  1. Looks like one of the admins needs to enable that functionality since they moved this forum. I'll make sure to ask someone other than Jason.
  2. Of course the cynic in me tells me Josh Fields is on the Carlos Lee track to the Majors... He may be at 3B all the way to the bigs, but from what I've heard about his defense, he may have to find another position.
  3. I got an advanced copy a couple weeks ago. Havin connections is cool. The day I got it, I changed by screen name(which changes about every couple weeks) to Sepia Toned Lovin' over at BTF.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) i honestly think it was the ump who over reacted in this case... and you all are just letting your hatred for Sosa get in the way of that..... but hey if an ump wants his 15 mins of fame let him do it during spring training. CB Bucknor has been behind the plate in the World series. I'm sure he thought throwing Sosa out of a ST game would be his ticket to stardom though.

  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Kenny Lofton was great. Your crazy...he lead off, got hits, stole bases, scored runs, and was a verbal leader. Oh, and he played good D. What more can you ask for? PLaying after May 1st would be a help.
  9. QUOTE(moneyman6544 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) Why is everyone so excited to have him in camp now when everyone is also saying that he will be gone next year? Don't beleive everything you read in the paper. Otherwise we'd be four time defending AL central champs, and the Cubs would be defending their World Championship.

  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) That's just wrong, funny but wrong. It was my goal to work octogenarian into one of my posts. Mission complete. I will sleep well tonight.
  14. This was my favorite part of the article.

  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) James determined there is a positive correlation between run production and stolen base percentages above 70%. Pods helps in that regard. I can't argue with that, but I reserve the right to scream loudly at my TV anytime one of our runners is thrown out.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Where would you bat timo? I would definitely bat him 3rd or fourth becuase he is so ''impressiv'' with men in scoring position. I'd hit him second... Tony third, and Eduardo fourth. I'd lead off which ever of the Low-OPS all-stars has the best OBP, and I'd pick names out of a hat for 5-8. Pitchers have to bat because Santiago Perez was the next best Perez out thier, and I think the Pitchers could out hit him.
  19. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) How many runs did Pods .800 OBP in the past two days lead to? 1>0
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Wait, you're going to use 2 spring training games for your argument. That's a joke. Perhaps you'd like Mark Kotsay over Pods who had a .370 obp to Scott's .313 last year. Kotsay also had the better hitters in back of him, yet Mark doesn't run at all. Scott still scored more runs then Kotsay last year. Now I'm not saying scott doesn't have to get on base more this year, cause he does and I'm almost certain he will but to say stolen bases are meaningless is a complete joke to me. Hells yeah I'd take Mark Kotsay over scooter. SB's mean nothing. In 2004, there was a negative correlation between runs scored and Stolen bases. Baseball is about scoring runs. Correlation to RS BA - .80 OBP - .87 SLG - .92 OPS - .97 SB - -.16 Chicks dig the longball, and so do I. (I'm a sucker for the suicide sqeeze too, but those actually equate to runs scored)
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) In other words that no one could beat them. That's an impressive offense... They'd be good for maybe, maybe 600 runs a year. The pitching staff is rather impressive. Better than league average. They'd finish with a record near the 2003 detroit tigers. They'd lose more than 100, but I'm not sure they'd break the record.
