    On-Line Bible Study

Matthew 1-16 is way, way too big a piece of take on at on time, in my opinion the only thing that I would really have time for is what I need to work on each week, the appointed lessons for next Sunday appointed lessons of the RCL one set of studies the texts for this week that gives the 3 lessons and the psalm for the upcoming Sunday and some places of referenace to begin conversation - and another reason I personally would not start with Matthew is one needs some Prime Covenant background and also excludes Jewish posters - but going with the upcoming lessons will assist those who will hear the lessons from the RCL (most mainline protestants and Roman Catholics) as well as allows two Prime Covenant lessons a week so that Jewish posters have something offered the lessons for this next Sunday are at 3 Lent lessons and each week of course the RCL is the source of the lessons that are used on Sunday and follow the church year - then one can bring in international sources such as from Australia resources from down under these are my ideas and suggestions

    Dog Help

et me add that when the dog does what it is supposed to, praise and clap and celebrate the good dog - positive reinforcement is essential - but keep an eye on the dog at all times inside and the moment it looks like it needs to go, take it outsde - it takes time and some false alarms but spend thetime and postive reinforce and it will happen with the pup in the morning get up and obviously check whether th dog was god and when you find the dog was good praise the dog and then go outside - teach a dog postiviely because the dog wants to please - do not use fear or you get worse behavior just as if it were you being trained

I have no comment on any of these
  19. if the show you say was this one pbs description I am not really familiar with thos scholar but I would guess it was very good and solid stuff
  20. as perhaps soxtalk's only memebvr who owns the New Testament in the original koine Greek, the translation "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" is indeed correct and the second one offered was a corrupt translation (corrupt used in a technical sense'" A person ignorant of Greek not knowing the Grek use of articles for every noun would translate incorrectly but I am looking at John 1.1 now and I cannot type Greek characters as my keyboard is not set that way but as I traslate it directly now, 'ev arche vn o logos, kai o logos nv pros ton Theon, kai Theos ev o logos." (I have translitertaed directly into Enlish which is a horrid thing to do but no other way to type it out on my keyboard.) "In the beginninng was the Word and the word was with God and God was the Word." The Greek of John is beautiful poetic language so I would look at the next verse "outos ev ev arche pros ton Theon" and looking at the word placement there of "outos" would go back and redo verse 1 so that verses 1 and 2 now read "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." My transliteration is bad without the roight keyboard. My translation is good. I can assure you there is no reference to "a god" as your friend suggests. In fact the traditional translation (use the New Revised Standard, it is the best current) is correct.

    Concert for George

I actually never heard the Rutles in any way at all. May be undiscoved love of my life. Those years (77-79) were very busy for me in other ways, finishing sem, CPE in Ann Arbor, ordianation, first call, changing parishes, getting married, adopting chlldren - missed a lot of things then not on top 40 raido which is all I had in the car. Float some things my way please and lets see what it does for me.

    Concert for George

I was never a Python fan - nor Rutles fan - but I knew George had saved Life of Brian when the studio backed out last minute I cannot express all I feel watching the concert - when George died I was doing a paper for a masters class in education and I think the paper was due a day or two after George's death - it was on all kinds of stats stuff and journal research but was submitted with a cover sheet of homage for George - how I worked that in I cannot recall but it was an A paper when I got was graded - I put away a lot of my emotions on things like this and then it catches up to me - watching Dhani play throughout this thing, hearing Paul sing All Things Must Pass, watching Clapton so movingly play While My Guitar Gently Weeps - the fact the George ever forgave Clapton at all - Dhani referring to Uncle Ringo - too much emotional resonance for me over too many years - this really is the music of my life and I've been following it for 40 years now, that is a lot of life and a lot of memories - a lot of memories I forgot I had and they keep flooding me now in waves - and then I hear the words to Isn't it a pity and I just get overwhelmed -
  23. I wondered that myself but decided a long time ago - especially here - to leave that one alone...
