  1. Where is everybody? I think I should start a game thread.
  2. Nothing to do with C&P, but... I was rehashing some of my past RAGBRAI's with a buddy online tonight, and I thought of you heads. Most days tend to blend together, but I vividly remember my afternoon in Oelwein. That day I fell in love with a young lifeguard at the local pool. There's no way she could have been any older than 16 . So what's the name of the super hot brunette who worked at the community pool? I must say I love those corn-fed Iowa hotties..
  3. I was looking at the stats, and something JUMPED out at me... Shoe has struck out 26 batters in 19.1IP, that's 12.1K/9IP --- A ratio nowhere near the norm for Shoe. I've got to believe that he really has had some success with the new pitches Coop's got him working on. He may not have a good ERA, or even a good WHIP(2.17), but with continued work with Coop, he could surprise all of you who have written him off completely. He had his best year for WHIP(1.26), BAA( I'm sure Bullard could chime in on this, as he is going through a change in arm slot/ throwing style, There is a steep leaning curve when you're learning new pitches.
  4. Thanks Rex... I found 'em over at Chisox.com... They weren't up earlier in the sring so i just assumed there wasn't really an outlet for ST stats... His updated stats are something like this: 10IP 2.7ERA 6H 2B 7K -- which still doesn't include is "B" starts
  5. Let's compare... Illinois Since '98: 6 Tourney appearances. Average seed: 3.83 1-Elite 8 Michigan St since '98 7 tourney appearences average seed=4.42 Average seed 1- National Title 3- Final Fours 1- Elite 8 I epanded it too 7 years to point out true consistency.... However if you want to compare over the last 5: Michigan State has 2 Final 4 appearances, A NATIONAL TITLE, and an Elite 8 compared to just one Elite 8 for Illinois.
  6. Yeah they play at the same time on wednesday morning too... I assume that will be on ESPN as well, though I'm not positive. EDIT: 56789 -- Answered more accurately.
  7. I know it will be rebroadcast at a more American-friendly time... about 12 hours later.... 4 or 5 PM..
  8. Only 9 hours until the baseball season starts. 4AM central time. I'll probably be watching. The Cheat's bold prediction: D-rays win
  9. That's exactly what I said in the other Cott's Thread. But I think that Shoe might open the as the #4, that is unless he was the unnamed player in KW's doghouse.
  10. With him only going 3 innings this late in spring, albeit three impressive innings, It appears to me that he is currently fighting for a bullpen spot, Long Relief. That could change however if SS struggles continue. I think it's likely that he opens the season in the pen and is moved to the rotation after a couple lackluster SS starts.
  11. They should just start engraving the trophy now.
  12. Anyone know Cott's full ST stats? I don't know where to get info like that... I'd specifically be interested in his ERA, K/BB ratio, and WHIP...
  13. I agree with jason on this one... Although only if Cotts is used regularly out of the pen... If he just festers there, which can happen when you're carrying 12 pitchers, then that will actually retard his development.

  15. It's gonna be tough... I just mizzastered this newfangdizzled jive-talk... now I've got this new speech pattern to bring back... It's a heavy task, but I'll bring it back. Fo' shizzle.
  16. I want to single-handedly bring back the word Baseballist... I'm going to practice. Frank will hit the mostest homeruns because he is the best baseballist on the White Stockings.
  17. I wrote a huge responce to dan, that was apparently so large it crashed my computer when I hit POST. It basically said this: - I went to Iowa State -- Like heads said. - I haven't claimed the tourny was boring since the first round... Which was brutally close to chalk, and as we all know produced none of the trademark Buzzer-Beaters™ - Given enough chances, the "clutch" shooting will trend towards the shooting percentage for the entire tourney. - That's the reason I've been pointing out the late-game ineptitude of the Tourny field this year -- If that makes me an ass then -- even though the previous 0-18 has no bearing on the future games, It seems highly unlikely that the tourney will finish 0-20 or something like that with a chance to win or tie. - Let's hope that the final 3 games can produce a few Great games -- I'm thinking 90 or 92 East Regional Finals good... -The last reply was at least 5 times this length.
  18. ISU was 2-3 vs. teams in the Elite 8 1-1 vs. Kansas 0-2 vs. OSU 1-0 vs. Xavier
  19. Addressing the concept of "clutch" -- It's from baseball prospectus, but can be applied to most sports. http://premium.baseballprospectus.com/arti...?articleid=2656
  20. it's all just your perception... the shots should still fall within one standard deviation of the norm. A shot that is made in the first 10 seconds of the game is of the same value as the shot in the last 10 seconds... I'm just pointing out that they should be made at a better rate.
