  1. gotta be a certain age maybe Righteous Brothers You've Lost that Lovin Feelin Unchained Melody just inducted in Rock and Roll hall of fame your prof will know and shed a tear they were just leaving the hotel for the campus for the concert and he died just that fast, didn't even get him to the hospital just blocks away - I know that area well cuz I lived right in the middle of it - Righteous Brothers is music I've known my whole life and what good guys they both were
  2. he just died in Kalamazoo about a mile from where I lived, just before a concert on the Western Michigan campus - tenor in the Righteous Brothers - a very unexpected death the news is still breaking on Kalamazoo news
  3. no, not really, but the post was too obvious to pass up - first thing I thought of as I read the paper today
  4. actually, I do - I am a major CLee fan - if all of our players improved year to year as much as CLee does... and I didn't post originally in green because I am not sarcastic, because I hope that some day he does get one just to show what hard work can do
  5. I am still shocked, Gold Gloves awarded. and CLee did not win one

Ringo, one of great drummers of all times - look at all the types of music he played perfectly for - of course the Beatles had influences on them but they changed everything - everything - nothing today musically exists without having been influenced by them - rock would have died in the mid 60s and it all would ahve been so different, maybe unless you lived it and saw the cataclysmic sea change pre and post beatles it would be more evident than hindsight allows... cuz I cannot think of anything culturally since February 1964 that matches the impact of the Beatles first appearance on Ed Sullivan and then the massive changes the Beates wrought in the directions they took from Meet the Beatles to Sgt Peppers to White Album and Revolver to Let it be - that was an incredible creative journey and simply changed everything everything they changed it all Like talking about printing books without mentioing Guttenberg

for matching Luther and Calvin in under 5 minutes, you earn a one time exemption from harsh things thrown your way for questioning the Beatles supremecy - do it again about the Beatles and even if you post about Melanchthon and Zwingli and Bucer and Oecelcampadius it won't save you the Beatles - everythiog today flows from them. They cannot be over rated. They are sui generis. PS Some day tell me how you know the Luther-Calvin relationship - I have been re-researching that recently for about the 3,000th time in my life

you could be banned for dumb post of the year The Beatles are as over rated as Mozart, Beethoven, Einstein, Luther, and Edison.
  9. I think that is one reason we got him back - I agree that Sandy will be coaching for us within a few years - 2nd generation coach too - Sandy has been preparing to coach all through his playing days, which I deeply respect
  10. Um...I am in college and only had a part time job. But I did pay my way to 15 games this year. I was hoping the would tell people I was teasing - well, kind of - I do believe you have to support the team by being there - if you don't go, kind of like someone who never votes b****ing about who gets elected - and obviously living in Oregon (although I live in Michigan and am there most weekends, may still put on more miles! ) or California (loved SNL's pictures of the massive fires and the announcement, "God has cast his ballot in the recall...") it is tough to go often! Having been a college student and still able to remember those years, I would say any student who gets to 15 games is doing damn good - that is about what I averaged I think, I was always in the 10-15 range - studied for many a final in the left stand grand stands back in the day
  11. I give JR multi $1,000s every year to help accomplish raising the payroll - what are you doing to help?
  12. I always thought they had a good relationship in Chicago. Of course Pudge hasn't played since 1994. Every White Sox fan knows there is only ONE Pudge, and he wore 72 and never played for no Marlins or Rangers.
  13. Not since they fired Poppy Hildago...
  14. Last time we wanted ARod, we got Clayton. I am scared of wanting ARod again!
  15. "Our Ozzie... just as whacked, just not from drugs!"
  16. I forget that some of the fans here are so very, very young! I used to think that One Dog must not be a good nickname until I saw his license plate "OneDog." So he liked it, so it must have been ok. I still want Dybzinski!
  17. very, very true. And to the question about Ozzie's quote: there was no 100% on it. That is afterards spin addition and simply not true. If people are happy with Ozzie, be happy with the real Ozzie who could be rude to fans and said things that weren't smart. I was a big Ozzie fan for most of the time that he was a player but his act wore thin over the years. Today's big talk press conferance was totally unimpressive. He may have lost control of the team today. Did the Sox need more passion in 2003? Maybe. Then we could have hired Beyonce Knowles. she'd supply some passion and energy. Just because Ozzie is wired up doesn't mean he can supply what we need. And the team that won the 2003 World Series did not have a big talking manager, but someone who obviously could motivate. If I were an employee and Ozzie was being made my supervisor and said the things on his first day that Ozzie said today, I'd be rolling my eyes saying this jerk will never last but it will be unpleasant until then. I hope to be proven wrong. I make a sizable financial investment in this team every year. And right now not feeling at all good about next year.
  18. I bet it will be #20. Dybzinski
  19. we knew what you meant - you can go back and edit your post to make it sound like you wanted -
  20. I would love to be proven wrong. And some of the managers I liked on Day One did do the job - remember I am old enough to go back to when Lopez (we got a guy from Cleveland?) and LaRussa (who is this guy, he never managed before) were hired and there are others that I would argue did the job. If next October I am watching the World Series at USCF, I will happily admit I was wrong. I don't know that Gaston was the perfect choice either. Not sure who I would have gone with. Just not convinced on this one at all, not a bit. It won't be proven to me until I see it on the field.
  21. Is there a link to this quote? I've heard that this was half the quote, that the entire quote actually was, "The players don't owe anything to the fans but 100%." Does anyone know where I could find a link to the Q&A this quote comes from? I've tried searching via google, but couldn't find anything. I am just curious to see the whole Q and the whole reply. Thanks! there was no "but 100%" on that for the original quote. CK remembers this as vividly as I do so maybe he can add something here.
  22. just not happy about this a lot of big talk - yeah, lets pound on chests and thump the air - from a guy who never laid off a pitch and once said he didn't need the fans. I'm not going to daily b**** and moan about him - I wish him every success - but I just want to be on record, especially after reading some of his quotes as posted here, that I am not happy about this at all.
  23. and if you ever walk instead of swinging at ball 4 like I always did, you are outta here!"
