QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) How about a double play? Contreras has the lowest double play rate of any Sox pitcher. He is the 20th worst in baseball in Net-double-plays (expected double plays)

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Hawk saying where's Griffey Jr. going to play? Translation = he's not coming here. Timo could be the permanent LF and Hawk would say "where would he play?" --- We would need a physical hole, I'm talking a real-life sink hole, at one of the positions for Hawk to criticise one of our own.

That was a solid first inning. Looked like the Red Sox and Yankees last week. They made the pitcher work. Sure they didn't score, but they saw a ton of pitches, and limitted how deep he can go in today's game. Of course now, Lohse will now use 45 pitches to record the next 24 outs as the Twins win 1-0.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) So what you're saying is that Paul Spoljaric was a good major league pitcher? I'd call him a servicable reliever at best. I'ts called 0wnag3 get to know it. Baseball-reference is a beautiful thing.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Who was the last guy for the White Sox that just helped from the get go? Pitching or hitting wise. I can't remember at all. Frank. Joe Crede.... .285 with 12 HRs in 2002 after being called up.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) Now, I already know how everyone will act if Anderson struggles for an extended period--some will call him a bust, others will regurgitate a slogan developed just for White Sox pitching prospects: "Need more time to develop." But for once every 10 years, it'd be great for a callup to absolutely tear up pitching. Our team needs a spark in the lineup. Hopefully he'll provide it. Carlos Lee and Maggs hit .292 and .282 respectively in 99, their rookie campains. Of course, that was considerably worse that another rookie, who finished ahead of both in RoY voting. Chris Singleton hit .300 with 17 HR that year. That's 3 homegrown products in 1 year who produced immediately. But yeah, once every ten years.

QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Cheat, is Doug Christie any good still? ask his wife? I'm not good with the NBA

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Sounds logical. Birmingham is in the middle of a playoff race. I don't think they're going to wanna give up their lead-off man at this point in the season. The Sox will make an organizational move, like Leo Daigle again, before they move Owens/Rogo/Young

We better keep Konerko, his numbers are just as...

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I was using Ramirez as the ideal. If you'd like I can go back to Carlos Lee. Or I can even compare this year's Konerko to previous years' Konerko...his hitting with RISP is down even for him, by quite a bit. RISP Stats fluctuate wildly from year-to-year!!! -

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Like I said, I like Konerko. I just think we can get about as much for much, much less. Like I said, his numbers with RISP are not good... You sound like one of those dumb Yankee fans who thinks that ARod's no good. "but he doesn't hit with RISP" By the way, RISP stats tend to fluctuate wildly from year to year. There simply isn't enough ABs to eliminate 'noise'. It doesn't really idicate a players true ability. -- Did Konerko suddenly lose his ability to be clutch? After all he hit .303 just last year w/ RISP. NO. It's all just random chance. -- The reality is, Konerko has a career average OPS of .833. His OPS w/ RISP this season is .864. -- But keep complaining. It looks good on you. :rolly -

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Once the lineup cards are handed in its up to the umps the red sox had absolutly no say in the matter. The umps have the final say, yes. BUT... All teams have a head groundskeeper/weather expert. The umpires are advised by these experts as to what the incoming weather looks like. They make a recommendation to the umps, based on playing conditions, incoming weather, and yes, even the game situation. -- Considering who employs this expert, don't you think there is a little incentive for the game to be called? It's not called home field advatage for nothing. At 7:00, there's no doubt in my mind that the field was unplayable. There was a large gap prior to then without any rainfall, however. Now I've heard that there was lots of lightening in the area during that time, and I can't speak for that, nor could I describe the field conditions at that time, but I suspect that if the Red Sox were leading they would have found a way to get those final outs in before the heavy stuff hit. --- Had the same weather conditions happened at Comiskey, they would have gotten at least 5 in for sure. Fenway and Wrigley are dumps. Piss in the OF and it's flooded. -

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) Preety stupid there was like a 30-45 minute period where it was raining at all. It was more like an hour 15, an hour 30, but Boston was losing. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) The last update was definitely not a recording. And there was not one visible raindrop falling on Fenway Pawk. Red Sox officials are dragging their feet. It's obvious they don't want to make this game official before any more heavy rainfall occurs. Yep, there was about 1.5 hours of playable weather between the two storms. Boston doesn't want to take the loss. This one will be called. OR they will shoot the entire ChiSox pitching staff except Adkins and Vizcaino before we restart. -

QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) For that matter why isn't Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High out on DVD either? 'N' controls it's rights, i believe.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) So, what would it take for us to give the Reds for Griffey?? 3+ prospects who aren't on the 40-man roster. Gio/Young/Liotta/Sweeney/Anderson(though he's too close to the show and they have a logjam at OF)/ -

From the radar, it looks to me like Boston has 1.5 - 2 hours of clearing before something else hits, beginning now. That should be enough time to get an official game in. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) BTW, if we do start again, Duque better not be on the mound. Absolutely no reason to risk any injury with him. Yeah, perfect time to get Cotts 2 innings of work.
