August 14, 200520 yr Not that this is a shopping list for the White Sox, but here are some big-named players that have successfully cleared waivers: Pedro Martinez, Carlos Beltran, Ken Griffey, Jr, Jorge Posada Full list of NY players to have cleared waivers. Edited August 14, 200520 yr by kdhargo
August 14, 200520 yr I know it will never happen, but KW needs to do whatever he has to do to get Pedro and Griffey
August 14, 200520 yr So just between thetwo NYC teams that was about 30 players that got listed... Yeah, I guess everyone doesn't hit waivers :rolly
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(kdhargo @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Not that this is a shopping list for the White Sox, but here are some big-named players that have successfully cleared waivers: Pedro Martinez, Carlos Beltran, Ken Griffey, Jr, Jorge Posada Full list of NY players to have cleared waivers. Why would the Mets put Pedro on Waivers?
August 14, 200520 yr Good thing the Sox don't have David Wright on their team. KW could have mixed his name up with Danny Wright, and just let a team pick him up without any compensation.
August 14, 200520 yr I would say we need someone but everytime we lose two or three in a row everyone says we need someone... We are just playing flat.. When we win a few in a row everyone is satisfied in the team....
August 14, 200520 yr I noticed this tidbit in the article: Of all the unrealistic trade requests (three top prospects for Jeremy Affeldt, two top prospects for Kent Mercker, two established top starters and a top reliever for Billy Wagner), the worst might have been Seattle requesting top White Sox prospect Brandon McCarthy for journeyman reliever Ron Villone. Get a grip
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(wsox08 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) I would say we need someone but everytime we lose two or three in a row everyone says we need someone... We are just playing flat.. When we win a few in a row everyone is satisfied in the team.... I don't think any of us were satisifed with the offense, even after winning two in NY.
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) I noticed this tidbit in the article: Didn't the Mariners ask for Grady Sizemore in exchange for Guardado? I also think the DRays wanted David Wright for Baez.
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Didn't the Mariners ask for Grady Sizemore in exchange for Guardado? I also think the DRays wanted David Wright for Baez. They asked for Wright or Reyes for Baez.

When we win a few in a row everyone is satisfied in the team.... This team has to many holes for me to be satisfied. I'm glad when they string a few together, but now I'm also thinking about starting pitching. I wont be satisfied until we are in the WS. :banghead
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) They asked for Wright or Reyes for Baez. Chuck LaMar is just totally insane.
August 14, 200520 yr Pedro? Griffey? Beltran? Do it. Buuuuuuuut not gonna happen. I'd take Griff in an instant.
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) Chuck LaMar is just totally insane. Yes, yes he is.
August 14, 200520 yr Here's where I get scrambled. What are all the things that need to happen for the Sox to land a guy who has cleared waivers?
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Here's where I get scrambled. What are all the things that need to happen for the Sox to land a guy who has cleared waivers? Well, since they have cleared waivers , it means all that has to happen is the Sox and whatever team have to work out a trade.
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Well, since they have cleared waivers , it means all that has to happen is the Sox and whatever team have to work out a trade. But can't other teams somehow block the trade?
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) But can't other teams somehow block the trade? Not after the player has cleared waivers.
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) But can't other teams somehow block the trade? No. If they wanted to block a potential trade, they would have had to claim the player in the 72 hour period after he was placed on waivers. Once a player clears waivers, he can be traded to anyone. The only way for a team to block now is to offer a better deal in trade for the player.
August 14, 200520 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) So when they say "player X" cleared waviers, does that mean he cleared and now its over, or does that mean he cleared, and now any team can make a trade proposal to him?? Once a guy clears waivers any team can make a trade for that player.
