  1. I know FlaSoxxJim just saw the VH1 R&R HOF show as I did - Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty were so gracious in their intros while everything else was self serving for the most part (althogh I did identify with Kid Rock's comments on Michigan being so vital in the intro for Bob Seger) and the two numbers Lynne and Petty, with Dhanni, did, Handle with Care and While My Guitar Gently Weeps (interestingly, neither one of them solo songs by George - I would have loved to have heard Wah Wah and Any Road), just rocked - Dhani still stuns me with his exact resemblance to his father Prince joined Lynne, Petty, and Dhanni for WMGSS and Prince really just blew that guitar work to the heavens and back, Hare Krishna, I thought Clapton's work on that song on Concert for George was definitive and Prince found a way to play it totally different than Clapton and yet set his own standard, Dhanni was just grinning and beaming watching Prince rock out the show is being rebroadcast n VH1 all week for those who want to hear some good music - and for once can we have no slams at Yoko - it was so gracious to see her and Sean there for Olivia and Dhanni -

    Bow Flex.

Pilates then, try pilates core strength is essential and what you are going with and pilates is so excellent at building core strength I agree with you on bow flex, not the way I would go either

    Bow Flex.

RPS, I have to go with th go to the club route but in addition to cario and weights I would suggest pilates or yoga, whichever you can find. Both work excellently for flexibility and for core strengthening. Don't reject it flat it until you have done it three times in 7-8 days and can see and feel the results.
  4. Hope Nossek has taught Harold how to steal signs
  5. Da Mare for Richard M? Surely you suggest. That was the title Royko gave to Richard J many years ago which leads to a dumb joke: DePaul used to be called The Paul until Mayor Daley became mayor I will grant you prairie (I used to play in one where the SCORE/XRT tower is and I look at that lot and think we called that a prairie...), pop and gym shoes, the Lake, sliders, Fields, guys, and braht on the NW side we always said Jewel I think southern Illinois is anything south of the 95th and Dan Ryan el stop and anything north, west, or south not in "Chicagoland" is "downstate" I have a hell of a time (helovatim) giving directions to anyone not from Chicago or getting suburban directions because to me all the expressways have names not numbers

Public schools are funded by many people who support and don't support right wing protestant values or conservative Roman Catholic ones either. Shouldn't those who don't support it have as much of a voice as those who do? and of all the hundreds of thousands of titles in school and public libraries that present one view, what is the scary part about having 1 or 5 or 10 books that present annother view? the highest rates of suicide in teenagers is by gay kids who feel ostracized, condemned, hated, beaten up, and every other measure of rejection - and young people, struggling with identity issues, are going to hear so much gay bashing from society and friends, you begrudge the 1 or 5 or 10 books that the kid can find shelter in? Is that such a threat to anyone? if one kid's life is saved by finding a book that says what he feels inside as natural and normal (although not normative, I'll agree) is ok, then God's richest blessings on that kid and book and exactly how many straight kids do you think will find their lives shattered, shattered, by that book being around? You'll be there for your daughter. A lot of kids with orientation issues have no one. Don't begrudge them a book or a few books. It may be the only solace they have that they are evil, alone, or condemned, that it is ok to feel the way they feel. The original separation of church and state in school case in Illinois was in the 1920s and it was by Catholic parents who sued to stop having protestant values taught in the class room - the need remains - you have your home and your church to teach a child your values but the schools and libraries are for ALL - including and in America what makes s America especially is for those who hold a different or minority position That is what makes this country worth having
  9. hey my friend good to see you! that is an amazing mix up - who ever prints the tickets should have some proof reader's ass in a sling now I take it you are going down to KC - maybe I'll see you at our opening day!
  10. Nossek was not KW's spy and JR never had one that I heard anything real about Nossek was fantastic, the best, at stealing signs and knowing the game and running the team in the manager's absense I hope we have a Joe Nossek day because I would like to say goodbye and thank you
  11. can anyone honestly, putting aside everything else, picture Fisk sitting quietly in the dugout as a bench coach on the bench submitting to the decisions of the manager? there can only be one manager and Fisk would not play second fiddle to anyone, for good or for bad its not a knock a Fisk - he is one of my alltime favorites but personality - he is not a bench coach type at all, never was and never will be
  12. You are so wrong, so very wrong, in many more ways than one never make a statement unless you already know the answer and guess what type of institution I got my MDiv from?

