Jim Bowden Top 50 Prospect List
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My best buddy broke his wrist on a play like that in college and it destroyed his career; a true freshman starting at a top 5 program. Never recovered fully from the injury. When I saw that, I cringed at his wrist rolling under his body. -

So it doesn't matter? LaRussa was in the league as a head coach in 2011. -
Yeah, agreed. If he has an exemption, it's for health reasons and he has abnormally low levels. This just allows him to use it to get his levels up to the same point that other healthy players have.

That speed, jeeeze! -
Spare me the excuses. These guys are complete trash; years of calling out other teams with shit like this: All while cheating their way to a title. Their lies, their hypocrisy, and their soap boxes... all complete trash. I have said that everyone tries to gain edges, and some go too far, but the sanctimonious way in which the Astros presented themselves and attacked others is so comical now that this has all come out. What a disgrace. Not a peep out of anyone either; except for fake denials or nonsensical "it really didn't help" BS. At least Beltran owned his mistake and made zero excuses; he also never accused others of doing what he was doing. Verlander is a clown.

And the players still lied, which just shows how stupid this "immunity" stuff was.
-
You know Timmy is just loving this right now.
-
What, it explains exactly why they granted them "fake" immunity.

What? The 1986 and 1987 rosters shared like 90% of the roster. McDowell was teammates with those players. Clearly from his time with the team and organization, and with those players, he learned this and is stating it. I have no idea why anyone thinks that because he didn't play that exact year that he could have no idea what was going on. -
Because the commissioners office didn't want to go through the appeals process with the Union; there was no exact language within the CBA warranting punishments here, and it would have opened up an entire other bag of worms had they suspended the players.
-
No, that is not why the players were granted immunity. With fellow union members outraged, tony Clark is in one hell of a tough spot. Players want players held accountable.

How is he salty? Because he doesn't like to see cheaters prospering off the game they are cheating? -
Let's all reminisce about this story: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/astros/2018/04/21/justin-verlander-tim-anderson-unwritten-rules/539194002/ Where Justin Verlander - knowingly cheating and breaking actual rules - decided to play the "unwritten rules" fun police against Tim Anderson. It's amazing; McCann and Verlander care so much about the unwritten rules, but don't give a fuck about the actual rules.

Jim has probably seen like 10 ab's combined from everyone on his list. lol And when I saw that he had quotes about each player from GM's and player personnel I thought he was going to have quotes from like scouts and stuff that weren't with the organization that the guy plays for; even if anonymous. Rick Hahn thinks highly of Luis Robert? NO WAY, JIM! -

No, he didn't talk like that. I'm pretty sure he is assuming his teammates who told him this wouldn't make up something like that out of nowhere. -

Ahh, you're right. He was drafted in 84 and 87. Regardless, he was on the team like 6 months after LaRussa left. You're acting like he had no communication with the players that played with LaRussa. -

Miami baseball does this shit too - by far the biggest cheaters in college baseball. -

Again, using technology to steal signs is illegal and far different than me shifting my weight to the left side when the catcher moves in and right side when he moves out, and holding my left knee cap for a fastball and having two hands on my knees for off-speed while standing on second. -

McDowell was drafted in the 1987 draft - a member of the organization. He made his big league debut in 87, less than 1 year after LaRussa's firing. Players talk; these were his teammates. LaRussa has a history of breaking the rules, and I'll trust McDowell that this was just the beginning of LaRussa's scumbaggery. edit: changed draft date -

McDowell joined the team in 1987, the year after LaRussa was fired. Sooo. no. -

I'm not mad at the White Sox - this is a LaRussa problem, not an organizational one, and there's a lot of reasons LaRussa is gone and that may have been one of them. -

McDowell says baseball gives guys like LaRussa a pass for decades while targeting others. He says it's not fair and it's hypocritical. Hard to argue with Jack here. -

I will say, I have no idea what camera's were good enough in the 1980's to zoom in from the outfield stands into the fingers of a catcher... But I don't know why Jack would make this up; well, he does hate LaRussa but still. Odds are this is true, and makes me even happier that we fired this ass hat. -
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/news/jack-mcdowell-80s-white-sox-tony-la-russa-cheated/fac8vh3ph8vb1dkja2jox1n10 Former MLB pitcher and 1993 AL Cy Young winner Jack McDowell alleged in a radio appearance Friday morning that the White Sox had an illegal sign-stealing operation at old Comiskey Park in the late 1980s, and that Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa was the instigator of the scheme. Speaking to WFNZ-AM in Charlotte, where he serves as baseball coach for Queens University, McDowell said the White Sox had a camera zoomed in on opposing catchers and a light in an outfield Gatorade sign that could be controlled from the manager's office and would presumably let hitters know which pitches were coming. "He was also the head of the first team ... with people doing steroids," McDowell said, referencing La Russa's decade-long stint as manager of the Oakland A's, which included managing infamous steroid users Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. "Yet he's still in the game making half a million. No one's gonna go after that." I've been pretty anti-LaRussa in my life, and as a poster here, and his love of cheating was a huge reason. He was an overrated hack who never did shit the right way; which is likely why he was fired from the White Sox. People here can praise him all he want, but the guy spent decades cheating - not winning fair and square.
