  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) So where exactly did those 277 ABs come from? HMmmmm? HE STARTED THE GAME!
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) As long as that one AB comes in an important situation with RISP, I'm fine with it for a bench player. If he was making 6 mil a year itd be a different story. I'd much rather him go 0-3 with nobody on in his first 3 ABs, and then come on and get a base hit with men on 2nd and 3rd in the 8th inning. ANd if you disagree about that, then I don't even see why we are arguing about it. Here's some simplified game theory for you.... There are 27 outs in a baseball game. Timo Makes lots of outs. He is the sux. The only time he doesn't make lots of outs is with runners in scoring position, which only account for less than 25% of his total plate appearences. ANY benefit gained by him being marginally above average in RISP situations is negated by him being below average in every other situation. The second most important situation (leading off and inning) Timo is so historically bad it's pitiful. You argue that he is a good pinch hitter, I showed you his woeful pinch hitting stats. He's not a good pinch hitter, which you argue is his role on the team. In order for TIMO to get RISP abs, without being in a pinch hit situation, he would have to start the game. -- Any time TIMO starts a game he is hurting the team. He is Bad. But he speaks Japanese, so he can read this. Timo のあなたは吸う!
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) So what do you have to say about those three year splits with the most important situations in baseball? THEY ARE SO MARGINALLY MORE IMPORTANT THAN OTHER SITUATIONS THAT THE NET GAIN IS STILL NEGATIVE WHEN YOU FACTOR IN HIS OTHER PATHETIC PLATE APPEARENCES!
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) LOL. Exactly. I suppose those 277 ABs with RISP where he hit RISP .332 .359 .466 .825 in 277 ABs over the last three years were imaginary. Just some mistake. All bloopers. Not important. Not nearly as important as being a leadoff hitter. Hitting with nobody on. I'd much rather him have that line with nobody on. Yah.... I know you guys hate Timo, but cmon, you're looking a little foolish at this point. he's not pinch hitting in that situation... He has made three outs already then comes through that one time in the 8th inning and you proclaim him your savior. If he starts, or see's action as a pinch hitter, he is costing this team games. There is no way to argue against that, not when you suck to high heaven in 75% of your at-bats.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) Unless he's actually pinch hitting, then he sucks again. Since JPhat is afraid to post his precious PHing stats.... Here's what Timo has done as a pinch hitter on his career. .211/.245/.295 Plus he's 0-9 when PHing for a DH which for some reason is listed as a completely different split... BUT HE'S A REALLY GOOD PINCH HITTER!!! :rolly
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) Not when you are a pinch hitter. Nobody here is trying to argue that Timo is a good leadoff hitter or table setter. He's not. He's horrible at that. His splits say as much. But when he needs to knock in the big run, he usually does it. Thats the bottome line. You are sitting there trying to argue that he's not a good leadoff hitter. I KNOW. That's not what I'm arguing. Unless he's actually pinch hitting, then he sucks again.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) Exactly. Look at those three year splits. OBP is really important for pinch hitters trying to knock in runs with men on base. Right. Thanks for playing. By the way, you seem like a nice guy, so I don't mean to throw this in your face, but you just wouldn't let it alone, so I had to you put you in your place about it. Nothing personal. So post his Pinch hitting stats..... THEY SUCK!!!
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Wow. For someone who spouts off numbers left and right, I didn't figure you'd be so ignorant. RISP .397 .419 .500 .919 RISP 2 out .412 .444 .500 .944 Men on , 2 out .296 .333 .352 .685 in 54 Abs Including numerous game winning or game saving plays. Three year splits Runners on .314 .338 .428 .766 in 428 ABs RISP .332 .359 .466 .825 in 277 ABs RISP with 2 out .323 .359 .468 .827 in 124 ABS. Anything else you'd like to say. That's fine... Those numbers only indicate how much he sucked in his other AB.... NEWSFLASH!!!! Most of your at-bats come without RISP, and they are almost equally as important as RISP, because they INDUCE RISP at-bats. All those outs he made when nobody was on cost this team games. But go ahead and point to that select 25% of At-bats where he a marginally above average OPS, then call someone ignorant. That will help your argument.
  9. When Juan Uribe is your best hitter, your team needs to be put to sleep.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) We've had this discussion before. And we disagree. Those numbers include when he starts. Since he has been with the team he has been more than adequate in PH dutites. He's won or tied numerous games the past couple of years in big pinch hitting situations. Fine, Look up his pinch hit numbers .... He sucks there too... Don't let a couple "game winning hits" distort your view.... f*** I'd ratcher have Kelly Dransfeldt in the line up.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) "Tell me when you hit it." Ok, Timo, how about with RISP? .200/.276/.320 line. How about with RISP and two outs? .250/.308/.333. How about with men on and two outs? .192/.276/.269. Yep, certainly applies here. The next "most important" hits come when leading off an inning..... What does Timo do in that situation? (Hint: Use ESPN splits.)
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) And the sad thing is right now if I looked at it, Ozzie and KW would probably bring back Timo next year for around the same price. screw that... Lets give him raise
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) The guy is a walking out, and a theif. Oh and 5 outs in 4 plate appearences today. Lets get him more at-bats.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) You really dislike Timo. The guy is a walking out, and a theif.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Good pitch by Marte. We need to get people on base for Everett and PK, because they're the only ones in our lineup who are dangerous. Timo is dangerous..... to our chances of winning.
  16. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) no no. I am not trying to start trouble. I dont remember Mauer ever plowing anybody over. And the Hunter thing was like 2 years ago July 24th, 2004 = 2 years... Is that the gregorian calander?
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Breaks just aren't going our way tonight. Breaks don't go your way when you have the outmakers at the top of the lineup, and 10-cent brain on the mound.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) The lineup tonight should of been Arow CF Gooch 2b Everett DH Konerko 1B AJ C Dye RF Blum 3b Timo Anderson LF Uribe SS
  19. This team is done... AJ gave up with Contreras last inning, and now he just gave the bat flip there.
  20. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) seriously folks. this is not the Twins I know. I dont have the stat infron tof me, but the batting average is terrible with the bases loaded Contreras' f***ing pea brain trumps all other meaningless split stats.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Minnesota has been one of the absolute worst offenses in the AL this second half. But they score 2. Will we score 2? They're scoring more runs per game in August than the Sox.
