  2. QUOTE(poorme @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) can you get team stats? sometimes you can see s*** that'll never happen in real life...like harris gets 600 ABs and hits .211. No, the guy just wrote a script to run 1000 seasons, taking W,L, RS, and RA data for each team. Even he doesn't know how the yanks managed to lose 91 one year.
  3. another set of sims -- this one includes random injuries, which increase the wildness in any one given year, but that's offset by running 1000 sims. # of Seasons 1000 High High Team W L RF RA DIV WC Wins Losses American League East Boston Red Sox 96 66 933 762 678.7 210.0 117 83 New York Yankees 91 71 867 772 275.7 379.5 115 91 Baltimore Orioles 82 80 838 829 26.3 90.0 103 103 Toronto Blue Jays 81 81 788 782 18.3 77.0 98 99 Tampa Bay Devil Rays 72 90 707 805 1.0 7.8 90 109 Central Minnesota Twins 81 81 784 787 378.5 6.3 99 104 Chicago White Sox 79 83 783 809 257.8 6.0 101 102 Cleveland Indians 79 83 803 818 255.5 4.5 100 104 Detroit Tigers 75 87 788 835 99.7 2.8 94 108 Kansas City Royals 68 94 750 894 8.5 2.0 91 114 West Oakland Athletics 88 74 829 749 450.5 77.3 107 95 Anaheim Angels 88 74 831 774 417.5 82.0 106 94 Seattle Mariners 81 81 796 794 110.0 46.2 100 100 Texas Rangers 75 87 825 896 22.0 8.5 96 108 National League East Philadelphia Phillies 90 72 773 689 453.7 137.8 110 102 New York Mets 88 74 759 699 315.7 162.3 109 95 Atlanta Braves 82 80 758 749 118.8 88.3 105 100 Florida Marlins 81 81 713 703 65.5 75.8 99 100 Washington Nationals 80 82 689 697 46.3 34.8 101 104 Central St. Louis Cardinals 98 64 786 634 929.5 34.5 116 81 Chicago Cubs 84 78 742 699 63.0 207.6 102 104 Milwaukee Brewers 76 86 705 751 2.5 31.2 96 104 Houston Astros 73 89 704 788 3.0 10.0 94 107 Cincinnati Reds 73 89 748 819 2.0 8.0 92 110 Pittsburgh Pirates 68 94 671 794 0.0 2.0 89 121 West Los Angeles Dodgers 94 68 756 655 841.8 29.2 113 87 San Diego Padres 83 79 745 718 112.0 122.8 103 96 Colorado Rockies 77 85 819 861 27.0 28.8 97 106 San Francisco Giants 75 87 751 807 11.3 17.3 92 107 Arizona Diamondbacks 74 88 728 801 7.8 9.8 94 112 These sims hate the Giants...
  4. The other sales went a little awry also.... http://www.washingtontimes.com/sports/2005...20139-5767r.htm
  5. Carlos Lee leads all of baseball so far in ST in HRs and RBI, with 4 and 11 respectively.

  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Just saw this thread. I'm in the process of sifting through the thread, and seeing if there's anything White Sox related/AL Central related in there... yeah, I wasn't around... I searched for a bunch of white sox related names. The only thing that came up was McCarthy in a fantasy question.
  13. It says he didn't throw this spring, but that's a lie... The Cards played an intrasquad game and Ankiel pitched. Apparently he only threw 3 strikes... in 24 pitches. My guess is the descision was made then.
  14. .175 average -- I doubt I'll ever do any better.
  15. No use being productive at work today, what's the best you can get for an average at this game. http://www.steriley.com/speed/ The best single time I had was .136, the best average I got was .187, but that was after quite a few tries, and a lot of 1 second penalties.
  16. I'm going to bury this up here, because if I gave it it's own thread it would quickly degrade into a flamewar about our cheap owner. Tigers Owner, Illitch: I'll Spend until we Win It should be noted that Illitch bought the team in 1992. The Tigers have had ONE(1993) winning season in that span.
  17. After tossing the league into a spreadsheet I realized That I overloaded on PO. It's just a points league, so It's pointless to win by more than one in any category. So I adjusted my team to pick up some more assists. Starting IF is now 1B -- Sean Casey 2B -- Orlando Hudson SS -- Orlando Cabrera 3B -- Omar Infante
  18. So I was browsing through the Yahoo available leagues tonight, and I came across a league that said "pitching and defense" That's right, NO OFFENSE. Needless to say I was very curious, so I signed up.... Here's my draft. C - Micheal Barret 1B - Sean Casey 2B - Orlando Hudson 3B - Chad Tracey SS - Pedro Feliz LF - Craig Wilson CF - Brad Wilkerson RF - Shawn Green BN - Chone Figgins BN - Jerry Hairston Jr. BN - Mike Piazza SP - Pedro Martinez SP - Roy Oswalt SP - Jake Peavy SP - Carlos Zambrano RP - Joe Nathan RP - Guillermo Mota P - Francisco Cordero BN - Braden Looper BN - Zach Greinke Here are the categories. Defensive Stats: GP, GS, PO, A, E, FPCT Pitching Stats: APP, GS, W, SV, K, ERA ------------ You'll notice I did nothing but take guys who could play multiple positions, specifically 1st base... 1st base gets more putouts and assists than any other position. I think I destroyed everyone in this draft. I didn't draft a position player until round 8.
  19. Of all the off-season articles I have seen written by a national media outlet, this one is the best. Neyer has a grasp on the history(both recent and ancient) of the Sox, and accurately describes the current offense as a good one. Nowhere does he say anything about "lack of power" or the like. He recognizes it's not the hitting that has been a problem, it's the pitching. All around solid F'n article. I just wish we could get stuff like this more often.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Question non fantasy league related. How come whenever anything is in a table format it doesn't align for me in Mozilla but if I look at the same thing in IE it is prerfectly aligned? Any ideas, thanks. I have no Idea.... it's fine for me... Just to quibble, that's not a table, it's pre-formatted text, which should align properly no matter the browser.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) "With the 1st pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Hornets select.....Dee Brown, PG, Illinois." That would be a terrible pick -- I think both Williams and Head have better pro futures than D. Williams is a big true PG Head has vastly improved his stock, and can be a ben Gordon like player... D is in between PG and SG, and doesn't really have the size... Best case scenario for D is Williams leaving early this year, and D proving that he can run the point being the only option.
  22. I took the stats listed(2004) from each team and tossed them into Excel so you can see how each team did in the draft....
