  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) Green = sarcasm But if you're really good it's not needed.
  2. Treat posters how you want to be treated, unless you're some sadistic twisted ignorant asshole, in which case you can just leave!! We don't like your kind round here.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Hey, to be honest, it might make some of these game threads better compared to what they are at times. I know I pretty much stayed outta here at the end of last season.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) He's done nothing wrong, so leave him be. This place is for Sox fans, but we always welcome other teams fans as long as they are amicable. He's been nothing but class. I can see him coming on here and debating topics and such. I'm down with that. I think it makes the board great. However, cheering against the Sox in the game thread is a whole different story. JMO.
  5. QUOTE(GoTribe @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) YES! Belliard GREAT PLAY!!!!!! Thank God! To the 9th we go!!! GO TRIBE GO HOME!!
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Boone should not be in late in a game with a 1 run game going. I would rather have thorton and his 94 mph fastball going against Hafner in that situation. Its my focking team and I put in who I want!!!!!!
  7. QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) nice job jose, how was the out recorded,,,i'm using my widget you have a sox widget?
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) Guillen needs to shut the f*** up and remember what it was like to be a player. Tadahito has every reason to be a tad frustrated by them putting in Cintron yesterday. I don't think he was being particularly confrontational, and Guillen should've been a little less tightly wound. Iguchi is his "most valuable player," after all. Exactly. I mean every player wants to play every day. After a pretty horrible spring....Gooch had a decent first game and probably just wanted to keep it rolling. So when asked he said "no comment". Why can't Guillen just say... Im glad my players to want to play every day...but I did it for...blah blah blah... reason or whatever. No need to snap like he did. Nobody was questioning his authority....
  9. Why does the media make do this. So Iguchi said "no comment", so fricken what. They have to run back to Ozzie and say "Hey Iguchi said no comment", then Ozzie snaps and makes his comment "I'm in charge...go home" and so on and so on. Both of Iguchi's comments may have been non confrontational. I wasn't there so I don't know exactly how he said them...but they seem to be just answers to a reporters questions. Saying "no comment" isn't a big deal. I don't mind Ozzie's in your face attitude, but I think it would be best if he can refrain from jumping on his players when he's getting the information from the media. Guillen gets a tad upset with Iguchi April 5, 2006 BY JOE COWLEY Staff Reporter Advertisement White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen did his best to make sure his initial conversation with second baseman Tadahito Iguchi did not get lost in translation. But when he heard that Iguchi had snapped off a "no comment'' to the media about not being in the starting lineup Tuesday, Guillen was adamant that the second-year major-leaguer from Japan was in full understanding -- language barrier or not -- about who the boss was. "When you make the lineup, whoever likes it or whoever doesn't, too bad,'' Guillen said. "If he doesn't like it, go home.'' Iguchi arrived at the ballpark to find out he was benched with right-hander Jake Westbrook starting for the Cleveland Indians. Iguchi was 2-for-16 (.125) against Westbrook last season, so Guillen opted to go with switch hitter Alex Cintron to give him a left-handed look. Guillen said he explained that to Iguchi through his translator and thought the topic was over. But when asked about it after batting practice, Iguchi said, "No comment.'' Sitting out games became a touchy subject with Iguchi late last season, when he felt Guillen's cautious approach with his playing time wasn't as necessary as it was earlier in the year. When asked Tuesday if he was concerned with Guillen taking a similar approach this year, the usually soft-spoken Iguchi declared, "I didn't come back here to rest.'' That response didn't sit well with Guillen, either, especially because he felt Iguchi had understood where he was coming from in their morning talk. "The thing I really said was if he has any questions, come ask me,'' Guillen said. "I told him about my situation. I make the lineup. If he likes it, he likes it. If he doesn't, big deal. I already explained to him why he's not playing. I explained to him that Westbrook is throwing the ball real well, and I think we have a better chance if we go with a lefty hitter. "He's going to play when I tell him he's playing. Every time I put my lineup in, I put the lineup in that I feel gives us the best chance. I always think about my team before I think about the players. I talked to him, made sure he knew he's not in a backup situation. It's about that ballclub we're playing over there. He's going to rest, and then he'll be back in there.'' Guillen also sat starting center fielder Brian Anderson for left-handed hitter Rob Mackowiak. The Sox are scheduled to face left-handed pitchers in their next two games, so he didn't want Cintron and Mackowiak getting too much rest. "If [Cintron and Mackowiak] don't play, then they would have to wait six or seven days to play,'' Guillen said. "That's not fair for them to sit that long and not get any action. "Is [iguchi] an every-day player? Yes, he's an every-day player, but he plays when I say he plays.''
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) I was at the first 2 games this year and was thinking it would be cool to be able to identify a SoxTalker in the crowd. Maybe a patch or cap or something. Anyone else think that would be a cool idea? EDIT: I know it's easy for everyone to identify me since I'm the best looking guy on Soxtalk but it's a little difficult to identify other posters. We'd spot you easily with that mask you have on in your avatar...just keep wearing that.
  11. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) Dang Cubs fans not respecting our flag....(bottom right) But its in green, so it's kinda like..."Yeah right, I'm a cub fan"
  12. American flag comes in second here... Another interesting tidbit. Michelle Marquez, an eigth-grade student at Lamar Middle School in Irving, was taunted for having a U.S. flag during an immigration protest at Kiest Park in Dallas. “My heart is with the Mexican flag and Mexico but I’m standing on American ground and I’m Mexican-American,” she said.
  13. I liked the rings. I would have preferred platinum, but that will do.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 31, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Wow Chaos, I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. Prayers and condolences to you and your family. Thanks Yas!! Sox World Series Titles were sort of book ends for his life. He was born in April 1917. So his very first Sox season brought a World Series title and the last season of his life brought another one.
  15. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Sunday night for me too!! While I'm never in the same seat this is my 18th Opener in a row. I spoke a little too soon. My gramps, a lifelong sox fan who owned Jimbos before it was Jimbos, passed away last night in his sleep. It was peaceful and not in a hospital, as he had wished. The wake is Sunday night, so I'll be missing my first opening day in 17 years. Bring me home a winner everyone!!! God bless ya pops!!
  16. Studies show that if a cat falls off the seventh floor of a building it has about thirty percent less chance of surviving than a cat that falls off the twentieth floor. It supposedly takes about eight floors for the cat to realize what is occurring, relax and correct itself. What kind of sick demented person did that study??
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) It's not SLaP anymore though, it's SLaM. Sheesh, get with the times man. DOH!!! Old habits die hard....feel free to fix admins.

    Ice Cream

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) It tastes fake to me. The strawberries (which is the only kind I have tried from there) were hard and plastic in texture, and Jim said the chocolate chunks tasted stale. Oh man you can't beat Candy Land for my money!! I love the cake batter ice cream!!
  22. QUOTE(Fingish @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 09:18 AM) Sunday Night! Sec. 127 Row 9, where I've been for every opening day(night) since 1987(it was row 3in the old park...)! (My Uncle, who will be with me, has me beat, he's been to every opening day since 1965!!) This will be the best of them all though! Sunday night for me too!! While I'm never in the same seat this is my 18th Opener in a row.
  23. This reminds me of a comedian I once heard... I can't stand my friends who smoke...I meet them for dinner and first thing they do is light up So how was your day?? Well ya know I have a habit of spitting, so I'm like Pretty good how about yours???
  24. Yeah to me the whole title of the article is wrong. She wasn't ticketed because of an anti-Bush sticker she was ticketed cause it said _ _s***.
