Just perusing the overall stats (and not WAR), I think it’s pretty clear that in 2020 we have the best 1B in MLB, the best SS and LF in the AL, and the second best CF in the AL, only because of some freak named after a fish.

I knew Matt Harvey pretty much collapsed, but when the heck did it get this bad? 16 hits in 7 IP for the Royals? I remember seeing him on some late night thing a few years back, where he'd walk around Manhattan and ask goofy questions to people and then introduce himself and shock people who knew the name but not the face. Well, right back to obscurity he went. Quickly and brutally.

I will watch “The Catch” on YouTube every few months for the rest of my life. Hearing “ALEXEIIIIIIII!” still excites the Sox fan in me. Can you honestly say that about any moment in the game last week? I don’t even remember the call on the final out.

No, but it’s definitely one of the less impressive no-nos we’ve seen. It wasn’t even that impressive watching it at the time. There were plenty of people in the GT talking about how the Pirates had quit the season. I was in person a few years ago when Ubaldo no-hit the Braves and it was thrilling. And it wasn’t just being there in person- MB’s games were amazing on TV and I still remember the whole family crowding around the TV when Moose almost perfected the Red Sox only to have Carl Everett wreck it. That game last week didn’t have that. It was boring. After the 7th or so, it just felt like a formality. The Pirates didn’t have any hope.

Can we just accept that Lucas’ no-hitter was an absolute cheap shot? The Pirates are a AAA team. The Twins can actually hit.

Seriously, between AAPL stock split going into effect tomorrow and having to monitor my 10/16 calls on that, and this, and my actual job, tomorrow’s going to be a nutty day.