nuke knows little about Christianity or its message other than that in some "I don't go to church" way Jesus never says one word about homosexuality, a point that has been made repeatedly but gets ignored repeatedly by those who place their word over God Yet Jesus condemns violence repeatedly so the deviant lifestyle would be those who serve in the military oh wait, the legions will be out because I said that - my son is in the Marines, in Korea now, on active duty as I believe Nuke is - but the point will be missed by many who choose to miss it but then again whatever Jesus says is a religious matter, not one of the US Constitution which has a Bill of Rights and an Equal Protection Clause to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority and the point of that is missed by many who chose to miss it and some will be outraged because I disagree with them but they miss they point of that too
  14. is that no experience as bench coach Harold Baines?
  15. this news has f***ed up my day rookie excitable manager and no Nossek on the bench.
  16. Lots of folks need to grow up. Back in the 1969 I took my girlfriend to the Museum of Contemporary Art and when we entered into the lower level much to our surprise was a brand new exhibit, wall to wall the whole ower level, of photographs of vaginas. When you are both 16, that comes as a bit of an eye opener. Both of us being cool, we strolled the exhibit and looked at it is we would any other art. And the point was made. The same point as the young woman you described who sat with the veil with the sign "I am not poronograhy." To even things out, when I was newly married we went through the fertility things and my part of that was to go to an andrologist. The office was fileld with posters and various scale models of penis' (penii? penises?). That made me a tad bit uncomfortable... but after a few moments, the point becomes the same -

did you see my porior post - you lose control of what gets introduced to your child the moment they go to school - every classmate and every kid in their school will teach them all kinds of new things long before you think your child should be "exposed" and that is life in the real world - two weeks ago my grandson told me how the official word in the 3rd grade is that if you (a male) wear 1 earring you are straight and 2 earrings you are gay - you know how long it takes to unpack something like that? doesn't match every kindegarten child learning a whole new vocabulary the first week of school including all the words you never taught you will no longer control your child - what you should be aiming for is a relationship where your child asks you about new things they are exposed to, not you attempting to decide what your child is introduced to because that is a losing battle unless you keep the kid chained in the basement put on a sports show in the car on the radio and hear the commerical about "do you climax too soon?" Life will get introduced to your kid whether you like it or not and not according to your schedule. Just strive for the relationship to discuss everything. I am saying this all friend to friend, experienced parent and grandparent to fdriend with 2 or 3 year old.

trust me, when your child starts school, your child will come home with all kinds of things - that first day of kindegarten or preschool or whatever, the age of innocence is gone and it is no longer up to you to decide when your child is first exposed to whatever. Fanof14 - when I was in grade school in Chicago Public Schools in the 1960s we had a gay male 7th grade teacher. Everyone knew he was - everyone knew he was a good teacher - it was very clear that he was a dedicated teacher - and no one ever said a word or thought a second thought about it. My mother once made one offhand reference to it in a commentary, not judgmental way to say she knew he was gay but that was not an issue; my mother commented when he changed his last name to match that of his partner. It was never an issue. He was there before I started kindegarten and was there long after I graduated, was there when my 11 year younger sister was graduated. Things are only an issue when people make them an issue.

I am a Christian too and I don't feel insulted. I do not think GOWT was saying all Christians are jerk. I think he was saying intolerant Christians are "Christian jerks."

I would bet you on the Bible in the library but what does that have to do with this? Many, many, many Biblical scholars and theologians and church bodies would vehemently disagree with the idea that anything in the Bible is "anti" this story. As one story book of many that children read, I would have no problem whatsoever. The children learn about hate all over the place in society (outside of school). That there is one book out of all the books the kids encounter in school that presents this viewpoint, right on! Diversity! Ha! You would stifle diversity by not allowing this book to be presented. When your candidate for president is proposing a constitutional amendment to enshrine in the constitution his own narrow views, please do not discuss diversity unless you put it in green.
