No doubt the college pitching class is weak but there will be guys who pop up and perform better than expected. Maybe not enough to get them in the top half of the draft but right around where the Sox pick. I suspect come draft time they will have a couple college arms in the mix.

How about that matchup between Jackson Ferris and Brandon Barriera last night. Two of the top HS lefties in the class and they did not disappoint. Ferris was 93-96 sl 76-78 and Barriera was 92-96 w/a nasty sl at 79-81. HS pitching is risky but damn there are some serious dudes in this years class.

I really like him. Physically he checks all the boxes. Big, strong, athletic, tools, power. The only box he doesn't check is a track record against quality pitching. Playing at a small school will make it a little more difficult to evaluate him though he did hit on the Cape and some teams weigh that more than the spring. I was told he has a chance to be the best player in the draft and I find it hard to disagree.

The more guys playing baseball is good. What the random fan calls a "minor league washout" is actually the life blood of the game. When those guys are done playing they go back to their hometowns and become HS coaches, travel ball coaches, JC or college coaches and they pass the professional instruction they received to the next generation of players. People in the game understand how vital these guys are but unfortunately this new age of owner is more than willing to sacrifice the future well being of the game for short term financial gains. These short sighted decisions will do long term damage but they couldn't care less. It's all about cutting costs.

I do too. Draft and follow, trading draft picks, more pool money and an increase to 25 rounds would help fix some of the damage they did to the future of the game.

How would they do at preventing runners from taking the extra base. Stopping runners from scoring from 2nd on a single, scoring from 1st on a double or going first to third on a single. Preventing runners from taking the extra base is kinda a big deal for a right fielder and It would be a god damn merry go round with Vaughn/Sheets in right field.

In regards to the amateur draft, the league’s new proposal would reintroduce the “draft and follow” concept, where teams could draft a player and send them to junior college for a year before signing them. Whadda know. The dickheads got something right.

He reclassified because they knew HS guys wouldn't pitch to him now JC guys might stop pitching to him too.

They would like to bring him back on a 1 yr deal but some team will likely give him multi years and they will regret the absolute hell out of it.

What a great swing. He got his foot down so he was able to wait a tick longer on that hanger then he didn't miss it. He has advanced feel to hit.

I would still be surprised if this goes into effect this year. Talk about putting NL teams behind the 8-ball. Ok you have 2 weeks and a diminished FA pool to radically change the structure of your team. Go get em, Boys!

Interesting he said he didin't see Cespedes throw good in the AFL. I saw the same damn thing. I don't know why he brought up Montgomery and Kath's performance in the AZL. It's an irrelevant sample size in their overall evaluation. He's higher on Romy than I would have thought. Jared Kelley. Yikes

I don't know, Jack. I think the last thing in the world Mr Biblical losses wants to do is run back to daddy and ask him for more money. I think there are some other owners who are starting to get itchy too. They're meeting this week. I think their next proposal will be more based in reality.
