  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) WELCOME BACK MARK BUEHRLE!! This is a AAA offense, remember.
  2. What a sorry excuse for a franchise.
  3. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) What are the odds of Kansas City winning this game with a one run lead in the 9th? Maybe 2 to 1?
  4. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) 3 outs to a KC victory - somebody pinch me. They're looking to add some insurance too... 2nd & 2rd, no outs.
  5. We found out if Mark was a big game pitcher his last time out. /playing along
  6. QUOTE(Fotop @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Carr is pretty damn bad. I think he (and Michigan) are in some pretty hot water. They still have games left w/Michigan State, Ohio St., Iowa, and Minnesota. It's obvious that OSU is pretty much the class of the Big Ten, but outside of that it's pretty much anyone's guess. Yeah that's a tough stretch. -- They could lose 3 of those. I can't see them dropping all 4 of them. Of course, Hart could come back like Rex said, and they could win three of those games too. -- I can't see them running the table against those teams, even with Hart.
  7. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) And how many of those hits came when the Sox were up by 7 runs? His RBI were usually in meaningless situations. In tight games down a run or two, he rarely came thru, from my memory. If you dig up stats that say otherwise, I will recant. But I know I have screamed many times at Maggs striking out with runners on when down a run or two. His homeruns always seemed to remind me of Sam-me Soso's, almost meaningless because they happen when you are up 7 or down 7. 2002-2004 Close and Late stats (down by a run or tied in the 7th or later) Maggs -- .335/.422/.527 -- K'd 12.5% of the time Sammy -- .231/.325/.471 -- K'd 28% of the time
  8. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) Too bad we didn't sign Emil Brown. He's from Chicago, makes less than 1/10 of Dye's salary, and has actually been better than Dye this year. Even KC fans were pissed he made the team. -- Simply put, nobody could have seen his season coming. He's Ross Gload though. Zero pitchers fear him. The chances of him putting together a repeat .800 OPS season are slim and none.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Before the season began, I remember Gene Honda Civic predicted that Dye could go .280/30HR/100RBI's due to the Cell Factor. also...

  11. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Havn't heard anybody talk about this Yep, this is a brand new idea.
  12. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Maggs was anything but clutch. Sure, he got his hits and rbi, but I have seen way too many strikeouts or weak-ass grounders with runners on in crutial situations for my liking. Kinda like Paulie this year. If that slowpoke could hit at all with runners on, he SHOULD have about 150 rbi this year. Dye is OK, a healthy Maggs would be slightly better, but with Maggs, you don't have other people on the team. Glad he is gone. I sorta miss Lee, but I think Pods will help us once we get to the playoffs, more than Lee would. First of all, Maggs is a career .323/.403/.543 with men in scoring positon. If that's not clutch I don't know what is. As for the K's he had 122 in almost 900 ABs w/ RISP. You don't get any better than that from an RBI guy. As for Konerko SHOULD having 150 RBI's. -- NO -- Miguel Tejada had 150 RBIs last year. He had 80 More at-bats with runners in scoring position, and over 100 more at-bats with runners on, than Konerko has this season. But yeah, he should have 150 RBI :rolly
  13. 2B - Iguchi DH - Gload -- If for nothing else than to get Everett out of the line-up, especially after his comments. 3B - Crede 1B - Konerko RF - Dye C - Pierz CF - Arow SS - Uribe LF - Anderson/Pods
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) I get the ND game and the Oregon game. I get royally f***ed and miss my Hawkeye game which was supposed to be on at 9 AM. Instead some dumb cartoon was on. You didn't miss anything... Iowa is teh suck. No O or D-line = Total Domination. -- I guess they had to pay for that beatdown they handed OSU last year.
  15. Since the calender changed to August, the Sox have a record of 9-1 in games started by Contreras and 15-25 in game started by anyone else. There's your "ace" folks.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) What time is the Iowa game on on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it. I just know I'm gonna get royally f***ed though and they'll be showing some local broadcast out here instead of the Iowa-OSU game. Come on Hawekeyes...it would be a huge huge win if you can beat OSU on the road. 9 AM your time.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Type in ''failure'' on google... then hit '' i'm feeling lucky''. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb
  18. The opening weekend this season he made me mute a game. He was giving sound effects for hits '97 Madden-style. BOOM! Everything that came out of his mouth sounded like it had been test marketed for it's appeal among 13-year old video game fans.
  19. Jeff Brantley on ESPN... :headshake Does anyone in Bristol bother to watch any games besides the Yankees and Sawks. Count has a career ERA under 3 against the following teams. CLE KC MIN (that's pretty much the entire division) NYY TB and he has a 3.88 career ERA against the Tigers. Suck it Brantley!
  20. QUOTE(winodj @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) The White Sox have 92 wins. Five more wins guarantees them at least a one game playoff. Boston would need to go 8-1 in their remaining 9 to get to 97 NY would need to go 7-2 in their remaining 9 to get to 97 That would mean they both win their remaining 6 against the BJs and O's, and Boston would have to win the last series. Any loss in their non-head-to-head games drastically increases our playoff chances.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) I'm pretty sure that's inaccurate. It's not inaccurate, but it doesn't work like regular magic number. 5 wins will guarantee us the playoffs.
