  1. true the year the Rams won, I was so sick of them saying it was God's will that Kurt win the Super Bowl - as if God cares and intervenes now of course they are self-proclaimed martyrs of the faith they are setting themselves up for good gigs making $$ on the evangelical circuit for years as the football player (and wife) who lost his job because he is a Christian rather than for injuries and less than stellar play
  2. 'bout time you played there - fun to win that, isn't it?
  3. somehow that old thread comes up with a CubKilla post and my signature - first time the name "CubKilla" and the word "democrat" ever got posted together! the rest of the thread is somewhat garbled too, is that a resault orf the change of servers? thanks 2K4 for finding that!
  4. my recollection is that two events are being telescoped one was that Frank had that little period where he was checking things out on the reduced abilitiy clause or whatever it was called and he did go to LA and met with Evans and decided to stay with the Sox and the Sox deal was then renegotiated the other serparate event was KW tried to trade Frank to Boston (was that June 30 2002?) and the shareholders got a letter about that because of the magnitude of that trade and the next morning there was a shareholder revolt in JR's office which ended with fists being pounded and the JR decision to not trade Frank For the second event, I happened to be up in that area later that day with a shareholder and I have no doubt that is what happened because I heard the story from so many people right there who were in a position to know (and be there) as for the first, it was one of those things where someone in Frank's posse (shall we say) called someone back in Chicago and said Frank is meeting with Evans right now and I have no reason to doubt that person in Chicago who said they got the call and that the offer was more than what the Sox offered but Frank chose to stay in Chicago
  5. then let me be the first to suggest: foulke no, just koch. Soxtalk.

    ESPN 1000

you know, it would be helpful if ESPN ran on a contest on what my next Sox logo tattoo should be - that at least would be of more news value than what they usually do
  7. Clarett and david Terrell on the same team - your new division champ:
  8. key part: and so Kerry's really close friend (and lest we forget, John McCain was one of the Keating 5 in that actual financial scandal) Republican John McCain* dropped a proposed amendment that is not something that troubles me in the slightest - especially as the Big Dig needed to be finished for a whole host of reasons - now if Kerry had blocked prosecution of AIG, then you have a problem - to allow a massive public works program to be completed in the state one represents - no problem - to hold everyone to that standard, there would be no one left of the 535 people in Congress, no one to run against them, and Cheney would be in jail and probably Bush too. But they shouldn't be for things like this. *John McCain has been a close Kerry friend for years and has even gone against usual party protocols to support Kerry in past Senate elections

