  1. I'm with Fegan; encarnacion doesnt make a lot of sense. They have in house pieces for that spot. I'm not sure the Sox are interested in Keuchel or Ryu. Language seems to be shifting towards the White Sox passing. Things don't sound good; hope I'm wrong.
  2. Steamer, in general, is slow to react to younger players who have developed/improved. Its actually why I was a bit surprised by Gios number.
  3. His answer to why was equally as baffling as the action.
  4. Fan is a dickhead. Dont like Boylan and he shouldnt be the coach but theres no need for this.
  5. Gotcha. My bad. Definitely agree. I'll worry about the white sox losing a superstar while being good when it actually happens. Call me crazy but one thing I actually trust this organization to do is take care of the good/great ones.
  6. It doesn't make you a bad person if you want to maximize your earnings to assist in the future stability of generations of your family.
  7. Get a grip on yourself. Jesus Christ.
  8. I don't think so. I think Cease is going to be good, but I don't think him being great dictates the success of the rebuild. If the Sox sign another starter or trade for one (that fits the #1-#2 bill), they'll have 3 guys ahead of Cease that they trust more (Kopech, Gio and FA/Trade target). Lopez and Cease shift back to the bottom of the rotation. They're still important, and if either becomes a complete monster they have a hell of a rotation.
  9. Trades have risk; the fact that they came out of three mega-deals with as many quality players as they did has a lot of luck involved. The more you do that, the more likely you are going to get some lemons. They traded Sale because they were rebuilding. Now their pieces are coming together and you want to start over. It's a dumb idea; if I can put it lightly.
  10. Based on what? It's no where near -3. Detwiler - 70 IP; -.6 Manny - 50 IP; -.4 Ervin - 13 IP; -.4 (This is IMPRESSIVE in 13 innings) Despaigne 13 IP; -.1 Fulmer/Hecton 22 IP; -.15 That's -1.65 5th starter spot is only getting about 165 innings in a year. That's 168 above.
  11. Gio, Reylo, Cease are literally the only starters they have that they can rely on for opening day. Cease and Reylo are still big question marks; obviously both could improve and be very good but they shouldn't be relying on that. Hahn has no interest in overpaying the three guys left, so if their prices don't come down I'm pretty sure the Sox are out and that's actually fine with me.
  12. If the team is unwilling/unable to pay premium free agents then they should trade the ones they were lucky enough to find in the trade market... it's an interesting concept to say the least.
  13. TIL that James Shields has not formally retired. Someone might want to let him know that it's over.
  14. About -1.7 WAR for the season.
  15. Walker, McHugh, Salazar, Wood and Miley are guys I would take ahead of those who have signed from that tier for sure. There are others that would be a toss up that I'd probably take over the current signees as well. Although Salazar is never going back into a rotation.
  16. I think you would catch that was a joke and a slight exaggeration; Covey might have the edge over Rico Garcia lol
  17. Here's a list of starting pitchers still available; the ones who have been bolded are better than Dylan Covey: Name Hyun-Jin Ryu MadisonBumgarner Homer Bailey Ivan Nova Wade Miley Andrew Cashner Jason Vargas Julio Teheran Gio Gonzalez Rich Hill Dallas Keuchel Aaron Sanchez Collin McHugh Robbie Erlin Matt Moore Josh Tomlin Clay Buchholz Chad Bettis Cody Anderson Tommy Milone Jeremy Hellickson Taijuan Walker Tyson Ross Jhoulys Chacín Felix Hernandez Jimmy Nelson Edinson Volquez Marco Estrada Clayton Richard Alex Wood Danny Salazar Kohl Stewart Shelby Miller Steven Wright Rico Garcia Drew Smyly Matt Harvey Wade LeBlanc Jerad Eickhoff Wei-Yin Chen Ervin Santana Ross Detwiler Trevor Cahill Derek Holland Edwin Jackson James Shields
  18. Unless the target was Brett Anderson, the market didn't run out of anything after his signing.
  19. You basically just declared the rebuild dead and suggested they should start all over and trade their elite talent they acquired. I'm not sure I would classify you as "one of the more optimistic posters." In fact, you're less optimistic about this rebuild than Moan4Yoan which is really tough to do.
  20. Yeah, I've always liked Jim, and I understand his outward frustration after watching this for decades but he does lead that brigade and he surrounded himself with those types of people. Had the White Sox signed Anderson, I guarantee he would have tweeted out some negative angle regarding the signing as well.
  21. They probably follow Nelson, who of course tweeted the signing out as some negative reflection on the front office. I'll go ahead and pass on the guy with 4.6 K/9 in the modern game. Thanks.
  22. https://sports.yahoo.com/the-pen-mlb-owners-vote-could-be-big-news-for-baseball-fans-cutting-the-cord-200214832.html I was incorrect regarding MLB.TV though - they will not be apart of this at the start; blackouts will still exist. "Asked to clarify what exactly the “revised interactive media rights agreement” looks like, Manfred said, “The biggest single change was the return of certain in-market digital rights — the rights that have essentially become substitutional with broadcast rights — those rights will return to the clubs.” When the Yankees reacquired YES Network, it was under the premise that they would gain exclusive rights to sell their streaming services locally: Asked how the deal might affect the digital streaming rights to Yankees games within the team’s market, club president Randy Levine said he expected Major League Baseball to announce changes to its policy soon. Teams cannot currently sell digital rights to local broadcasts. Now, apparently, they can.
  23. ???? Please, stop. I honestly can't believe people even propose things like this. The corner is here, let's start over again!
  24. I do the same shit that drives me crazy when my wife does it; repeat the same thing 10 different ways in one response. ? I blame my wife for me becoming this way.
  25. Ding ding ding. Guys who are hoping to not be signing their last contract will likely factor in other reasons to drive their value next time they negotiate if they fall into that crowd. I'm not mad at the white sox for missing out on a player like this.
