YASNY time at soxtalk!
there was no world series in 1901 to my knowledge - it began a few years later, by 1906 but not in 1901

YASNY time at soxtalk!
just double checked Griffith managed us to first AL pennant but there was no world series in 1901 Fielder Jones, world series 1906 Pants Rowland, world series 1917 Gleason was manager of the 1919 team but I do not believe that Griffith for us ever managed a world series losing team or ever managed a team in the world series for us

YASNY time at soxtalk!

Early Season Tix
home opener has been sold out or almost sold out beginning with 2001 but I possibly can get you tickets if you don't mind sitting with me - depends on whether I live so long and if the sox offer their usual presale to season ticket holders - I would expect they will but they are doing many things differently this year Yankees also also have close to sell outs if you really want to go to one of these, set the dates and buy ASAP

YASNY time at soxtalk!
that is well stated as to Manuel. I had not thought of the "L" connection which actually qualifies me to be manager! Your additional citations of Gutteridge, Doby, and Kessinger are well said.

YASNY time at soxtalk!
I am not often here when YASNY is so this is a real oppotunity to say hi in real time I for one would appreciate YASNY's insights into who was the least competent manager in his opinion for the Sox - I'd have to go with Bevington for the reasons stated in other thrad but am interested in other ideas my second choice would be Paul Richards redux - the second time he was managing, was he ever awake during a game? His first time was fine, but his second stint - that was not pleasant.

Terry Bevington Update
one of the reasons I could never rip on Manuel was because I saw Bevington and one reason I really disliked Shueler was he hired Bevington (the other reason was he signed Navarro over Clemens on the grounds that Navarro had more to offer)

Terry Bevington Update
yes there iks worse than that there is the time he went out to argue with the ump over a play and after the ump listened to Bevington screaming, the ump reversed the call so that it then went against the Sox talk about not having a clue what was going on...

Rod Stewart
if I listened long enough to you I'd find a way to believe that its all true knowing that you lied straight faced while I cried still I'd look to find a reason to believe when he sings that, think of me - that song hs more resonence in my life than I care to ever admit - I would love to hear him sing that once for all the times that has been in my life metallisox, I am rather elderly myself but I will one day laugh knowing that you have gotten as old as Rod Stewart is now and if you can still move let along perform then, more power to you!

Terry Bevington Update
it is astounding isn't it? I actually missed two years - 2 years! - of going to games because I could not abide his managing - to remember one's worst TB moment is to re enter hell

on my list of best films ever - recent thread - also on most critics lists - it is about Nazis and the Nuremberg rallies of Hitler it is great cinema and revolutionized movie making with its shots and angles and other techniques it is about dreadful evil and hate and glorifies it it was on my list with those caveats to say the least
