Contenders overpay for guys they view will put them into the playoff picture. Q was one of those times.

Jose is fine at a price. How much does he want to stay for 2 or 3 years vs what's he worth on the open market. Hahn will have the answers to those questions and make an appropriate decision. Hahn does fine in deals where he is the seller. Not quite as good as the buyer IMO. I'll live with his decision on this. Same with Colome but odds are a little higher on a trade I think.

What we need is a good baseball team.

This is why the time is now to trade Abreu & Colome if we're going to. Teams overpay when they view a player through the eyes of improving their playoff chances. Everyone is more rational in the off season.

They will have a good amount of company.

Always prefer to trade a year to early rather than a year to late.

I expect next season to be the Sox version of 2015 Cubs. The first winning season since start of the rebuild. Might be just a bit short of championship caliber but you can see the talent all around. Win total in low to mid 90's would be my today guess. Free agents and trades can of course help move the needle forward. Bring up Robert, Cease & Madrigal...find two decent starting pitchers...and lets roll.
