade was a wakeup call for him, and he has answered it ( except for the injury part, that still plagues him ). His defense has improved, although he's no Gold Glove threat. He doesn't make the lazy error on throws as often anymore. His bat will make people more tolerant of what he lacks on defense. The fact is, while most GMs will tell you that the best deals are the ones that help both teams ( something KW is very good at, as we know ), if you're going to do a lopsided deal you may as well end up on the winning end of it. He found desperate trade partners in Pittsburgh and Florida ( even the Willis trade wasn't a real giveaway on the Cubs' part because Willis wasn't projected to arrive that quickly ) and took advantage. We'd canonize KW even more than we do now if he could find someone in that desperate position. I don't care enough about Hendry to argue his case any further than this, I just think he's done a decent enough job of addressing what he sees as the Cubs' weaknesses. They just have too many weaknesses for him to get to them all....
