QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 08:36 AM) This place does not look nearly as nice as Columbus Crews' field. That stadium is awesome, and a very good place to catch a concert. How far away is this place from Downtown? Is public transportation possible? Also how do you go about buying SINGLE game tickets?? ticketmaster 1-888-MLS-FIRE or Toyota Park box office It's located in Bridgeview, a southwest suburb about 30-40 minutes from downtown. Public transportation is kinda sketchy from the city, because Pace bus service blows ass. Pace hardly runs at all after 7pm on weekends.

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) well, good or bad (i claim bad), Rage can be cited for the Rap-Metal trend that occured for about 5 years. The Beastie Boys, Anthrax and Public Enemy unfortunately can be blamed more for the "nu-metal" trend moreso than RATM, I believe.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) What? No comments? Come on fellas, if you were around in the 70's and like your Free, Grand Funk Railroad, Aerosmith etc, listen to The Answer at either of the links above and you will not be disappointed. Think of The Darkness but without the tongue in cheek spandex. They are currently supporting Whitesnake and blowing them away. There debut album (out this week) has been reviewed by Kerrang! magazine who call it the best debut album ever. Sorry, Plod, I didn't like The Answer at all. In the late 70s, I was much more into stuff like UFO, Boston, Thin Lizzy and also the punk bands of that era. Didn't care much for Free, Grand Funk or Aerosmith (except for two songs - Dream On and Draw The Line).

Official Game Thread 6/28 - Sox vs Pirates 6:05
The Critic replied to Controlled Chaos's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Said it before, I'll say it again: That's why they play 9 innings. You can look terrible for 6 innings and then rattle off four straight hits to tie things up. Don't get too high, don't get too low. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) WOW, dragged? I've been trying to see them forever and never have. Yeah, I'm not into it. The wife is. She goes to the stuff I like, so I grit my teeth into a pretty smile and deal with it. But I don't really enjoy it.

Memo to Jim Thome: Please adjust to Inside Pitch
The Critic replied to Hangar18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's called a slump. It happens to everyone. Except Aaron Rowand, of course. It's not a big deal. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) I hate when people tell other people what to do with their time. Bingo. Okay, so let me see if I follow - only sit on a green seat that faces the pitcher's mound, no ketchup on the hot dog, no yelling at someone blocking my view, and stay til the end of the game no matter what my schedule, situation or real life dictates. Am I missing anything?

Thread for people who left the game early tonight!
The Critic replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) Well, I will also say I left the game after the 7th inning. But, as some kind of giving hope, on the train ride back some chick had a cellphone and said they tied it up, so my friends and I got off the train and rode 50 minutes back to the stadium. We got there at the start of the 13th inning, and had to stand in the rain for nearly 25 minutes listening to it. Let's just say, I learned my lesson. I will NEVER, EVER give up on this team again, ever. It was some kind of sign. Sounds to me like they came back after you left, and lost when you returned. I HOPE you've learned your lesson - stay on the damn train next time!!! -
Didn't someone hit two grand slams in one inning before?

He's only doing it for the tax writeoff..... I guess he ignored my email about the "Critic Wants A Bunch Of Expensive s*** Foundation".

Whenever I hear that Blue October pussy whining about his Mom caring about him too much I want to punch him in the throat. A bunch of times. Horrible f***ing song. God damn.

Thread for people who left the game early tonight!
The Critic replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know I'm in the minority here, but I almost always leave early and I have zero problem with it. I have my reasons (3:30 am wakeup for work during the week, have to leave early when I bring my kid, etc.), and I never feel like I "missed out" on anything. I enjoy the ballpark experience while I'm there, and I leave when I have to. I arrive "stupid early", as my friend puts it, so I can watch BP, have some food and chat with whoever comes to the game with me. I like the fact that so many people stuck around tonight, but chances are I wouldn't have been one of them. -
Fairyotti with predictable whining about "light" punishment
The Critic replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) Little *** boy cant take it. He got totally punked by Ozzie and can't do a damn thing about it. See, I take it more as Jay blubbering about "if they don't do anything to Ozzie, I can't write my cheap-shot, lazy, second-hand quotes and facts, hatchet job articles about anyone, or they'll call me names and I'll be afraid of getting punched". He certainly doesn't enjoy the "saying whatever you want about someone with little or no consequence" shoe to be on the other foot... -

As funny as his pants-wetting and crying looks in print, it was 1000 times funnier on the radio this morning. He was on with some guy subbing for John Kincaid on ESPN Radio and he basically sounded like he was going to burst into tears at any moment. Then the host took calls and no matter what the caller said, the guy said "You bring up a very good point". It was excellent comedy for my Sunday morning. -
ST Poll: Does Ozzie Guillen Need Sensitivity Training?
The Critic replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) KW's comments were the smartest words I heard this entire week regarding the Ozzie controversy. Yeah, if only Kenny could have been so rational and measured regarding Frank Thomas. Everyone's got their "hot buttons", I suppose. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) I only care that they are good at baseball. So this is a vote for "other", then?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) The Hawks traded into the 3rd round and picked Swedish center Tony Lagerstrom. Also Craig Anderson has been traded to Florida for a 2008 6th rounder, and according to Comcast Barnaby has been bought out. Thank God. Matthew Barnaby = 0

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Any Cirque De Solei fans here? 'Corteo' is coming to town. I am going to be dragged to it. I saw one of their shows a bunch of years ago, and that was enough for me......or so I thought. I apparently will also take in their Vegas show next year. hooray?

Defense is a big deal. Mack's bat won't matter if he keeps playing outs into doubles. I like Mack, but I think right now he's being overused. Brian is important to this team for his glove, big-time. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) No Pablo? There aren't 25 poll options. Pablo would fall in the "other" category.

Crap. Another tough but catchable ball. 1-1.
