I made him work off the beers by running up and down the ramps a couple of times and if you think I am kidding, guess again.... I believe the Mrs. is now going out for the Olympic track team after the ramp runs!

what an honor to meet Jim at last! Jim and is lovely wife are cool people and I just wish we had had more time (and a win!) and a place to visit a while - I really enjoyed meeting one of the great Sox fans of all time!

Constant trade rumors post garcia trade
cwsox replied to Whitewashed in '05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
agreed -
espn announcers talking about how much Freddy loves Ozzie, golf stories during the world series, and how happy Freddy will be with the white sox offense so he'll want to stay a Sox

Olivo is wearing #7 now and the ESPN crew keeps loving the Sox acquring Garcia

I'd sure like to know what Ozzie said to ELo on the mound - ElLo was looking like he wasn't going to make it, that he didn't have it at all, and Ozzie ran to the mound, said something very briefly, Ozzie left the mound almost immediately, and ELo was a different pitcher the rest of the game. Whatever word or few words Ozzie said, it sure was effective! remember when nardi would go to the mound and the next pitch ended as a home run?

they were coming off their playoffs in 98 - we won those 3 at Wrigley as you say - destroyed their season they never recovered - and was so unexpected for us - the first inkling of what the 2000 team had the potential to be - I went to the nexrt game, the following Monday against Tampa Bay and I thought the place would be packed with thrilled Sox fans but it was the usual 12,000 crowd - I got four tickets for the Friday game at our place and a tradition was born with my friends - that Friday night game at our place in 99 was so tense - without looking it up I think it was 3-2 in the 5th and then the tension of would we keep them from scoring was just incredible - we won - I got tickets for the Sunday night game even though it was sold out by my using the "i'm just a country boy from rural Michigan and it would mean so much, do you please have just two tickets for anywhere" routine which was great because the guys in line in front of me were loud, arrogant, oh come on you gotta have something obnoxious to the ticket guy and they got turned away with nothing - that was the game Baldwin lost to the 2-12 Traschel and if I recall correctly that was the only game we lost to the cubs in 1999 and I never liked JB much after that

Ever since then I have to be in my seat for the Home Run of the Century so I can stand and applaud - saluting the current Sox and what a memory rush - Not many people do it anymore and I wish they would

I saw that car, had sox suck on the side windows and frank swallows over the rear window, very huge letters and very obvious and very much asking for retaliation - it was in Lot E on the walkway that everyone from all the south lots take - you wave a red flag in the bull's face, you get gored

saw the best fight ever on saturday in section 533 in the 9th inning and following - there is a female cubs fan out there who is as small and skinny as a model but she is one tough customer - it took 6 security guards about 20 minutes to move her from row 12 (approximately) to the entryway - and then there was the brawl going on around that action with mostly drunk cub fans throwing beer and punches and maybe aother 10 security guards - my friend who works at the cap shop told me on Sunday that on Saturday a group of Sox fans were going to throw a cubs fan over the railing until security stopped them - that is so wrong and so evil and yet how many times have I thought about doing that

you know, I suspect I might! did she have a stuffed animal covered with Sox pins?

7-0 against NY and Cleveland (greatest week of my life) and then came home and went 4-3 against the same - that is when the world took notice of the Sox - one of JM's greatest managerial feat was we won Friday as we all just saw and then won saturday and on Sunday JM did not pull out all stops, he rested some players (especially relievers) and we lost the Sunday game to the cubs. Some folks were unhappy. However that day of rest was pivotal in our going 11-3 in 14 straight days of games with the Tribe and Yankees (actually 13-4 in 17 straight days of games with tribe NY and cubs).

the cubs won a division title in 1984 and the Sox outdrew them and the problem of the 1984 team was cocaine

the Force must not be with you!

you know I always associate you with Koch - I vividly remember the ramp speech from a certain Canadian that Koch was no damn good!
-
you understate it

thanks for the heads up on the broadcast! I just reviewed my scorecard and newspaper clippings and other stuff from that game - there was a special jacket for the diamond view and I was amazed at all the clippings I kept of that game - I remember it well - two of my buddies left after sam-me's homer but my best friend and I stayed for the entire game of course and then we hung around the park for as long as we did, soaking up the joy, and then we joined the continuing party in the parking lots until we finally had to leave - that was perhaps the best post game celebration ever I was wearing my best vintage jersey and somehow a spot of ketshup got on it - I got to my "when the Sox play in Chicago" home in Glenview about 3 am and my hostess hearing someone enter her house at 3 am came downstairs to see what was going oin and she was nude - forgot to put her gown on (it was a hot night weather wise) and anyway about 3:30 am we got the stain out of the jersey and I still get grief about that "if you wear that jersey again keep it clean or get here before 11 pm, damn it!" this was the game that "the Milkman delivers" thing really took hold - wait til the 14th and you'll see I forgot PK used to wear the high socks

agreed - and besides just having played an intense series there has to be some emotion over losing Olivo so just as well we have this day off since we then have six big and emotional games in enemy ballparks
-
and here is hoping his best friend status with Ozzie comes into play... somehow I suspect it does
-
thanks Jas for posting this - I feel a lot better about Davis having read this all
-
that was very profound and bears repeating!
-
you and I share something - our alma maters (or in your case, alma mater to be) winning national championships! I was thinking of you yesterday and am sorry that I didn't remember to post this ysterday - congrats to Cal State Fullerton and their good luck charm Jas on winning the College World Series!
-
I thought of you when I was at USCF yesterday and saw the Koch jerseys marked down to $50 - I was wondering how many you wanted
-
welcome, I thought you were one of the better posters at "that other place" and am really glad you came here!
