KW kept stressing at SoxFest that we don't need the 5th starter that much in the first 55 games - so I am thinking that maybe what you suggest JM will do is exactly what will happen
-
if the Sox go 173-0, I'll become a Bills fan
-
never say never - that's what I thought at your age about myself - the invincibilty of youth - those lower jaw teeth will shift over time, not a damn thing you can do about it, just a matter of how much.
-
Garland won what, 12 last year- given that he should be improving and all the rest, he better win at least 15-16.
-
I was thinking the same thing myself... for the comment, "In what is sure to be one of the coldest U.S. Cellular Field openers, and the earliest, in a long time..." I am sure it won't be any colder than the home opener of 2001 - on 4-6-01 - that was the coldest that I have ever been at Comiskey. And the damn game went into extra innings and we lost, too.
-
I live in a town of 8,000 so I know what small town life is - small crowds at USCF are 3 times larger than this whole community
-
24 bombs for Ordonez? I think hell have more than that... I missed that - as Jason said, it will (at least) 42
-
Frank hit 29 home runs last season with a lot lower batting average. If Frank hits 305, his home run total will be more than 8 more than last season - in my opinion.
-
So if Jimenez is injured and out for a few weeks/months, what will we do?
-
Frank can carry the team like no one I have ever seen (I think I posted that elsewhere recently). I see your point, but if Jimenez has a tough year he is replacable but if Frank has a tough year the whole offense suffers with him. Frank has a great year and everyone does.

after what I spent on my own braces a few years ago and all that pain and agony, there is no way I am going through that again so damn sure I wear my retainer - so used to it that I feel weird without it - which is good, because that means I remember to wear it - ain't ever going through that braces thing again!
-
won't matter what shade of green, I hate green and own nothing green and will never wear green* and can't cheer for anything green** By the way, my grandson got braces and got to pick the colors and they tried to force Green and White on him but he refused - he has Maize and Blue braces which is great and matches my Maize and Blue retainer - we do Maize and Blue and we do Silver and Black and that is it! *other than the appropriate green vestments to wear on green Sundays in church but that is the limit but that is for God **with the exception of Lane Tech and that's not green, that is myrtle

I like your thinking here!
-
It will be a tie, each will win 31.
-
Excellent - glad that we avoid that controversy this year and Frank being at ST now is a message that this season is to be taken serious!
-
Green????? I dunno about green........ Green would be hideous. Ever see that team from Oregon play in those horrid green uniforms? :puke Our silver and black is classic. It is perfect.

so we win in 2003, and then for the next 49 years would be happy to have a cubs like record? Every year, year in and year out, suck? For 49 years? I am 50 years old. I may never see a world series title in my life but I'd sure as hell prefer to be in the playoffs every year rarther than suck for 49 years. If we had the Faustian choice, as we are presented with it here, I'd rather be good all the time than suck for 49 years, having a clue of how long that is.
-
a chocie between having a Braces like history and be in the playoffs every year and have a well respected team every year or a Marlins history and win once and suck afterwards - no choice at all, the Braves like history. I wouldn't want a team that sucked every year. I would rather be dissapointed with an annual playoff loss than have a cubs like history of continued failure.

know nothing about KY geography - are you near Churchhill Downs?
-
south dakota? I love (parts of) that state - considered moving there a few times - was thinking about Lead just yesterday in fact - what is so wrong with North Dakota? Gees, Bismarck and Pierre are the banes of students learning the state capitals everywhere - your family in government? do they have rap in the Dakotas?
-
looks like really bad softball uniforms could they be more loud?

Then I think it is important that I point out to you that when Strom Thurmond ran as a Segragationist, he was a member of the Democratic Party. Actually he left the Democratic Party, Humphrey made a speech at the 1948 convention for civil rights and that is when Thurmond walked out and ran as a 3rd party candidate - States Right Party - candidate in that odd year when there were two third parties. He did not run as a member of the Democratic party. He returned and stayed until the civil rights era of the 1960s for the Republican Party because the Dems were becoming the party of the civil rights movement. He also left because he had no clout at all in the national party because of his views and history.

Psycho, thanks for the links - I will check them later today - you are very right that South and Central American concerns are very real and very ignored and there is horrendous violence that we have been oblivious to

Chicago 1952-1975, 1976-77 Michigan 1975-76, 1977-current I would love to know how all the Californians became Sox fans but suspect the answer is just one word: Intelligence. and where are you from?
-
do you have a link for the archived show? The kid is spending the weekend with me next week and we are going to work on our first display case so he can have a safe place for his Sox collectables and he (as I) would love to hear the show!
