  1. I'm a Sox fan and Hahn is the man in charge. I'll believe in him until he fails then I'll move on if necessary. Every GM does some questionable stuff. I didn't like the Shields trade but I'll stick with just another bump. Next year and beyond I want to see the results for my patience.
  2. I tend to believe premier players are best acquired through developing prospect and trades. Free agents would be best used to plug holes with competent major league tested players but not necessarily the high priced ones. Every team as at least some restrictions on spending and we certainly do. Seems to me the best way to maximize your talent pool with somewhat limited resources.
  3. Do you or don't you feel this White Sox team will be a top contender within the next two years? Hahn gave us this time table. Hold him accountable when he doesn't deliver. These moment by moment snapshots are rather meaningless. We both know that Jay, Alonso, Nova and others weren't brought in to be part of the eventual contenting team. I suspect we like the same players and dislike the same players. Go get the two best starting pitchers we can afford and a solid right fielder and I'll take my chances.
  4. I like Hahn because the team being developed for next year and beyond looks like a very exciting and competitive team. The various bumps along the way are just part of the process. If all our prospects fall flat than I will be calling for change of leadership. The proof will be in the results we see or don't see in the next two years.
  5. I think Hahn is doing a good job on the whole. Like most people he has bosses to report to. I think Kenney is the problem because he continues to have Jerry's ear.
  6. Oh...has he mentioned this before? I must have missed it.
  7. Interesting that the Dash batted Madrigal in the 2 hole. That where I want to see him because of his bat control. He fouls off balls to close to take...hits behind the runner...his bunt and walk abilities distract the pitcher while trying to hold runners on. Very Nellie Fox like. Nellie helped a lot in making Luis Aparicio a star.
  8. That needle would have to move quite a bit to interest me. I like both guys a lot.
  9. He needs more help from his bench then "hey Ricky...maybe we should get someone up in the bullpen."
  10. I wasn't posting at that time but I was against the signing of either. Much rather use the money to extend our prospects as they mature into stars. Rick has shown us that he knows how to do this to our advantage. Does anyone really think that if Sale had a ten year 30 million per deal we would have been able to get the haul we got. This forum would be doing the usual harping about how the FO screwed up.
  11. We dodged a bullet. Now we still have an extra 30 million per year to spend on several good signings.
  12. They should cut ties to both...they serve no useful purpose.
  13. They kick the tires on a lot of wrecks...most are here for a very brief look.
  14. We would all be having kittens on this board...and you know it.
  15. He should have thought of his HOF chances when he turned down our offer.
  16. The question is not what you or I would give up... but what would some GM who views him as the guy who solves all their problems give up.
  17. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla.
  18. If a ninth inning guy can reliably get the save he will multiple suiters. I have no doubt that if the decision is to cut bait he will bring a nice piece.
  19. I know Balta will have a stroke but I think we see Madrigal as late season call up.
