The players play the game to win. They don't like being on teams that are built to lose. Their #1 priority in these negotiations is to fix a broken system that the owners are fully taking advantage of to field losing teams and maiximize profits. The players want more teams trying to win and to make the game more competitive. They want to make the game a better product......for the fans.

The owners locked out players on the 40 man roster. Players not on the 40 man roster are still able to go about their business.

I was told this offer isn't going to move the needle. Just another waste of time by the owners.

Interesting. He doesn't have skins on the wall but he definitely has a set of balls. I'll add him to the list.
-
You hire Harbaugh because he will be the loudest voice in the building. That's the only way this structure has a chance to work. It worked with Ditka and Lovie because they had the balls to say we're doing it my way. It didn't work with Wanny, Jauron, Trestman (good lord Trestman), and Nagy because they were all giant pussies. The way I see it there are only 2 coaches who have the juice to run the organization and that's Harbaugh and Sean Payton but it doesn't sound like Payton is a viable option so Harbaugh has to be the guy. If they hire yet another first year coach or another shitty retread we'll be back here again in 4-5 years. Make Harbaugh an offer he can't refuse.

Hard pass. It's Harbaugh or bust for me.
-
He lost 3 games because of his horrible decision making. He literally coached them out of a playoff spot. He deserves to be fired.
-
or Brandon Staley. Woof
-
I liked Pace but I get why he was fired. He tied his wagon to the wrong horse. That said it's going to be very difficult for them to find a guy to do a better job drafting than he did. He was able to find solid NFL players up and down the draft and that's not going to be easy to replace.

You're a coach and you're anti-player. huh

Rosenthal fired for criticism of Manfred
Harold's Leg Lift replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Manfred will slink away when the new cba is in place and never be heard from again. -
Too much velocity too soon and he doesn't have the frame to support it. There's also effort to the delivery. That kind of guy scares the crap out of me. Besides if they go HS pitcher which I would be surprised if they did you would have to think Dutkanych would be the guy.

He has the tools to stay there but if they do decide to move him off the dirt it's not a death sentence for him because the bat will play on an OF corner. -

I'd put Kath as the top prospect in the system. That Kid has a chance to be a really really good hitter. -
Tanking for draft picks is the excuse teams use to appease the fanbase. Sure Owners love their cheap talent none more so than Jerry Reinsdorf but they love the bottom line from years of running low major league payrolls and rat holing obscene amounts of money a hell of a lot more. There's not a perfect solution to prevent tanking because there will always be owners who care more about making money than putting a quality product on the field but at least they can make it more difficult for them and shit canning a system that rewards losing is a great place to start.

I absolutely love this idea. If a team is bad spend more money or hire better people to spend the money. It will be impossible to differentiate the teams that are losing on purpose and the ones who are just bad at their job so if you're bad at your job you pay the consequesnses. Punish teams for being bad instead of rewarding them. There should be no participation trophies in professional sports. .

Every team has a player rep and 8 players on the executive committee. Scott Boras players are well represented on the executive committee. Andrew Miller Max Scherzer (Boras) Francisco Lindor Marcus Semien (Boras) Zack Britton (Boras) James Paxton (Boras) Jason Castro Gerrit Cole (Boras)

Narratives getting blowed up left and right.
-
I believe it. It's either Jones or Elijah Green. They're both speciman's. Green has more power but it comes with more swing and miss. The other top guys all have their warts. Terrmar is (maybe) a 2B and some question if his swing will translate at the next level. Brooks Lee won't stay at SS. Who knows where Jung is going to play and I heard there's some makeup stuff there. Berry can't play 3B so he's a 1B/DH. DeLauter might be the best player in the draft but he's going to be tough to evaluate playing at a smaller D1. Carter Young has to cut down on the swing and miss. The top college pitchers (Prielipp, Pallette, Crawford, Rocker??) are either injured or coming back from injury. It's going to be a very interesting spring to see how all this shakes out.
-
Jones is all projection, athleticism and bloodlines. He has one of the highest ceilings in the draft a team just has to bet on the athlete to figure it out at the plate. He does show feel to hit and he has a good understanding of what he's trying to do. I would be very surprised if he wasn't a top 5 pick.

Kmet receiving criticism at this point in his career is more evidence why Bear fans are easily the dumbest fan base in professional sports.
