  1. Mark me down for Sunday's festivities...if there are any.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) I'm not one to defend ESPN.. but this was planned at the start of the season when no one knew the Sox would be this good. I'm not shocked they planned on being at Wrigley.. they do something there every year. Ahhhh I didn't know that. Yeah I would NEVER expect them to pick the sox over the cubs at the start of the season. I thought this was just set up recently.... Can I still hate them???
  3. QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) :puke I dont want Berman's closeness near me anyway!!
  4. Just read a blurb in the paper about some 50 cities in 50 days thing that ESPN is doing. Guess who's ballpark they will be at when they come to Chicago? Best team in baseball right???....WRONG. They set it up so they come here August 22. The sox off day and so they will be broadcating from Urine Field. This has got to be the biggest slap in the face. I normally don't get in to the media bias junk so much,(at least not with sports) but this is a f***in crock!! 'SportsCenter' will go 50-50 June 22, 2005 BY ELLIOTT HARRIS SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST Are we there yet? ESPN is going on one long road trip this summer when it takes "SportsCenter'' on a cross-country tour. Billed as "'SportsCenter' Across America,'' the show will be broadcast from 50 states in 50 days starting July 17, when the 10 p.m. edition will originate from Fenway Park after the Yankees-Red Sox game. The show will stop at a sporting event in a different state each day until the final one is broadcast Sept. 4. The segments will include reports on each state's contribution to the national sports scene, as well as other features. "This gives us the chance to get a little closer to our fans, and it's a small way to say thanks because ESPN would not be what it is today without support from all 50 states,'' said Chris Berman, one of the hosts. "So, just like the U.S. Senate, every state is represented equally on this tour.'' The tour will stop in Chicago on Aug. 22 for a Cubs game against the Atlanta Braves, which probably will send a few White Sox fans looking for their barf bags.
  5. Not to tarnish this Nancy thread, but I didn't want to start another one for this post.... This Wednesday is also WIN-A-JERSEY WEDNESDAY Probably have a better chance at a game with 5-10,000 than 10,000-25,000... Good Luck!!
  6. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) High School: The good ole famous Orange and Maroon. Ditto here... Brother Rice!!!!!!
  7. Coldwell Banker helps Sox fans improve their real estate CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage have created an opportunity for Sox fans to "improve their real estate" during each home game, when two randomly-selected fans are moved from their upper level seats down to the new United Scout Seat area directly behind home plate. In addition to the upgraded United Scout Seats, each game's winners are treated to unlimited food and beverages served in-seat by Levy staff throughout the game and free White Sox t-shirts. The winners also are featured on the center field video screen during the top of the second inning. "We want each and every White Sox fan to truly enjoy their experience at the ballpark. We're excited that Coldwell Banker will be able to help us make a day at the ballpark even more special for a couple of fans each game," said Brooks Boyer, White Sox vice president of marketing. "It's an unexpected surprise for two fans, who are expecting a traditional game experience, to be whisked downstairs into the best seats in the house." "As Chicagoland's number one home seller, we know the importance of a great location. Whether it is in real estate or at the ballpark, location is everything. We are proud to be a part of Chicago baseball and to provide this unique opportunity to two lucky White Sox fans," said Doug Ayers, President and COO of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. The one-year sponsorship agreement with Coldwell Banker also includes in-park advertising and matrix board and public address mentions throughout the game. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage (coldwellbankeronline.com) is the number one real estate services firm in the Chicagoland, Northwest Indiana, Southeast Wisconsin and Southwest Michigan areas with 67 offices and over 4,700 sales associates. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is a member of the NRT family of companies. NRT Incorporated, the nation's leading residential real estate brokerage company, is a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD).
  8. Anyone up for a tailgate this game???
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) I would be willing to bet that the Cubs season ticket base is double the Sox. No hard evidence, just a hunch. I would to...if not just for the fact that the north crowd has a lot more diposable income than the south. I'm just also curious on how many businesses have season tix with the cubs vs the sox.
