  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) He's just as bad as Baker, but since the Pirates gave him Ramirez and the Marlins gave him Lee and Pierre for nothing out of desperation to dump expensive players, people don't realize it for some reason. Great news here if you dislike the Cubs. But the Phillies "gave" Thome to the Sox and the D-Backs "gave" Vazquez to the Sox for basically the same reason. Plus, KW once traded for a guy of the wrong name. Does that make KW a bad GM? I don't think so. Hendry made those moves to help his team, regardless of the other team's motives. Any GM who could turn the horrific Todd Hundley into Mark Grudzielanek and Eric Karros is doing something right. He's a decent GM - not a genius, not a hack. He was worth re-upping with.
  2. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Reggie Sanders is next Everyone must pass initiation.
  3. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) The veteran Grudz HAS to be there. That's correct, which means.... Grudz is now officially a Royal as well.
  4. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) man playing like s*** on offense playing amazing on pitching the name of the game we need is consistency! So you want consistently s***ty offense?
  5. Not surprised one bit. Randy Orton is an asshole. As far as wrestling goes, he's a decent worker who wouldn't recognize an effective promo if it kicked him in the balls. Didn't deserve his title reign, won't deserve the one he gets after the suspension.
  6. I think they'll get Lee signed up. Extending Hendry is a decent move. He's a pretty good GM, but I believe that he's under some pressure to make "frugal" moves right now. Hard to believe that cash machine would play "short arms, long pockets", but it seems to be the philosophy lately. Extending Baker would be a disaster for them. He's a terrible manager, and he doesn't seem to care half the time. They'd be well-served to get someone like Piniella. I think that team would respond to Lou - they do have some solid pros like Lee, Barrett, Maddux, Dempster and others, and I think they'd get behind a more demanding bench presence.
  7. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) I don't know if I can stomach watching that either. I do not watch AI, but I might tune in for a few minutes here and there just to see what songs they select. I fear for any of them that think they can take on a "Freddy" song. I have yet to really like any of the Queen remakes I have heard. You liked the one with Paul Rodgers....
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) Hm..I've never seen the video. I'm never watching those channels anymore, but I just heard it on the radio and I've been replaying the song quite a few times. Like I said, you have to take my opinion with a grain of salt, because I've never been a fan of theirs. On a different topic, I see that the Didjits have reunited and will play the Hideout Block Party in September. I may have to drag myself out there to see that.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) After seeing the board for this past week... I would say the old timers might be whiners, but some of the youngins are the b****iest and moodiest things I have seen I think the bad mood is caused by the Sox being mathematically eliminated from the AL Central race. That'll piss anyone off.....
  10. Well, THAT's gonna change. Maybe that's the plan - lose until they're "under the radar" again....
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) What does everyone think about Dani California? That's the new Chili Peppers song, right? I've never liked them, so naturally I hate it. The video was interesting the first time I saw it, but that kind of schticky video tends to get old in a hurry. I like how when they're "themselves" it's supposed to be better than the "old bands" they portray, but they look spastic hopping around to that mid-tempo lite-rock they do now.
  12. I'm not worried because: a. it's been 4 games b. they won the World Series last year, and that's gonna shut me up for a while and c. it's been 4 games While I certainly haven't enjoyed the first week of the season, it IS only the first week of the season. Detroit's not going 162-0, the Sox aren't going 40-122, and the Jndjans aren't going to run away from the division. When it's all said and done, the division race is going to be tight, and the Sox will be in the thick of it. I'm still calm.
  13. She doesn't look "goth" to me at all. To fire her over her looks is messed up, and hopefully actionable in court.
  14. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Ok, I know this is an old thread now, but I have to ask a question... The video montage that was new for this year (they played it Sunday Opening Night), the one BEFORE the Pirates-music one that they played all last year... anyone recognize the music? Sort of subdued, orchestral stuff, not as energetic as the Pirates music but still very cool. I'm a bit of a soundtrack fan, and I know classical music pretty well, but I didnt recognize it. Anyone know what that music was? I'd really like to know. If I was at home right now, you'd have an answer. My wife loves that piece. I'm sure she knows who composed it. All I know is that Ministry used it as an intro on the opening track of Houses Of The Mole.
  15. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) That is a sin dude. You can be shot for putting Katchup on a dog. The worst is when I see people putting it on a Polish w/onions, how dare they. Mustard only!!! I saw a whole big to-do on WSI about this too. Why does anyone care what anyone else puts on their food? Thinking about someone putting ketchup on a hot dog is such a waste of time. Personally, I don't like the "Chicago-style" dog with all that crap falling out of it, but I don't mock anyone who likes it. For the sake of full disclosure, I don't have any particular "musts" for hot dogs - I can enjoy one just the same with any combination of: ketchup mustard tomato slices grilled onions ( not a fan of raw onions ) or I can eat one plain on a bun What's the big deal? I don't get it. EDITED to add: I love chili dogs, too!!! Mmmmmm.......................chili dogs...................
  16. It's already $2.95 for mid-grade by me.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 06:03 AM) Yeah I gotta say I like the Queen theme too. It is going to put pretty much everyone on notice because no one has anything like that kind of a voice. Song choice should be interesting because there is a big variety of styles, but in the big picture, Freddy Mercury never really wrote a "safe" song. Plus I love the music of Queen, so it should be a fun week. I love the music of Queen, so I'll avoid this show even more than I usually do. If I can't handle a solid pro like Paul Rodgers singing Queen songs, I might throw a brick at my TV watching this. ....but you kids have fun....
  18. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 03:16 AM) What the hell is nippling?!? Hey...it's three games into the season...and against a very good Cleveland team. Granted today was a pisser and a blown opportunity...but GEEZ...Broad Stokes guys or you're gonna have a stroke by June. What I saw today was complete over-anxiousness with our 3 and 4 hitters in key situations. Also remember...no Dye and Crede. As Kevin Bacon said, "Remain calm...all is well..." That happens in April, early May, and October, when the weather is a little cold... I think maybe he meant "nibbling".
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) This site has been turning into Fishtalk.com lately and I love it! Sorry about Fishtalk.com, man, but I been havin' me some FISH DRAMA lately... Maybe I should get the fish a little green seat, ask him how Singleton's doing as a radio guy and what he thinks about Barry Bonds and bring this full-circle.
