You don't need to pray for Iowa to lose to the two worst teams in the Big Ten on the road. That is an annual occurrence. The question is, who rushes the floor faster, Purdue or Northwestern? -

Young had a day where he had 5 extra base hits, including 3 HRs and a couple stolen bases, in a DH. -

Yeah give GW some props for their top 250 schedule (240). They have zero wins against the RPI top 25. Sounds like a top team to me. -
Who will win the last outfielder spot?
Gene Honda Civic replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Borchard will win it as long as he finishes spring training in one piece. He out of options, so he's going to be on the roster, or gone. 9 times out of 10 that means you make the roster. (right Timo?) Ozzie and Kenny won't hesitate to call on Owens mid-season, or even earlier, if Borch is teh suck -
I'm sure LCR will come through with this one, but the short answer is: Multiple death row inmates were found to be wrongly convicted. The whole system was put on indefinite hold until the a better system could be found. (which essentially means no more death penalty)

I think Keith, SnB, and Tony will agree. If I were ever to wear 6 inch platforms, and wear a #55 McCarthy jersey to the park, I wouldn't need a ticket to get into USCF. But I might end up on the mound that night.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) On a side note, let's keep this on track with the death penalty so we can help out Tom....Sorry I went on a bit of a tangent. I am for the death penalty for over zealous mods and admins.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) I think its also pretty messed up that you're comparing us to the Hussein regime when they tortured and killed people for no reason other than to satisfy their own sadistic urges. Oh there was a reason. It was because they were KURDS!

I'm against enforcing the death penalty, but I like having it as an option. I think it should only be used in extreme cases (Gacy, McVeigh, Dahmer, etc.)

Crede to bat 9th if Anderson wins CF job

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) This is not the 1st time we've heard Ozzie say he's not a fan of Munoz, why is he still around? He throws the ball with his left hand. That's the Major League equivalent of having comprimising pictures of your boss with his 22 year old secretary. Job.Security. -

The Birdman is suspended from the NBA
Gene Honda Civic replied to Kyyle23's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This is really sad. Getting kicked out of the NBA for drug use is hard. It'd be like getting kicked out of the Wu Tang Clan for drug use. -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) Other than that, the q and a's where pretty much thank you's and softball questions, which is very understandable. I don't know. We were able to come up with 21 that more hard-hitting, while not being critical.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Obviously the smaple size means nothing. But when you are an incredible prospect destined for success, usually you come up and at least do SOMETHING in 50+ Abs. http://www.baseball-reference.com/v/venturo01.shtml One of the best college hitters of all-time. Top 10 prospect in all of baseball. Oh and he went something like 0-40 to start his career.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) Possibly better for the future. You figure he'll be better than his 60 ABs last year. I mean, it's pretty tough to go lower than a .438 OPS. That's close to a Jim Thome OBP. Anyway. I love this deal. THank you Cleveland. ANd thank you Mark Shipiro for throwing Coco under the bus on his way out. LOL. You don't see many GMs saying how awful their player is in a certain aspect of the game on the way out. Possibly better for '06 too. You're completely underestimating Andy Marte. I laughed at him being called the top prospect in baseball, but there's no denying he's in the top 10 or so. He's easily better than Brian Anderson who will be our starting CFer, while Marte will be to the Indians what McCarthy is for us. That's to say, a player who is worked in over the course of the season to help fill the inevitable holes that spring up at some point during the season. If McCarthy is the best 6th starter in the league, Marte is the best 10th bat/fielder.

Scot Gregor's Q & A with Kenny Williams
Gene Honda Civic replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) I interpret that as meaning Frank could have stayed if he gave up the $3.5 million option guarateed by his existing contract. Isn't that equivelent to asking him to pay for the privelege of staying on the team? There was a multiple year guaranteed contract presented. Frank didn't want to listen and activated his $10M option. The 3.5M option was only guaranteed if Frank first activated his player option for $10M. He could have declined that, with a deal worked out in principle to replace the existing one. Your beef is with Frank Thomas. He didn't want to stay here. Not if it meant having the indignity of taking a pay cut. No. Frank prefers playing the martyr. "He wasn't loved in Chicago. They didn't treat him with the re$pect he de$erved." Cry me a f***ing river. You can keep defending him, but please acknowledge that he only cared about the money, and the perceived power that it brought him. -
Scot Gregor's Q & A with Kenny Williams

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) The 3.5 is paid regardless. The decision is on .5 million guaranteed, after excersing the 3.5 option which applies in either case. Look, Frank wouldn't take a pay cut to play for the Sox, and that is a fact. KW discussed options to have him finish his career with the White Sox, but Frank wasn't willing to listen to anything that would have cost him his guaranteed $$. (Per KW via BRUUUUCE on ESPN 1000 today) There is no way Frank would have ever signed with the Sox for the deal he took with Oakland. Even if he did, he would remind us of it every chance he got. -