  10. How many season tickets to the cubs our held by businesses and distributed to clients, employees, whoever?? I'm willing to bet that's a big difference in season tickets holders between sox and cubs. Businesses have clients that want to see Wrigley? Is there any data on that or any way to find out?? Tickets held by fans vs tickets held by companies?? It's a write off for a business isn't it??
  11. Moronotti is a typical chicken s*** columnist. He'll make the prediction now that we'll make the playoffs?? Now that we can go .500 here on out and still make it?? That's not even a prediction it's almost a fact. So thanks for pointing out the obvious there Jay..you're a real risk taker. I think it would be actually painful for him to just write an article that is 100% positive. There's something inside him that just says ...let me be a dick just a little bit. Let me bring up Everett, Buehrle, Guillen, Reinsdorf, which I already wrote about, but need something s***ty to say here. Let me say they need a starter, reliever, and a bat so later, if they lose in the playoffs, I can say..."I said they needed to get blank " How about having some f***in accountability instead of just saying...they'll make the playoffs. Anybody can say that now. So it means nothing. How about the sox will win the ALCS or the world series? How about the sox won't make the playoffs. or they wont win the ALCS? How about something, anything, to get you from talking s*** from the middle of the fence and jump down to one side of it. We don't care if it's not OUR side..in fact we'd probably like it better that way...just pick one.
  12. I did read something that said there will be another one and the Joker will be played by Mark Hamill, Crispin Glover or one other person. I don't remember where I saw it...I just know Mark Hamill as the Joker stuck in my head.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Joe Randa is not a .260-.270 hitter he's a .285-.295 hitter. Check his career stats. Randa the once sox killer now the sox thriller??? Well I don't know about this move...even if it is possible. Is it worth risking the chemisty of the team for what may only be a slightly better hitter?? I say no.
  14. Saturday was just an AWESOME game to be at. There was no give in the team and there was no give in the fans. I didn't see anyone walking out in the 9th. I was there with 8 friends and I must have high fived 50 strangers. Everybody was just goin nuts when we tied it and the thing really blew up when we won. One of the best games I been to.
  15. that's exactly what I said last night. It was so weird...normally umps to change anything when a manager yells. If anythign they get bigger just to show who's boss. That ump yesterday changed his zone as soon as Ozzie said something to him. It was strange..kinda like...oh ok you caught me...I'll call it fair now. What gives Blue??
  16. QUOTE(bigredrudy @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) The dimensions of the playing field at the Cell are ludicrous. KW considered moving the fences back at the Cell and he should have. This is not baseball we are watching but softball at a church picnic. As originally constituted the dimensions were OK but have you seen all the homeruns dropping in the bullpens. Tony Clark and Shawn Green did not even hit the balls squarely. It was OK when it was cold but now forget about it. I do not enjoy watching games where they are decided by lazy pop flies-17 homeruns by the DBacks. Come on! They're fine with me.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Crede and Konerko didn't help him either, except on offense of course. That's a stat that doesn't show up in the books. Jon got in trouble and made some pitches to get out of trouble and Crede and Konerko made some mistakes. I'm not knocking them...those things happen in the course of the season...but those bounces went Jon's way earlier. Every pitcher that wins a lot of games has solid defense behind him that sometimes saves him.
  18. I've never done it...but maybe when I have kids. I think sleepover night is awesome. What could be better as a little kid then sleeping on the field of your favorite team. Kids dream about s*** like that and the sox give it to them.
  19. Hideaway you just always find a way to get in an argument. Even with a complimentary post about Garland....go figure With that said...I agree with your statement about Garland. I think he can easily be a 15 yr, 200 inning pitcher year in and year out. I just hope he is with the sox.
  20. screw chavez lets really go for it... How about a three team deal with The Marlins and The Yankees. We get D-Train and A-Rod. The Yanks get Crede, El Duque and a pizza made the right way and the Marlins get B-Mac and Marte and a pound of Tony's Italain Beef. Come on Kenny...make it happen...you suck if you dont.
  21. Well thanks to el Duque we now have 7 losses with our regular starting lineup. Still a pretty good percentage.
