  1. I agree, in the playoffs the pitching staff needs to hold the opponent to 3 runs or less most games. If they allow 4 or more in a game there is a pretty good chance they are going to lose.
  2. My comment was in reply to the offense stinking, and when facing really good pitching a lot of times the offense is going to stink. I am not suggesting you can win playoff games with no hitting. However it is very possible to win playoff games with a score(3-1) like Sunday vs the Brewers. I wouldn't characterize that as an offensive explosion. As you mentioned most or all playoff teams are going to have good pitching so if the expectation is that we will put up 6 or 7 runs a game then in most instances your going to be disappointed.
  3. Thankfully Detroit has a new stadium otherwise our next trip there Eloy would try to duplicate that catch.
  4. Burr and/or Ruiz I wouldn't mind, but I would like to give it a little more time for Burdi.
  5. Guess I am confused why Sheets would be any better than Goodwin? I am not saying I really favor one over the other but Sheets is hitting .185 for the month of July. His slugging is slightly better than Goodwin for July so his OPS is .737 and Goodwin's is .723. Not that I really like Goodwin in center field, but in a pinch he can play there so he does give you a little more versatility from a defensive standpoint. Like Burger I think it might be beneficial for Sheets to get consistent ABs in Charlotte. That said, if they keep Sheets when Robert comes back I would be ok with that too lol.
  6. ok that explains it, I wouldn't want either one of them instead of Anderson. I expect to read a lot of crazy things on here especially after a loss, but didn't think I would see complaints about TA.
  7. I hate to even ask because I feel like it gives any credibility to the post, but who are the 3 all stars? I know one of them would be Tatis, but who are the other two?
  8. The point is that there is way too much overreaction if they play poorly for a week or two. EVERY team has stretches when things aren't going well. You come back tomorrow and keep playing....
  9. This board never disappoints if your looking for a good laugh. I think they should pack everything up and call it a season lol!
  10. No kidding, Vaughn is fine in left field. The majority of the time Vaughn should be in left and Eloy should DH.
  11. How can anyone who watches baseball on a regular basis not understand this? It seems some on this board don't want to believe that other MLB teams actually have some talented pitchers/players. Even with all our players back we most likely aren't going to light up Burnes & Woodruff and with the injuries we have it makes it more unlikely.
  12. yeah, and they suggested Vaughn be taken out...that's a smart move, take arguably your best hitter right now out. I notice there were no comments from them when Vaughn hit a laser the next inning.
  13. Same approach I take. Even if your team is the "favorite" it is very difficult to make it to the championship series. Win the division consistently and see what happens in the playoffs. There is a good chance if you go consistently that one of the years you will break through and win it. There is no reason to believe that this year couldn't be the year.
  14. Hahn isn't trading Vaughn for a relief pitcher...I doubt he would part with Sheets either. If that's what it takes to get a quality relief pitcher then the best move is to not make one.
  15. Yeah I am not sure that really tells the entire story. So if Houston, Boston, etc... have considerably better records against teams above .500 yet have a similar overall record as the White Sox wouldn't that indicate their record against teams under .500 is subpar? Isn't that an issue to be concerned with? Does playing mediocre against non-playoff teams somehow correlate to playoff success?
  16. It is unlikely he gets suspended and if he does so the hell what. They can just treat it as an off day, it isn't like he was going to play in all the remaining games.
  17. Exactly, Kopech isn't coming into a regular season game that we are trailing when the offense isn't showing any signs of life, and he shouldn't.
  18. LOL, whenever the bullpen sucks it is inevitable that someone will ask why Kopech wasn't in.
  19. I am surprised they haven't released him. You would think Jerry, Rick & Tony wouldn't put up with this stuff, you know how triggered old folks get when a younger person does literally anything.
  20. Yes, and Benetti gave the TV audience a lecture about it.
  21. That's why I said he should be. I realize he won't and we will most likely lose any playoff game in which Cease or Kuechel starts.
  22. Yes, I prefer to have the guy who has a better chance of getting hitters out to pitch more innings. Cease and/or Kuechel have proven they might be able to get hitters out for an inning or two, more than that not so much.
