    MLB vs NFL

really? wow - I didn't realize they went against each other last week - I always get my opera tickets for Monday because I figured that when the Sox go into the playoffs there would be no baseball games on Monday - so how was the rioting anyway?
  3. with the Yankees/Red Sox game moved to tonight because of Sunday's rainout, that means an MLB payoff game goes against Monday Night Football - if this has happened before, I don't remember offhand - MLB has always scheduled around MNF - I'll be watching baseball; what will everyone else be doing?
  4. for Murcie's grandmother (and also Jason's and Flash Tizzle's): psalm 121 1 I lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come? 2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4 He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.
  5. I call him ELo too and your idea is great - back in the day we had the Left Stand Grand Stand Fan Club and it was to be a part of and added to Comiskey fun - anything like this is great, so good luck and congrats to you and your friends!
  6. the psalm for prayer for your grandmother for tonight is Psalm 121, which I pray for her and recommend it to you -

    Marlins win

why are they playing the games then?

    Marlins win

Way. Just do it. And it certainly can happen. Beating both of them is not impossible, it is doable.
  10. God would pitch a perfect game... Beckett is my new favorite Marlins pitcher!
  11. it would be so sweet for the Marlins to win their 2 games in Chicago this week - that Marlin pitcher Beckett was really awesome and the sam-me k called was the best part of the game, in the 4th
  12. this is the post I most agree with here - if he gets on base right now he will be very popular in my household...
  13. I am watching the Marlins and pulling for them. Agreed on their pitcher. Sam-me's tantrum and then K'ing on a called K was hysterical.
  14. I understand the bias in your analysis - but the bias is there. The Big 10 ended up with 3 teams in the top 10 last season - 3, not 2. And the Big 10 has traditionally been noted (not always accurately but enoughto lend real truth to it) the Big 2 and the Little 8 (or 9). Each season there has always been a few other very quality teams since parity has come into fullest effect. The 3 loss team in the Big 10 last year that ended up ranked 9th nationally was in fact the third place team int he Big 10 but a testament to that program is it takes beating that team to make a claim to anything. For sheer consistency, that one program in the Big 10 is the best. Most posters here were not alive when that one school last had a losing season, or didn't play a bowl game, and the bowl streak would be longer if Big 10 rules had been different in the 60s and up to 1975. To have that many years since a losing season is a remarkable achievement. Michigan continues as the gold standard in the Big 10. As I see it, nothing can be determined yet and no one should be assuming anything with the games ahead. The weakness of MSU has very properly noted in this thread: its offense consists of one player. OSU is missing Clarett (or perhaps not missing him as the disruptive case may be). Iowa and Minnesota - still to be determined how really good they are. Wisconsin and Purdue, still to be determined. Michigan, still to be determined. Michigan's weakness had been glaringly apparent: its punting team. The only weak teams in the Big 10 this year are Illinois, Indiana, and Northwestern, and Penn State is still a mytery. And having said about Illinois, I do not consider this Saturday's game in Ann Arbor a gimme given the history of the two schools. (And Illinois is the surprise disappointment in the Big 10). Of course the Big 10 season is one of teams beating up each other. A four way tie for 1st would not be unprecedented (even in recent history), not a shock this year. This season more than most needs to be played out before anyone claims any bragging rights. NIU is in an interesting position. As noted elsewhere, they really aren't the 12th best team in the country. The polls are an art, not a science. They deserve a 15 ranking or so because of their wins and their undefeated status but almost all of us would take a bunch of teams ranked below NIU over NIU if the two teams played. The rankings aren't that scientific and shoudn't be used that way. What happens if both NIU and TCU run the table - is that your Sugar Bowl game? hardly, even if every other team in the country has one loss by season end. But what the MAC has done this season and what NIU has done this season, those things are sweet for them and are to be enjoyed thoroughly. I just Western Michigan had gotten in on some of that action. Good luck Huskies!
  15. as I get more info (and I will) I will pass it on if you want to dialogue with the musicians directly about equipment or whatever, well, I will Pm you a link to the list

this is a horrible source but until I can figure out how to obtain the attachment, I can only give you a link something once in USCF but not there now
  17. what does "I hear Dontrelle pulled a Kerry Wood today" mean? as for the rest of your post: it may happen - it will be just be one more thing they will prattle on about. The damage has been done that they made the playoffs and we didn't. on the other hand, what are the odds of them losing 3 straight or losing the world series? Better than them winning it. and I always cheer for the AL team anyway so go AL champ...
  18. don't pay attention to anything an MSU says about football since they know so little about it -some of us remember not so long ago when CMU knocked off MSU two years in a row... NIU played a good game today on the road and it was CMU's homecoming - no team is required to win every game by 63 points, it is just win and NIU has done that so congrats to them for their season thus far - a MAC team will never get a BCS bid (as structured) but sure would be cool if NIU went undefeated into a bowl game - with scholarship limits and all, parity has reduced the difference between the conferances and the MAC has had a good year so far. Miami Ohio looks very tough and several other MAC teams are doing quite well.
  19. for your first paragraph, I way agree. Ignite was cool. I don't know about Amy's whereabouts now or or anything.. Wasn't Chiseteve like cubs evil incarnate? He was a persistent s.o.b. whatever.
