  1. He fits the bill for me. I know some want a lefty. That might be best but I'll settle for best all around player. I want a good defender because you can't have two Eloy's in your outfield. I sometimes wonder if we've given Cordell enough of a chance. He actually is a 5 tool player but none of the tools are elite. He also has no glaring weakness that stands out under such limited play.
  2. I suspect that Estate Law will drive JR's decision concerning selling the team. He's a tax attorney and I'm sure has had his departure worked out years in advance.
  3. Or could have wound up with Joc Pederson. Just depends on team and circumstances.
  4. I agree but I really think offers will be better than that. Only takes one team with a surplus of major league ready outfielders.
  5. Just saw an article that today is the 30th anniversary of Frank Thomas being drafted. He went 7th overall in a top 10 class that didn't amount to much other than him. There are just no sure things in baseball and even the experts can't see into the future. Frank would have gone #1 and I bet Mike Trout would have gone a little higher also.
  6. I don't disagree...only pointing out the era is different. We became baseball fans in an era where Cubs had Ernie Banks and many other quality players. Even though they were in last place...they just didn't consider trading the teams star. The Sale trade would not happen no matter the offer. We of course did trade players like Norm Cash and Earl Battey to the chagrin of many White Sox fans.
  7. Robert just won player of the month in May. Not long now.
  8. I know what your saying. You and I grew up in an era that the word "tank" was never thought of. Unfortunately, times have changed.
  9. A guy like Colome is invaluable to almost any pen in playoffs. Can't have enough 8th and 9th guys. He will net something useful.
  10. I would spend the money where the needs are...starting pitching & right field. Madrigal is on the fast track and Sanchez can hold it down until Madrigal gets here.
  11. Could be the 20's version of Nellie Fox with his bat control.
  12. When Ricky was fired from the Cubs a lot of discussion was had about the right guy to get you from point A to point B. Maybe we're at that point.
  13. I know that whole story. The point is Jerry does listen to advisors as he did in the LaRussa case. The story you are addressing doesn't say Jerry now goes it alone.
  14. The heart loves who the heart loves and hates who the heart hates.
  15. I think it's really something how Rick Hahn is made out to be a dullard by some on this forum. He is a Harvard grad with agent experience. He has done some great things like extending Sale, Q & Eaton and then turning those players into a gold mine of talent. IMO we could do a lot worse than RH. Now Kenny is another story.
  16. Mid tier talent is what we need. Two mid tier starters and a Dye type right fielder. We have elite covered pretty well...and really need some playing time together as Robert, Madrigal, Cease and Kopech adjust to the league and recuperation. Note: I'm not saying elite players wouldn't be ideal.
  17. You could do a lot worse than Avi 2017 model. Doesn't cover quite the ground I like but great arm.
  18. Not worried about Madrigal. Need Right Fielder and two decent starters. Good to go.
  19. I don't think anyone is going to confuse Moncada with Rios.
  20. I agree. Ricky should try the use of a relief starter...than go to Lopez. New age thinking so don't expect to see it.
  21. He will also need to catch and throw the ball. Can't have two Eloy's in any outfield.
  22. Players starting to realize that the grass isn't always greener elsewhere. I think Trout set a nice example of signing a "fair" contract rather than selling himself to the highest bidder.
  23. Avi would have been the poster boy for maximum utilization of minimal resources (getting the most for your money).
  24. Guys who make a pitcher use 7 & 8 pitches help get into an opponents bullpen are valuable. Madrigal hits behind the runner and takes a pitcher out of his routine when he is on base. We will have an interesting mix of speed and power. I like how most of our power guys are not Konerko on the bases.
