  1. This also could be a valid take on their success.
  2. That's what I was agreeing with.
  3. The presence of Alonso in our lineup makes me question that God is a Sox fan.
  4. I don't think you or I have any idea who the FO is going after. Because they didn't overpay a couple of guys doesn't mean they won't make meaningful adjustments to the lineup.
  5. That's what was said when we were bidding on Abreu & Belle.
  6. Again...I didn't say I didn't like some of the new stats. I just think there is a reason the Official White Sox site shows who has the highest batting average, who has hit the most HR's and who has the most RBI's. The box score give running totals on those traditional statistics. No mention on what the individual WHIP or WAR stats are. I have yet to see an individual WAR stat and registering shock at how good or bad that player is. Without looking it up I know Alonso isn't playing for shit...I don't need to see his WAR to know that. I'll bet Giolito looks great weather I look at his 10-1 W/L record or his ERA or his WHIP. I actually think that WAR has more value in evaluating some middle of pack sort of players.
  7. Didn't say it was a crazy stat-geek thing. I make the point Wins are a meaningful stat. Can you name some 20 game winners who were horse-shit pitchers?
  8. Wins will always and should be one of the statistics that have value in evaluating a starting pitcher. Many pitchers have had the ability to do what needs to be done in order to win. They knew that in order to pitch 200+ innings they didn't try to strike everyone out. They knew how to pace themselves for the long haul.
  9. Now that's a sensible way to spend Jerry's money.
  10. Every team can use a quality bullpen arm. Just need one team with a plethora of outfielders in their system.
  11. I predict that one of the WAR guys is going to tell you wins don't matter. I know...I think that's a load of crap too.
  12. If you were playing golf and kept hooking it into the woods...most of us would try to adjust. Not Alonso. Just keep doing the same things over and over again. Nuts!
  13. And such an important one no less. Gio starting and going for .500. Once you are at .500 a hot streak puts you in the thick of it. Let's get er done!
  14. I think it was a situation that they felt...surely he will start hitting soon. Now he has become Dunn like. I would sit him for a few days using him for occasional pitch hitting duty. When you want to free up the roster spot is when you release him. I agree that he is lost money at this point. Maybe we should try and trade him to the Padres. They might pay us to keep their star happy.
  15. To be fair...I don't think any of us saw Alonso stinking up the place to this level.
  16. No reason to trade Colome unless a starting pitcher or right fielder is involved.
  17. We need 2 competent starters and a reliable right fielder. If we had that right now we would be contending for the Central.
  18. Bring up Cease, Robert, Madrigal and Collins. I'll bet fans would find that very entertaining.
  19. Herrera must have had some injury...he was his old self.
