  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 01:17 AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmqOSu0Ngz8...layer_embedded#! It appears Cutler played a whole quarter with the MCL injury. Including the two plays at the end of the video, where he didn't slide on a scramble and also blocked Eric Walden. After this whole entire incident, I actually like Cutler more now than I have before. It really highlights his toughness as a player. If you pause the video at the 2:55 mark you really see the weight Pickett has on Cutlers leg. Pickett is listed at 340! Another interesting look is at the 4:06 mark of the video. Watch how he stops himself after the dropback at about the 50 yd line. He hops to keep from planting that foot.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) The Patriots were winning when Brady left and had Drew Bledsoe as the back up. The Bears were down 14 and had Todd Collins coming in. Gigantic difference. Basically, unless something really crazy happened, when Cutler was done, so were the Bears. Guys play hurt all the time. Some guys can block it out enough to perform, some guys can't. If Cutler didn't think he could, or if he figured he couldn't, fine. Who knows, maybe going out again injured him even worse and he missed a part of next season. But it was perhaps the biggest game Cutler will ever play. Walking off the field after a 3 and out, and standing on the sidelines isn't the way most would envision a franchise QB leaving a championship game injured, especially considering the replacement. I'm not calling him a p**** or anything like that, because if he doesn't think he can go, he's going to be bad anyway. I just think some guys almost use being hurt as motivation to be even better, and somehow suck it up during play. I've seen more than a couple players limp around like they are almost crippled then find it in them to play at full strength for 5 to 7 seconds then limp around again. Jay is apparently not one of those guys. We've all had twisted ankles and such, and sometimes the pain is too great to go shovel the driveway, but if you're in high school and you have a game that night, its good to go. It was good enough for him to go out in the first series of the second half. I really just have trouble wondering why there was no chance after that, what with the game's meaning, the score of the game and the alternative. Insanity.
  3. QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) I'll never understand people following a league for the entire year, then as soon as their team is out of it, they don't care about anything in the league all of a sudden. IE: a ton of people said they "didn't care/watch" the mlb playoffs/world series this year. Not sure I said that anywhere, but that is me. If the Sox are out...I'm done. If something big happens, I'll see the highlights. As for football, I don't care about the Superbowl anymore, but I will still watch it for the entertainment value. I don't get as much entertainment value out of baseball without the Sox in it.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) Hardy Nickerson FWIW. He wasn't really chopped liver. I think Quarles succeeded him. Correct, I knew who it was and you're right he wasn't chopped liver. Point was the key theme in stopping the run from a Tampa 2 is directing traffic to the WILL. Hence Brooks' numbers below for Dungy's years in TB. It's amazing what Url has been able to do and how many plays he gets in on that are nowhere near him. 2001 - Brooks 80 Duncan 64 2000 - Brooks 125 Duncan 48 1999 - Brooks 118 Nickerson 65 1998 - Brooks 123 Nickerson 45(only played 10 games) Duncan 30 (6 games) 1997 - Nickerson 105 Brooks 102 1996 - Brooks 92 Nickerson 76 Probably won't be doing much football talk for a while, so I'm just getting everything out. Check this out for how dedicated this dude was to his craft. Not sure what his training is like now, but this was what he was doing in 05 a year before he was voted "overrated" Would love to see the other MIKE's offseason work out regimens.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Then make an argument to the contrary. Look at any game Briggs was out and our defense failed to stop the run. He's absolutely instrumental in our run defense. When he's not out there, Urlacher is running around getting beat all over the field. I concede that maybe they are both equally important, but considering the press Urlacher gets, it's my opinion that he is overrated. He was even voted as most as one of the most overrated players in the league, by the players, several years ago. This defense is geared towards Briggs making the tackle. You remember Tampa with this defense?? Briggs plays Brooks' spot....the WILL. He should be leading this team in tackles every year. Any idea off the top of your head who the MIKE was in Tampa?? Doubtful, because the MIKE is not the star in this scheme. Yet Urlacher who has to drop back in coverage and run all over the field still leads the team in tackles. The Defense is garbage when he isn't there. The only time he hasn't played at a probowl level was when he was playing hurt. I like Briggs...he's a solid player, but Urlacher is the MVP of this defense and easily one of the greatest LB's to ever play the game. That stupid f***in poll. Other players who were labeled as overrated in the poll included Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, Eli Manning, Terrell Owens and Ray Lewis.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Really? That defense works because of Briggs. Wow, it's like you enjoy being wrong about the Bears today.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) Yep. This guy has waited for this moment his entire life. He has lived and dreamed for this moment. He has had 5 pro seasons of bone crushing hits. He has had I think, 5 concussions, the last of which he continued to play anyway. He has never quit or taken himself out of any game in his life that we know of. But now in a game that can change his life. A game that every football player wants to be in. A historical game that is so big it will erase all his previous games..he decides to quit?? It isn't fathomable. This is what every player strives for and now that he's here you think he just decided to say aw f*** it...having a bad day, I'll sit. He didn't say aw f*** it in any meaningless game in the last 5 years, but now he decides to?? The arrogant QB who thinks he can come back from anything. The one who says...I'll show you I can fit that ball there. The one that doesn't need to worry about mechanics. He quit?? It's just ludicrous. It's not that I'm just disagreeing with quitter/not tough crowd, I just can't make any sense of it whatsoever.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) Well, I've been saying it for the last two hours, but I'll say it again. I think he was injured. I think he was also moping and sulking. I think his poor attitude colored his decision on how injured he was and whether or not he could continue. Had the game been going more favorably, I think he would have done more to try and stay in the game. So you are saying he quit?
