those are all good posters - BSharp, GregoryEtc, Meg, others too - but just too few of them over there any more,. critical mass has been lost - what is really annoying is all the new posters that go on that board and the first post is a real trash on the Sox or on Frank or whoever - just bitter invective at our own - and that is their first post as a Sox fan? I can't find a link but Tuesday's Kalamazoo Gazette (which I just read today) says that the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame failed to elect Pete Rose - Joe Carter and Kirk McKaskil made it but not Pete the Hustler - gotta love Canada!

Was it Doc Ellis who threw a no hitter (or maybe even a perfect game, II have to look this up) when he was higher than a kite and scared the s*** out of the catcher and the batters for 9 innings? I wonder if they were sober if they could have done it - something about not knowing what you are doing takes the pressure off - but I don't think anyone can make a career this way!

The MLB Sox board gets worse every day. It is like the world's largest collection of assholes and a few nice people. Those of you who are friends with ChiSoxJohn, join me in encouraging him to come over here. He is about the only reason I still go there and I have had it with that dismal place. I am so very glad I have this place to come to with real Sox fans who know something about baseball and the Sox - in fact, you all know a lot.

Durham would have strange lapses though when it appeared his head wasn't in the game. I always like Ray a whole lot more than most of my friends and never understood the bashing. But sometimes when he had those lapses I would be so unsure of how good he was.

I thought The Sporting News was the bible of baseball? Has that changed? Is this an old school/new school thing? Or has TSN fallen? I haven't read it for a while. Used to read it cover to cover once upon a time.

I disagree on Santo. He is not HOF to me. Minoso should be in. And I would have taken Brooks Robinson over Santo anyday. I made a special trip to Comiskey in 1977 to see Brooks' last appearance at Comiskey, he was special enough to make that trip.
