The Silver Cloud Thread from a Raging Pessimist

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) If this is all part of God's plan, does He deserve the blame for that hanging slider Vasquez threw to Monroe? Well, God does deserve the blame, because He created Vazquez, Mackowiak, Ozzie, Buerhle, Cotts, and everyone else that Soxtalk has pissed on this year. BLAME GOD!!!! ....although He, in His wisdom and grace, has ALSO created The Savior, Brandon H. McCarthy!!!!! -
QUOTE(Pods70Rowand33 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:05 AM) Tigers got Sean Casey for a minor league pitcher and sent Chris Shelton down. I saw it on espn.com Babe Ruth Shelton got sent down??? Wasn't he the guy who was gonna hit 130 HR this year????

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Old SNL skit, no? Yeah, but it's backwards. Piscopo was playing Sinatra, so he wouldn't be black. It's "YOU are black and I am white. You're blind as a bat and I have sight." Very funny skit, though.
-
QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) "I am black and you are white. You're as blind as a bat and I have sight." You might want to edit this quote. Read it slowly and you'll see why....

Or they could start Jenks, bring Riske in for the 2nd, Cotts and MacDougal for 3 and 4 and then let JAVY TAKE OVER!!!!!!

He closed the door before the rest of the band could get out....heh.

Yeah, I'd like to see a bunch of "Choke Job Theatre Part II" articles. The Sun-Times sports section is a lot more readable without his predictable, juvenile spew.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) That's kind of a running joke. I think Oasis once said they'd never heard of the Beatles and Kingdom Come (remember them? ) said they'd never heard of Led Zep. I remember Kingdom Come, unfortunately, but Oasis always talked about the Beatles, usually boasting (kidding or not, who knows?) that they were better or more original or some such bull"spiff" .

Maybe I'm a Cub fan, LOL, but I'm just not as upset about the recent pitfalls as I thought I'd be. I'm disappointed, sure, because I want the Sox to do well - they're my team. But I'm still enjoying last year's title, mostly because I didn't really think I'd ever see them win it all. I hoped they would, I saw some teams I really thought had a chance (1983, 1993/94), but after years upon years I just couldn't picture it. Until that wonderful October night. Remember that night? I said then that this team had a nice long grace period from me, and it turns out I meant it. I wasn't sure that I meant it, trust me. I wondered how I'd react to a couple of sweeps and the type of faulty play they've shown recently. But here I am, still calm. Amazing. I'm still rooting for them to turn this "spiff" around and play like I believe they can, but somehow I'm not going to be all pissy if they don't.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Wolfmother bringin' the rock and the mutha fuh-kin roll on Letterman. I read online where Wolfmother claims they "never even listened to 70s rock" and that their blatant ripoff of the style is "purely unintentional".

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Let me preface this by saying I've been one of Ozzie's biggest 'defenders' when it comes to how he handles his team. I thought they way he rested starters and kept his bench sharp was one the keys to last year's success. However, in a conversation with my father before the Detroit series I said that Ozzie has to keep Anderson in CF regardless of pitching matchups. With that big outfield in Comerica, Brian should have been in CF for every inning of that series. I agree 100%. Defense becomes more important when the pitchers are struggling. Brian should get the overwhelming bulk of the playing time. Just give him a day off every now and then.

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) Well, I guess I'm going to kind of contradict myself here, but Randy Orton is starting to sound like that guy named Rocky Maivia. http://www.csma-netlink.co.uk/users/malcolm/maivia.jpg He wasn't getting heel heat, he was a baby face! People genuinely hated the guy. He turned his career around, maybe Orton can do the same. I'm not trying to say Orton gets nearly as much heat as the Rock did, but it's sort of the same situation. The difference is, Rock had the ability to find his character and make people change their minds about him. I don't believe Orton has the ability or desire to do that. He's more than content to coast, IMO.

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) I just get the vibe that he's the guy who talks a good game, but then hides behind his buddies when the real action goes down. Yeah, that's where I was going with my comment. I've never heard of him stepping up to any of "the boys", he seems to enjoy harassing the women in the company, that's where he gets in trouble with Vince (along with such other hard-core offenses as wardrobe violations).

What SOX game do you remember Watching and Being Furious about?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) That one loss vs the Angels last October, that was total BS! I'm so glad I was playing a fall softball game when they lost that game, I'd have broken my TV I was so pissed. -
Friday Nite Vs Rangers. Just wasnt in the Mood ....

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) This sounds like a lot of words to say: "I think Mark Buehrle sucks, and I have enough expendable income where I can buy tickets to the game and not care if I attend or not." Or "I only want to go when they're winning". -
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) Regal is one of the guys I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. Well, I wouldn't want to meet most of the WWE wrestlers in a dark alley, but Regal would cause the most damage. Randy Orton? I think I could take him. haha Yeah, if you're not a female co-worker you probably don't have much to fear from "The 3rd Generation Superstar".

QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:57 AM) ...Except that Roenick wore 27 with the Blackhawks and 97 ever since. If I were Sandy I'd pick 7 or 18. True enough, my mistake. oooops. I'd ask for 11, no one's worn that in a few years.....
-
Anyone wearing 51? Sandy can do the whole Carlton Fisk/Jeremy Roenick thing and reverse the 15.

QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) im a perfect 5-0 this year at sox games Then YOU, sir, need to purchase SEASON TICKETS!!!! 81 and 0 at home???? OH YES, IT CAN BE DONE....if the Lukeman gets season seats!!!!
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) You look at 3 games and you probably will lose all 3. It's plod away one at a time like the Tigers have been doing. Yep. One game at a time, no looking too far ahead. The most important game of the season is the next one. Beat Radke tonight, worry about Santana tomorrow. GO GET 'EM, WHITE SOX!!!!

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Oh give me a break. When you were released from St. Louis you said it was because of Duncan's kid. I was going to mention the same thing. Widger definitely cried about nepotism when the Birds dropped him. He made the most of his opportunity last year and got a nice shiny ring in the process, but he didn't play well enough to stick around this year. It's too bad, but that's baseball.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) Also known as "spudding" someone. For all the stupid, demeaning crap Vince has made him do, Regal has a rep as a legit tough guy.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) Uh, that's been their mission since 2003. Al Wilson, anyone? Hey, anything that results in awkward, phony-looking "lesbianism" between Dawn and Torrie HAS to be worth it, right????

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:46 AM) http://rajah.com/base/node/5959 What the hell causes that? According to mayoclinic.com: Common causes of elevated liver enzymes include: * Medications, such as certain nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, cholesterol-lowering medications, antibiotics and anti-seizure medications * Drinking too much alcohol * Obesity * Diabetes * Elevated triglycerides * Infection, such as viral hepatitis and mononucleosis * Autoimmune disorders of the liver and bile ducts, such as autoimmune hepatitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis and primary biliary cirrhosis * Metabolic liver disease, such as hemochromatosis and Wilson's disease * Excessive use of vitamin supplements and certain herbal supplements * Tumors of the liver or bile ducts They said there's no "automatic" cause of elevated enzymes, so a doctor would require further liver tests to determine the cause in each individual case.