  9. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) You are really going to use a what if scenario? ok, what if he played the 2nd half, led them to a win and then won the SB and was the MVP? What if then? Please tell me why you think he was out of the game.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) No. But what was the risk of further injury? I would need to know that first. Please tell me why you think he was out of the game.
  11. If Cutler didn't come out because he was really injured, why did he come out? Is it because you think he quit? He didn't feel like playing anymore? He's a pu$$y? What? If you're on the opposite side of the those saying "stop questioning his toughness", then explain why.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) Thanks, I probably have a better insight of medical stuff on this board (besides ptatc). To say the MCL is completely torn is wrong. I'd love to know what B&B have to say about this now. They are defending Cutler and bashing the Bears PR for allowing Lovie to use the word Sprain instead of partial tear.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) All last night, we heard from Cutler supporters that how was he supposed to keep playing if his ligament was torn in half. If it's true it's just a sprain, then he's opened himself up to be criticized again. For the majority of this morning, the Chicago media was VERY supportive of him since they thought the MCL was torn. Does anyone know if Lovie said it's a strain based off the MRI? I know sometimes they'll say it's a sprain prior to conclusive MRI results (ie: Peavy's injury). A sprain is a tear, is it not?
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Urlacher is such a tool. I wish Bas Ruttan kicked his ass when he had the chance. huh? Why is he a tool exactly? For defending his QB? A lot of s*** for Bears fans to b**** about this morning...It seems weird for you to pick Urlacher defending Cutler and the Bears being like the Cubs, but to each his own.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Exactly. The way he describes it, OSU-Michigan football isn't a rivalry right now cause OSU has been dominating & Michigan hasn't been competing for any titles. You can say that the Bears/Packers rivalry hasnt been relevant recently, but not that it doesnt exist. EDIT: He's missing the fact that rivalries endure. Once Manning/Belichek are gone, no one is gonna give a s*** about Colts/Patriots. 30 years from now, Bears/Packers will still be heated. QFT On a side note...Bears 27 - Cheeseballs 17
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 07:15 AM) They were for the most part caused by the O-line getting embarrassed by Peppers. I actually think this can be a huge factor. The league doesn't want the game constantly interrupted by penalties. If I'm Green Bay, hell yeah I'm holding Peppers, it's better than the alternative and the fact is, the refs just won't call it everytime. It's worth the risk and you just hope the ref doesn't decide to make the call when you score.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 04:21 PM) We had an audio baby monitor, thought about the video, but my wife got spooked by the stories out there of the signal being unencrypted and available to anyone nearby to pick up. Probably nothing worth worrying about though. Yeah I received that big warning from my dad...I said thanks and then told him to get lost. I'm so glad we had it. It was comforting as new parents to be able to see she was ok. It also stopped us from going and checking on her a lot. Lastly, they do some hilarious s***.
  18. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) The same crew of refs that flagged the Packers 18 times in the Monday night game against the Bears earlier this year will be back in Soldier Field on Sunday. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=6041850 Actually it's just the same ref. The crew is different for the playoffs....supposedly the best of the best.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) LOL That was a random google image search. Thought maybe you were reading him/her my posts from the buster.
  20. Baby monitor. I would go with the video one, especially if this is your first kid. A mirror for the car. It attaches to the headrest facing the baby, so when you look out your rearview mirror you can see the baby in theirs. Also, why is your baby giving us the finger?
  21. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) I don't doubt he's a Sox fan, if he wasn't, wouldn't it make more sense for him to say he's a Cubs fan, it's not like their isn't any Cubs fans in the South Side. I don't doubt he chose the Sox as his team to root for. I just doubt that he is truly a fan. Not saying it's a big deal...just my opinion.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) It is definitely a Bridgeport-ish thing. I have heard it myself, long before Barack. The other acceptable deviation is "Sox Park". Not so sure about that. My parents and my entire extended family was brought up right across from the park, in Bridgeport. We moved when I was young, but I never heard anyone from there call it Cominskey Park, let alone Cominskey Field. I have heard Cominskey Park used, but from what I've experienced and been told, it's a Polish thing because of the large Polish population in Chicago. Either way Cominskey Field is not something any "Sox fan" would say. But anywhoo.
  23. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) I recommend grabbing the podcast of today's episode and just listen to that portion of it, it was pretty heated Thanks! I loved it. I absolutely despise B&B. If this was a caller, instead of Abbatacola they would have cut him off and then ripped on him and finished their argument. I have no idea how those guys have this show. Dan usually just belittles his callers and Boers is just like his puppet repeating his lines. The only time I hear those idiots is when I get back in my car in the evening and the radio is still on 670 from Mully and Hanley in the morning. Then after about 5 minutes Bernstein says something arrogant and yells at a caller and I realize I'm listening to those morons and change the station.
