  1. I am going to repeat myself from another post of mine because this has been overlooked in all the discussion of the trade: I think everyone has forgotten the Schoeneweis factor - we were down to three on our staff, we have no number 5 and now we have no number 4 with Scott's injury - we will win more games with Garcia pitching and Sandy and company catching than we will with Miguel catching our rotating platoon of mostly ineffectual 4s and 5s
  2. IRod is already a fixture in Detroit - he is very media savvy and the town loves him - the Tigs just swept Arizona and they are a much better team, their recent additions have been signing extended contracts and no one of quality from Detroit is going anywhere
  3. we got this new catcher Ben whatever and now we know why Jamie Burke was called up - with Sandy anchoring the catching staff we will do ok - as I said elesewhere it was vey tough for me to lose Miguel Olivo but quality to get quality and I heard Sandy say he wants to pay another year or two and that will allow him to shepherd some young catching talent into reliable catchers while we got the starter we desparately needed having a great young catcher is not that great when the quality of the pitching staff isn't that high - I thjink everyone has forgotten the Schoeneweis factor - we were down to three on our staff, we have no number 5 and now we have no number 4 with Scott's injury - we will win more games with Garcia pitching than we will with Miguel catching our rotating platoon of mostly ineffectual 4s and 5s
  4. other than what Cheat said, get there earlier, again, try using pershing - I am parked and walking through the lots and at the stadium while the car in front of me on the Dan Ryan that exits at 35th is just reaching 35th - or do the el, my friends and I aprk at Rosemont or Cumberland and have a niuce leisurlky trip in and the trip out is amazing fast, they have those 8 car trains all primed and ready to haul us away
  5. depends what lot - I oft use the lots entered off of pershing and this weekend the one actually on pershing when I wasn't able to take the el and I was out really fast both time all the people who use 35th street to find parking, well, you wait a long time some time - go a little further out in Sox lots and it can be a breeze
  6. I like the part where Maggs says he'd miss too much to leave the Sox his putting Nair in ELo's hair product now that should get everyone to read the article if they were planning to skip it!
  7. some day I will convince you that you are writing some wicked stuff if I got an actor friend to read your stuf with me in a Firesign Theatre/Congress of Wonders kind of way, you ight get the quality of your work - that's Firesign Theatre with a touch of Monty Pytin's Lumberjack routine - Beatles note, when George Harrison wanted to be incogito he registered in a hotel as Jack Lumber - give yourself some credit here kid
  8. I will bet you $1 the name is spelled Man Soo Lee I agree that fans need to get out and I note with other posters that they have been - I traveled over 500 miles for this series, and face majoir kennel bill tomorrow - we all are doing what we can - but those who are holding out, it is far more fun to be there, USCF is more home to me than my living room, and go if you can and we can't judge those who don't since we don't know their financial or transportation or work or or situations I have to the say the UD lines were very short, they were giving fast service and in three gaes lost maybe 1/2 inning total in waiting in line for concessions and johns - the Sox are running the place most well
  9. I am honored and humbled that what I posted was expressive for others as well and I am grateful for the kind words, thank you, thank you
  10. i take it you don't want to be a member
  11. timo fan club sig and roster is being worked on - thanks for the great response and we will take more names - I swear, been going to games since.... you don't need to know the year I saw my first game. I have never seen a player distract and disrupt a pitcher as Timo did to Zambrano and the Crede home run was all Timo Timo! Timo! Timo! Its Timo Time! people more creative than me can work on some Timo slogans since mine suck but we'll get the sig and rister ready for you all in a day or so
  12. from another thread by me: sam-me was hot dog after his two home runs so if Timo showed him up, way to go Timo! did you allsee how Timo drove Zambrano crazed in Saturday's game? Whatever that is about, I have never seen a pitcher get so rattled by a player at first and Timo wasn't even taking a one step lead but Zambrano lost it to the ultimate degree and the resulting crede home run was with a huge assist to Timo for shaking Zambrano up so much if Timo wants to get into the heads of the players on the other teams, may God be with him! I am starting the Timo fan club - I just loved he way he drove Zamrano nuts anyone wants to be a Timo fan club memeber let me know! I am still in awe of the way he got in Zambrano's head which caused the home run ball to Crede on Saturday -
  13. oh damn if I comment on allthe things he is wrong on... well, not enough time for that... so lets see, what do I say... ok, if you want to taunt yourself, go ahead - self taunting can be fun and reduces the need for a bondage S&M partner... :banghead

  15. I have taught my grandson the no taunt rule - sometimes we win sometimes we lose sometimes we are right sometimes we are wrong so never taunt waving crows or whatever at each other is silly and dumb because sometimes we win sometimes we lose sometimes we are right sometimes we are wrong so never taunt

here's the real test: when someone says the number 23 do you picture: Ryne Sandberg Michael Jordan Robin Ventura for me #23 is always Robin
  17. Ozzie is claiming Garcia is his best friend and I suspect KW is rather sure Garcia will sign with us and that is why the deal was done this thread is getting out of control so it chills down now or I'll close it - without blaming anyone, we chill in some of the taunts or the threads shuts and if it keeps up, make my day, I feel all mighty after seeing the Sox win their 4th straight series from the cubs
  18. in my opinion it was 2-1 us all weekend and Saturday and Sunday the fans who wanted the games more were very into the game and were all wearing silver and black - and damn if the Sox didn't play some smart aggressive baseball and the cubs looked like flubs at a lot of the times - Ozzie had the team playing well and baker's teram looked at times like it did not know how to play the game I never thought an Ozzie coached team would do all the little things so well as we haven't done in years and I congratulate Ozzie and was very proud of the team play I saw all weekend

your avatar... in the 60s it was Clapton is God and I must insist that God is God... but saturday when Shingo came into the game I felt a sense of comfort in our closer that I have not felt in a long, long, long time and I did offer thanks to God for Mr Zero

sox gear is for Sox games... I don't even wear Michighan gear to Sox games but thanks for the idea for the rest of the season I have some great silver and black Kerry shirts during one of the "what if" things they had a picture of the current one-stolen-term-and-out president and when his picture was on the screen I said something that was very amusing to the Sox fans in our section but I'll save that someday for the SL&P forum -

my sunglasses and my basic black sox cap with the plainly printed "white sox" wording, no logo... that cap is like 15-2 at USCF and is one of the four that is in my usual rotation so I am sure you've seen it before
  23. after the game strolling back to my car I saw a friend at a post game tail gate and he told me the news and I was stunned - I thought we were set at catcher for a loooooonnnnnnngggggggg time - I was so stunned, I said, "we gave up Olivo?" and then couldn't talk myself after that for a while and then I said if I were GM I'd never trade anyone because I like all of our players too much to trade them away I hate like hell to lose Olivo it was a hell of a good trade - you got to do what you got to do and this was not the first time Olvio has been traded and may not be the last - when I was a kid my best bud was the son of a cubs player who got traded to the Sox and then got traded out west - it hurts to lose someone to a trade - it is baseball and baseball is a business and I am going to give Olivo a standing O next time we see him in two weeks and after applauding him I will cheer for Garcia and all of our pitchers to shut Olivo down and out all weekend - I will always follow his career and wish him well against everyone but us this was a good trade and to get quality you have to give up quality - the Navaro for Eldred/Valentin trades happen only once a decade or less
