I'm seeing some signs of life, like MB having a couple decent starts lately, Vaz looking real sharp last time out, scoring some runs without bombs, stuff like that. They appear to be past the post-All Star Game misery, and I'm excited to see what this team can do once they get consistent starting pitching. Just go get 'em tomorrow, close that gap to 5 and 1/2 and let the Kitties know you're there!!!

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) I am becoming obsessed with "The Internationale" album by Billy Bragg. I don't own anything by Billy Bragg, but I always like him when I happen to hear his stuff.

Those "Princess Dye" and "Jermaine Dead" days seem like 100 years ago right now. Thank God.

The thing that has to worry Detroit fans is the 8-3 record the Sox hold over the Tigers right now. If Buerhle is back on track like he appears to be, that is obviously HUGE for the Sox. I'd be disappointed if the Sox can't get the sweep tomorrow, although it is another series win already, and that can't be discounted.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Quite frankly, JD has been one of the best FA signings in White Sox history. Absolutely. JD's been everything we could have asked for, and more.

ATTENDANCE!!! THERE, I SAID IT!!!! MMMMMWWWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) Who would win a fight between astronauts and cavemen? The astronaut would light up a disposable lighter, and the caveman would freak out and run away. Easy.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) I still get the feeliong the Tigers lead is catchable. Anything can happen still. I agree, but to be honest I'll buy into it a LOT more if the Sox sweep this series. Even one win for the Tigers this weekend cuts down any real chance for the Sox to dig in and send a message. The Sox NEED all three, in my book.

Hawk: "Lifetime, Thome against Mussina - 39 AB, 10 HR.............six of which left the park.........." LOL and then: "10 HITS, 6 of which left the park....."

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) Anyone remember this poster? This was a pretty good one. I remember people freaking out because the curls in her hair supposedly spelled the word SEX.... GASP!!!! Oh, and god bless the eraser nipples....

My brother-in-law did one of those once.

If you can find it (and I know for sure you can find it online), I highly recommend The Methadones' Not Economically Viable. Excellent hard-edged pop (I hate the term pop-punk, the two words don't go together) from Chicago. Oh, and anything and everything by The Wildhearts (except Endless Nameless).

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) ".....and often TAKE both sides of an argument, just so as not to disagree with anyone." Target has spines on sale. I think they have green font on sale, too, so you don't have to use that nasty teal.

I enjoy my posts almost all the time, and I find myself agreeing with them quite often. They make me laugh, they make me think, and sometimes they even make me cry. I would never even think of putting me on "ignore". I am not Cubsessed, but I don't belittle those who are. I enjoyed the World Series victory VERY much, and posted about it often. I try to see both sides of an argument, and often TAKE both sides of an argument, just so as not to disagree with anyone. Therefore, I would have to say that I am a good poster. But I would never be able to stay on a wall, no matter how much tape you put on me, so I cannot say that I am a GREAT poster.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 07:25 AM) The real problem is too many people around here take this WAAAAAAAAAY too seriously... at least on the board. It's a game, a pasttime, entertainment, and something we all should enjoy, not obsess about everytime someone on the field does something wrong. Fire XXXXXX because he XXXXXXX TONIGHT... please. It shows ignorance. Do XXXXXX because XXXXXXX TONIGHT, again, ignorance. On the other hand, XXXXXXXX, WOOOOOOOOOT, they won TONIGHT!!!! is also extreme to the other side, although that's many times more tongue in cheek to dismiss the constant barrage of negativity. The point is you're supposed to enjoy the game, and take it for what it is, not post 85 posts a day about how bad the team sucks and bench and fire every player who doesn't do EXACTLY what you think they should in a given situation. It would tell me that your life hinges on a baseball team - and there's a hell of a lot more to life then that. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ My motto is: When they win, enjoy it - when they lose, forget it.

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) Thanks for upping a match featuring The Great Muta...was i the only one that marked out as young'n in his WCW days...i mostly because he had facepaint and sprayed mist. As you can tell it didn't take much to amuse me as a child. I was a huge Muta mark back in the day. The thing I liked about him was the way he'd sort of stalk around a guy and then hit a move REAL quickly. Think Tajiri, but about 100 times better. ...oh, and also because on the rare occasion that his intended victim would duck from the mist, I would yell "THE MIST MISSED!!! THE MIST MISSED!!!" in my best Tony Schiavone or David (not Davy ) Crockett voice, and my rasslin buddies would get pissed at me.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) wow, now if Yankees lose BBTN has a 5 minute segment to say how they got robbed Bottom of the 3rd will be the biggest inning this year for "big game" Freddy Why? Is he batting?

Easily the most consistent player this year, that JD.

QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) 1+1+1 = 2? 2 given to them, 1 "taken away" from the Sox, therefore "given" to them.

QUOTE(fullcollapse @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) cleveland kind of scares me. they seem like a team that would just love to play spoiler for everyone in the central. Well, they did a pretty piss-poor job of playing spoiler against Detroit this weekend. That said, they'll probably take 5 of 7 from the Sox.

Ahhhh, to go back to those wonderful days when 11 dollars filled my crappy old Ford Escort from E to F......now 35 bucks gets me from E to 3/4......ugh....

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) From this wrestling board that I frequent. They have some amazing avatars including one of my favorites since I loathe Scott "Poster Boy for Roids" Steiner. But if that scene kept going, you'd have seen the DEVASTATING ankle injury Steiner delivered to his opponent!!! He TOTALLY did that flop on purpose, it only LOOKED clumsy and amateurish!!!
-
I'd be perfectly happy with the current 2-of-3 pattern, and if they swept anyone I'd prefer it to be the Tigers, just to put a touch of doubt in their minds. If that's even possible - they just seem to have it on cruise control right now. 7-6 win? Check. 1-0 win? Got it. Come from behind every game? Done.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 07:43 AM) And really not an industry I would like to get into, nor would many people I would have thought. At my work the HR people are the hottest girls in the company. But half of them are that hyper-bubbly "AND HOW ARE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU TODAYYYYEEE???" kind of person that I cannot tolerate. So it's a good news/bad news kind of deal.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) I hope they last a little bit longer than friggin Jet. The next WM record will tell us if they want to be a good band with lasting power, or if they want to make money and get out. By the way, Perry Farrell came out and gave Wolfmother a nice big introduction before their set. I never saw him for the rest of the festival. I heard he popped out of his trailer to jizz all over Gnarls Barkley too.