    ESPN 1000

if ESPN reported I had three Sox tattoos on my left ankle I would check it out before I believed it (which is a lot more credibility than I give to the SCORE) a slow sports news day on a Wednesday in February with nothing much else to talk about after the Super Bowl - what are the odds they would float bulls*** just to get people to tune in?
  10. agreed that was Dean doing the attacking Edwards has scored many points for not being an attack dog and Dean has lost a credibility (and votes) by being one as I am in charge of our county's caucus (Michigan, Saturday) I have been watching the tracking numbers and spent part of today watching them complied Dean may get a decent pre-caucus internet/absentee ballot vote (those have already been cast) but no one is voting for him Saturday Edwards Kerry Kerry Edwards it is all volitile right now but that is where the voters are out here now and a lot of them (myself included between Edwards and Clark) may not make up our minds until we hold the ballot in our hands - it could be anywhere from a landslide for Kerry to a close win for Edwards
  11. get a new father, your only solution there your theory of child raising is great, however - my father and my grandfather each only took to me to a game once and I sure wish it were more (except they took me to Wrigley) my grandson loves going to the games and has a lot of memories that will stay with him forever long after I am gone (which is part of the point) plus we just have fun but skipping school - I don't know. I have friends I meet for opening day but there is still to me a place in my head that says baseball is not as important as school for kids I would never allow a descendant of mine to only go a couple of times a year and sitting in the Upper Deck is a blast glad I had no kid with me the last few years for opening dat though - 2001 was freezing and rain and 2003 - well no kid would wanted to stay through that nor would any responsible adult allow a kid to stay through that but high school age is not a kid in that sense so tell your father that you will never ever miss another day of school if he takes you that day and creates some life long memories so you will just have to replace him with someone who knows how to raise a child see if that works (PS your kids will love you)
  12. I will bet you any amount of money that will not happen.
  13. usually I woudl agree with you Texsox but not this year and here is why: the polling numbers are telling us something very unusual is happening this year: 90% of the electorate is already decided. So instead of fighting over the usual 20-33%, the battle will be over the 10%. This nation is as polarized now as it ever was, perhaps more than ever, certainly one of the most ever periods. There will be a lot of states in play as the margins were razor thin in 2000. And which side gets out and votes - as some of these primary results are showing record turnouts, that is something good for my side. People are motivated. 2k4 - not to argue but to learn: why will you not vote for Kerry? who do you not want to vote for Bush? (I disagree with you on the econ thing, the % of deficit is highest and adding to the total deficit is just putting us where the USSR was economically in 1988 - juist before bankruptcy hits - but no need for us to argue that ehre and now, we have uintil November for that, I am curious for the sake of learning why not Kerry and why not Bush but why Bush over Kerry)
  14. 2K4, karl rove's nightmare is that the Dem's race will keep going on and allow the Dems to dominate the news coverage. That cannot be purchased at any price. But you would have the Dems unite behind Kerry who you will not vote for? That logic escapes me. There are no perfect candidates out there. Kerry is not my first choice but he is a good man with a good record who will do far more for the country than the destroyer of the economy we have in there now. The current dude is a moral and political coward to present a budget with a half trillion deficit and not include any funding for the war in Iraq, etc. How could he not include that? That alone should make a thinking American vote for the other side because nothing is more dishonest and deceitful than having our service people in harms way in a war that he initiated and said was necessary and not include any funding for it because he wants to keep down the public size of his bigger by 100% deficit than we have ever had. Bush has no courage, no convictions, only dishonor and deception and the budget proposal proves it.
  15. you alone are thinking that way as long as there is a race, the message is staying out there on the news, dominating the political discussion - once the Democratic race is over, it loses its lead off the news every night status - the best thing is if the remaining candidates run for a few more weeks or several months sharpening their attacks on Bush - this is the regular season sharpening those skills for the post season and if one goes goofy and attacks the other Dems? Then that person paints himself into a corner and makes the remaining candidates and ultimate winner look good as it is we have 3 or 4 guys out there taking on Bush rather than 1 and that is all good - it is like in baseball - the closer the race, the more news focus- and to combat the $200 millions that Bush has raised the Dems need to continue to get their message out there by a close race and keep the free news focus on just a few weeks ago we were told to unite behind Dean - look what happened - too early yet - although your tracking pools are saying the voters will unite behind the ultimate candidate - too early yet to close that process - Clark and Kerry made wonderful speeches last night and as the campaign goes on will only get better -
  16. send me your webpage with your campaign contribution link and off it goes! I have decided, I am voting for Edwards this Saturday! maybe looking at your sig has had an effect on me!
  17. you expect Karl Rove to get arrested?
  18. not a lieberman fan, no. I have some Kucinich baseball style political cards - if you PM me your address I will mail them to you as well as some Dean bumper stickers. I have enough political memorbilia sitting around, be glad to part with some. Heads has been suggesting Edwards all along - I'd look at him again - for me it is whoever is the nominee, I work my ass of for - but for Heads' sake, I just made a contribution to Edwards campaign, which means I have given money to Dean, Edwards, Graham, and Clark thus far.

  20. brandofan, flash, earlier today someone posted in a different thread but the courtesy asked for is not extended to others which is why someone can say Someone wants to take shots at me, they will. Its all ok. I'm not going to hash this out because I know where it started and I have hopes that given the passage of time and perhaps a few White Sox winning streaks everything will be ok again. PA is a good poster and a good Sox fan. He is ok. His friends speak well of him. That must be respected, as PA must be. And Brando, you called the name thing right. I don't like seeing my name tossed out by people who are not saying it as a friend. Its my thing. No one sees me tossing other people's names out here other than Jas, who is fine with his name being used. It is a matter of respect for the wishes of others. A lot of folks don't want their real names thrown around out here, others don't care. cwsox is not my name (although it is my license plate). But I am starting to like *****. BrandoFan, you know that in the Scriptures the name of God was so holy it is never spelled out - if someone wants to treat "cwsox" with that same holiness, it only calls attention to the word and backfires on the intent. Oh well. Life is filled with inconsistencies. and I am done commenting on this and leave this discssion with good wishes for everyone
  21. Sharpton and Kucinich will stay in for a long time because they have nothing to lose and can hang in. But they are not factors. Lieberman is out, tonight. He is about to announce out now. Dean is toast, over, done, he doesn't know it. He did something to energize the party but its over. Clark - if he wins Oklahoma, he hangs in, If he loses, he has won nothing. I am for Clark, but I might real easily chnage my vote to Edwards this Saturday in the Michigan caucus/ For what it is worth, I am the county chair here and am running the county caucus (we have two sites). Edwards - Kerry - will he happy with anyone. I will work hard for whoever the nominee is. You too athomeboy? I doubt it will be Kerry/Edwards ticket - two Senators - hasn't been done I don't think snce 1960.
  22. NO! we haven't had a brawl in this forum in what, 3 hours and 37.6 minutes? C'mon people, let's fight with each other about something we have no control over and will be matter of personal opinion anyway!
  23. only good thing about a 14,999 is no one at the bar will top me for the month - in January I got topped for the first time in 16 months, had 2nd and 3rd (and 6 out of the top 10 scores) with two 14000+ games but someone edged me by a 100 or so and being the 3rd they will have to look at that 14,999 all month!
