Temple's Chaney should be fired...
Gene Honda Civic replied to Goldmember's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
So what do you guys feel should be done to coach K? -
Guys lay off Silvy. It's part of their schtick. Last night he and Carmen were at Harry Carey's, Carmen wore a Sox jersey and goaded the Cubs fans all evening. You can't be mad at Silvy for bringing up the cubs, and then laugh when Carmen bashes the Cubs.

exactly Pahlehose... Goonery is a common practice. Cheney was the one who brought it up at the presser after the game, and apologized, and then excused himself for a game. No harm, no foul. Oh and you should save that Duke link, it's going to change like the MTV page that listed a "big Surprise" for last years superbowl. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) 'Zona's quietly back in the mix of things this year. They beat Washington 57-56 last night. Last night's victory gave Lute Olson 304 wins in the Pac-10, tied with UCLA coach John Wooden for most wins ever in the league. That was Washington State... It's sorta like the difference between beating Michigan and Michigan State. (sorry brian) -
QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) I don't know why, but I predict Ozuna being the kind of player Timo is. A talented guy with good tools, not an everyday player, but no slouch either. It'll be interesting to see who gets that final spot. I don't think being similar to Timo would be an asset to making the bench. First of all, we've got enough free-swingers(read: never walk). Second, I want versatility in my bench guys, Timo, umm, isn't. can't hit lefties, can't take a walk, can't steal a base, zero defensive range, and that ugly one handed glove work that would have made me have to run laps in little league. It seems to me that Ozzie has far too much influence on player personnel decisions. He thinks because he somehow squeezed a 16 year major league career out of a .287 OBP that others should be able to do the same. And hey, what better place than Chicago? QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Valdez will never hit enough...i say Ozuna, since he can play 3 positions. Valdez will never hit enough? He's a career .289 minor league hitter, and .311 last year and .295 in '03. I know Ozuna's minor league numbers were listed earlier in this thread, but you have to temper his .317 avg with knowing that he was probably about 4 years older at each stop than is listed. Neither of them can take a walk to save their life. Are you judging Valdez on his 43 AB's he had in september? That's a mistake if you are. Edit: I missed jim's post. I don't wanna seem like I'm piling on. But I agree with him.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) The guy's a meathead, of course, but I found this quote rather amusing: I included that one on purpose -- MJ&H were bustin on him pretty hard tonight. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) How come that monstrous link somehow converts into the M&M site? I have no idea -- LOL -- I have the Iguchi thing saved on my desktop. I clicked properties while it was playing to get what I thought was the location of the file. I guess not... I'll find it http://mfile.akamai.com/10869/wmv/mlb.down...i_email_350.asx Hopefully that works

I thought that Iguchi looked like Bret Boone in that video... He's definately not Ichiro! mms://a1594.v108691.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1594/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/2005/open/teams05/cha/video/021605_iguchi_email_350.wmv

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) What a wicked cool dynamic interface. I have some friends at the Smithsonian marine station down here that would kill to be able to get some of their multi-year census data into an interface like that. Any of you web geeks know exactly how this works? What kind of data base is it and how does the interface applet tie into it? It's Java.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Anyone else having trouble with Owner Mode? How do you make it so you get a good, steady cash flow coming in?? Pitching and Defense

That circle is actually there. How do you think they found it?

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Actually, the relation is quite simple. BMAC has prooven nothing at the major league level yet he's already dubbed the messiah of upcoming Sox pitching prospects. The point is just because Jon Rauch is not who YOU THOUGHT he would be, has no bearing on wether or not Brandon McCarthy is a sucessful Major Leaguer. And his timeline shouldn't be effected positively or negatively just because Jon Rauch didn't impress you in your one drunken outing to the park. McCarthy is entering his 4th season in the Minors. Again, He has ZERO bearing on McCarthy's future. At least you closed with a origanal joke.
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) The only reason I'm even saying this is because last time we had this much hoopla over a pitcher, his name was ... Jon Rauch. Here I thought the second coming of Roger Clemens was emerging from our system, and when he arrived - at a game I attended - he got rocked for about 11 runs in the first inning? I'm not sure the exact run total, as I was probably too drunk by the end of the inning to remember...mostly because I did not want to remember...but whatever it was, it was BAD. I see no correlation between Rauch's injury, subsequent surgery/loss of velocity/stuff/top prospect status and Brandon McCarthy's timeline.
-
My thinking was that Owens/Young, Sweeney, Anderson, and Rogo would be together as a group being minor league OF'ers in big league camp -- Pitchas/SSs are off doin their own thing.
-
QUOTE(Y2HH @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) What is all the BMAC hoopla as of late? Is this guy not like 4 to 5 years of seasoning off of being ML ready? :banghead More like 14 or 15 :rolly

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) He's supposidly retired. Yet he was last active yesterday at 2:44. We'll see how long he can stay away. So far Minny and MOS are both supposedly gone for extended periods of time but we'll see. You've got to use the PM feature to recruit members for your "new and improved" board you know.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) I dunno but the guy top left almost looks like Diaz, perhaps. My thought was that was Young or Owens, and Sweeney is the one whose face is hidden.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) I think Rogo is behind the wheel. That's what I thought from the size of his arms, but his melon looks almost normal in that picture.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Lazy asses! Who do we got here? The only one I recognize is Anderson sitting shotgun.
