  1. Gay marriage was a brilliant strategy on Rove's part to win this election. They knew the amendment would never pass on the federal level, but if they made it a big deal and left it up to the states, there would be plenty of homophobes and zealots (is there a single reason to oppose gay people getting married other than religion or hatred?) who would run to the polls to pretect their tiny-minded view of the world, and along the way, vote for that nice man who could be their next door neighbor, if he wasn't ungodly freaking rich and powerful.
  2. Edwards still has a political future. Kerry doesn't. Edwards wants to do what's best for him, his party. Kerry wanted to do what's best for him, the country.
  3. Here's what I don't get. Back in the 60's there was fear that Kennedy was too closely tied to the Catholic Church. That the pope, his religion, would have more influence than the will of the american people. It was a silly notion then, but now 40 years later, it's the main asset of our president. WTF happened to this country?
  4. All exit polls had the race going the other way. They had to be cautious that the vote would swing back the other way.
  5. I think she might hold you to that.
  6. As discussed in another thread, exit polls (we know how reliable those are) showed that over 20% of people cited Morals as the #1 issue this election, more than any other single factor. I'm baffled by this. WTF is Morals. Was one of the choices AMORAL? I have a lot more questions, but this should be enough to get you started. Discuss.
  7. I'm gonna go out an bash me some queers today.. YeeHaw.
  8. There was nothing that shocked me more than these bills passing, and not by small margins. These were uniformly landslides. It's sad. I think it comes down to an embedded Homophobia. People watch "will and Grace" or "queer Eye" and their OK with that, but they get inside that little booth where they ANONYMOUSLY vote. It reeks of the NIMBY philosophy.
  9. Try this guy, he's been involved in both of them
  10. And the absetee vote and recounts were supposed to break Bush's way in 2000, yet they didn't.
  11. DB, it's all posturing because last time they were to quick to concede... Last time the recounts were halted by the supreme court and the election given to Bush.
  12. I don't know if you'd like that. I know this thread would be about 100 replies shorter for me
  13. Yes, Inaguration isn't until February.
  14. Assuming everything holds, I'm going to walk away from this election with a couple of things: 1) Forget the polls, assume the states will remain static from previous election. 2) For the states to not remain static, they need inertia, and the inertia will be driven more by personality, not issues. And that's sad.
  15. Here's to hoping you've found a hobby by then.
  16. I can feel the hate for president Bush in my bones, but I'm going to print out that post and laugh myself to sleep tonight.
  17. Is his cousin still making the calls?
  18. I've heard gammons/some ESPN talking head saying the same thing last week too.
  19. The saying is that it's easier to win your 10 GG than 1.
