"Sometimes", Abreu said,"when you're at a place where maybe you're not being respected to the point where you think you should be, you just have to go somewhere else."
Hahn's bullshit lowball offer to one of the franchise's best players didn't sit well. Shocking
I'm trying to think of recent draftees who had a higher floor than Wilson and the only names I can come up with are Rutshman and Bregman. Wilson doesn't have the ceiling those two had but he's going to play SS in the big leagues for a long time.
My guy hit two piss rockets yesterday. I love his new stance/approach. He finally went back to how he used to hit and got rid of all that ridiculous pre-pitch movement. He's quieter and much more athletic and is able to get into his lower half. Just a simple smooth load with a quick leg kick that creates separation and see ball hit ball. My guys gonna do a lot of damage if he stays like this all year.
Head and Wolkow? I wouldn't put Coupet in the 2nd round discussion just yet. This strike throwing is a revelation but if he shows it all spring he could get there because his CB is an absolute banger. Right now I have Oppor ahead of Coupet.
I would be surprised if they went HS pitcher as well. Last year was a gift when one of the highest ceiling players fell in their lap at the back of the 1st round. I don't expect that to happen again. After last years pitcher heavy draft I will expect them to go hitters with at least the top couple picks. Maybe even a catcher!
I'm out on Lowder. He reminds me too much of Clevinger. I wouldn't be surprised if they grab a college bat especially if guys like Wilson, Shaw or Ahuna (if the NCAA ever clears him to play) are there. It's shaping up to be a pretty good draft up top.
