Giolito only having one option means he will pitch until they are contending and don’t have room for him. Right now they have plenty of room to let him toil.
  2. Well there was a reason for that, and it didn’t have anything to do with baseball
  3. That’d be great! But there’s significantly more risk with him then anyone they’ve done this with as he’s already had elbow surgery. I don’t see him taking a deal I would be willing to give him
  4. There’s too much risk in Cease for my blood. Unless they can buy low on Moncada, I don’t think there’s anyone worth it right now.
  5. It 100% is nonsense. He was the 30th ranked international prospect.
  6. Like I said before, it took them from an F to a D-
  7. But 2019 was always the 'If everything breaks right' year. Everything didn't break right and now it's a 'things better start breaking right' year. I really disagree that 2019 was totally unrealistic, and will view no contention in 2020 as something of a failure.
  8. It wasn't unrealistic, just best case scenario. If Michael Kopech didn't get hurt, Moncada was a 1-2 wins better, and Giolito was a major leaguer last year the outlook is a lot different even without Machado. Instead we basically got absolute worst case scenario.
  9. There's definitely still a path to contention, and I think a lot of people fail to see it through the clouds. It just got so, so much harder.
  10. Well those ones are basically employed by the team.
  11. I also find it unlikely that the '21-'22 offseason doesn't swing this deal this deal more in the Sox favor.
  12. It's still a very good move that also makes the next couple weeks/months much much less horrible?
  13. I assume you didn't account for inflation both in the economy at large and in arbitration?
  14. Under. 30 is like... a lot
  15. I really, really, really can't stand Garfien's optimism. His opinions will always be worthless.
  16. Well one of those options years is irrelevant to arb, and the other option year is when he would be making 90% of what he's worth. I'm also guessing 43 is less than he would make in arb, if those options are worth pickng up.
  17. I'm sorry, but I'd rather never see Jose Abreu play baseball again than to see JD Martinez or Nick Castellanos play Right every day.
  18. I think the White Sox are legitimately going to hit a ton of dingers this year. Problem being far too many of them will be Solo shots.
  19. 'We need to buy time to figure out to how to make this look as little like manipulation as possible when we do bring him in opening day'
  20. potentially massive surplus value on the option years 7 and 8
  21. I now grade this offseason a D--
  22. No more Delmonico which is perhaps the best development
  23. No, Tyler Kolek and Brady Aiken were awful picks. Rodon was just.... a pick. Also, please allow for a rebuttal to this take and then launch this thread directly to the nearest black hole. Thanks.
  24. I just got a notification from MLB At-Bat that said 'Fulmer may need Tommy John', I started laughing out lout until I realized they were talking about Michael.
  25. There's a lot I hate our FO over, being wrong along with > 2/3rds of the league isn't really one of them
