Jeter+Mussina=Pirates
Gene Honda Civic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
That thread title had me going WTF? at least the pirates aren't in the same division. Last year the same thing could be said of Jetah+any number of yankees of your choosing vs. the D-Rays. I don't know what the D-Rays payroll is gonna be this year, but it can't be much more than last. -
QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Mom always said "Don't play ball in the house." Broke the TV was in quotes because I took the fall for it... I didn't do s***, but it was at my GF's friends parents place, so at the time I figured I was the least likely person there to ever return. I would take the fall. I don't talk to that GF anymore, but I am pretty close with her friend. I never would have guessed that all those years ago.

McCandless girl, 17, wounded by boyfriend can I get a WTF?

QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) It went up a nickel in New Jersey. 1.74 for Regular, and all the stations are Full Service. Yeah, what's that about? Who's idea was it to start an entire state of people who can't pump their own gas?
-
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 08:30 AM) Holy rip off batman! I filled up Brian's Mustang on Wednesday at 1.97 a gallon and I went yesterday to the same gas station and it was 2.18!!! I was sick to my stomach after that. Same story here.... I drove by a station in the morning and later last night, 23 cents difference.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Get off the Harris Kool-aid.. He is a failure. Thru age 26 Orlando Cabrera -- .258/.309 Willie Harris -- .240/.305 I would think that you were erecting a shrine to WH in you basement by now.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) He also has a REALLY nice condo in New Buffalo MI that he weekends in. My friends parents have a place there. But I'm not allowed back because I "broke their TV".

The RPI this year is a joke... The beauty of the old RPI was it's simplicity... -
I'm not taking the bait... get a clue

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) Well he was a real Chicago cop before he became an actor.. On a side note, I actually knew Farina when I was in HS. I worked at the local country club where he had a membership. Really cool guy, down to earth, and not pretenticious at all. I like seeing him have some success. I got the same impression of Farina just before my 21st B-day. I was hangin out in one of the few Chicago area establishments that I knew I could drink at, and the only one in the loop, it was earlt to be drinkin, I think I was waiting for a friend to get outta work early in the Sears, anyway long story short, I shared a brew at the end of a bar with Farina. Really cool guy, I do remember I asked him Cubs or Sox, and he said Cubs. Can't win 'em all I guess. I'm pretty sure he still makes his home in ChiTown.

I didn't see it, but on the strong characters quote. That's the beauty of L&O, the character development in any single episode isn't that great, but given time each character becomes very deep in their own storyline. This way the only way they can "jump the shark" is having too many shows. Oh, and I saw a repeat of the first episode with Dennis Farina the other night. I hadn't seen it b4. Boy did they set him up for a fall. Which is exactly what I thought watching him in some of the other episodes. He's either IAB or on the take.

St. Paddy's is for amatuers anyway. Professional drinkers don't need some stupid snakes-outta-Ireland holiday as a reason to get pissed.

Saw this quote on another board. it needs to be read here.

St. Paddy's fall during spring break? or is this some bizarre chambana town ritual?

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 03:54 AM) Does Contreras come off the books next year? no
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) From the Cubune; I know he's Korean, not Japanese, but it appears as if the White Sox have become one of the prefered destinations for these asian imports. Of course, this one could have something to do with Man Soo's influence, but Shingo, Iguchi, and possibly this guy. That's a trend.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Someone throw out that RISP stat for Perez that makes him SO IMPORTANT again. EDIT: Ahhh here we go; BA/RISP .397 Don't get me wrong, I think he's demonstrated on his career that he actually does hit better with RISP. .318/.350/.436 on his career. But the rest of the time he's terrible. Getting on base is just as important as driving 'em in. And on average in MLB last year only 27% of all PA's came with RISP. Now here's where someone always says, "well he's good to have as a pinch hitter" -- His career .213/.244/.288 speaks otherwise.

Zippy's for me... That would kill you no doubt though... 9" cheezy beef on Garlic isn't exactly good for the heart. They have a ton of different stuff on the menu I could survive on.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) FREE WILLIE! LOL I just changed my name at BTF.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) I want to start the "Keep Willie, trade Timo" Club. Cheat, wanna join? That would be a club I would join.... On a related note, I think I may have been the originator of the "fan club" -- I was on the Lovie Smith bandwagon as soon as he was hired... This was in my sig Official member of the "Lovie Smith Fan Club" since 1/15/04 2:30PM CST most of last off season.

This sentence pissed me off What? Willie Harris gets on base at a .360 clip vs. righties, and can steal bases. Timo Perez? how is this guy blocking Willie? He hardly broke the Bowa Barrier last year vs. righties(.264/.301/.368)... I railed on the need to get a platoon partner for willie in the off-season. After all he's terrible vs. LHP. (.186/.234/.233) Yet, demonstrating his prodigious ability in outmaking, Timo is even more inept in that department too(.154/.201/.191) Timo blocking Willie! What a f***ing joke.
