QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) On a far more down to earth and real level, this is the headline on CNN.com right now "Death toll rises to 16 after tornadoes roar through parts of Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky, authorities say." Voted for Hillary.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) WHY NO ISSUES? The American public doesn't vote on issues. They vote on fear, and the candidate they'd rather have over to dinner. I hear Edwards chews with his mouth open.

I just turned on MSNBC to watch Obama speak... I love the dichotomy of the left sidebar 10% reporting in CA, Hillary with about 80% more votes than Obama, and the bottom factbar "NBC News: CA too close to call."

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) Now I haven't read the last 8 pages of the thread, but for me, as I have just caught up, it's pretty much shaping up much like I thought. Hillarity is pulling down a lot more then what people thought, I think... or am I wrong? Was anyone here predicting landslide victories for Obama? I think what we (I can say we, right?) were hoping for was for Obama to take 9 states, crush Hill in IL, and keep the delegate count a wash... I don't know what it will look like at the end of the night, but there appears to be a chance for Obama to be ahead (in delegates) at the end of the day. That's hardly what you've been posting in every thread. For weeks.

That says pretty much everything you need to know about the auto industry. "Here are the keys to a brand new Cadillac Escalade Hybrid." Seriously. Cadillac.Escalade.Hybrid. Wrap your brain around that one.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) And this is some cool s***. Eli's got to be the MVP of the SB. The Manning Bros. win back to back SB's and SB MVP's. How come the bears suck so hard? They've got two Mannings.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 3, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) Did Belichek really just leave the field without shaking hands? he did shake hands, but he decided to do it before the game was over.

I still say f*** the Dolphins. But it's gonna mighty hard for Pratt to argue about the the class of his buddy Bill now. Leaving the game early.

QUOTE(shipps @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) I have heard this stat thrown out there a few times, and then I thought Chris Shelton. So you're comparing the 25 year old poor defensive 1B rule 5 pick let go by the Pirates to a 23 year old plus defensive corner outfield top prospect?

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 2, 2008 -> 12:21 AM) Oh, and in general, his supporters tend to remind me of Larouchites. And that's a little freaky. Hey man, I voted for Larouche the first time I could vote. Just because, you know, I could.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 1, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) Seems that the immediate consensus after the debate was Clinton won. Today the consensus is that Obama won. Very reminiscent of the way Bush "won" debates in 2000 and 2004. If only Barak could play the "I'm not a good debater. I spent many of my formative years speaking Indonesian" card.

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Feb 1, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) It doesn't surprise me that there is a disparity, because this business of ranking baseball prospects is such a complete crapshoot. Take a look at past Baseball America lists and note what sort of success they have at predicting Major League success. My favorite is the #8 (#8!!!) prospect on the 1999 list. Without even looking, I can tell you that particular prospect aged 4 years soon after that ranking.

QUOTE(rockren @ Jan 31, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Lets not forget Law worked for the Blue Jays when KW dealt them Sirotka for Wells. Remember how KW seemingly mocked Toronto management in the media after they complained about Sirotka being damaged goods? Law hates KW and the WSox. Yeah, who was the GM in Toronto then, Gord Ashe? Do you think Gord Ashe hired a Baseball Prospectus writer to work in his front office? f*** no. Law was hired by JP Riccardi, a year after Ashe got s***canned in part because of the Wells trade. By your logic Law never would have been hired by the Jays were it not for that trade. Nice try at revisionist history though.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 06:29 PM) Well, in my opinion Konerko and Dye underperformed. Crede was out for most of the year. Iguchi did not perform well, and our not being in contention was part of why he was traded and we had Richar's production. You can claim that our players played to their "career" averages all you want, but with many in their "peak years" in a hitter friendly ballpark (where there "career" averages were not compiled), I'll argue to the end of the earth with you that what we got out of most of our offense was on par with what is expected of them at this stage of their careers in this ballpark. Name a Sox hitter last year who was in his "peak years" last year... They've got a bunch of over 30 talent, which is declining exactly as you'd expect over 30 players to decline. -

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) This is actually one of Dayne's better columns, IMHO. At least he acknowledges that SOME improvement has been made. I guess I just wish, however, that one national columnist would point out that so many of our guys underperformed last season, making the 72-90 record somewhat of a mirage. I know Sherman has stated we are "underrated." But I want to hear some more people acknowledge our improvement. That's the problem, they underperformed your expectations, not their career norms. Thome and Konerko were right on their career averages. JD had 20 points shaved off AVG/OBP. Pierzynski was below his career average, as he has been in every season since he left Minnesota. He's just not the same player anymore, and a terrible guy to extend a year before his contract was up. I'd argue that last season is about all we should expect out of AJ for the next 3 years... Crede was terrible, you've got one there, but he's not gonna be around. Iguchi's power was down, but he was only around for half a year... And Peter Pan and Tinkerbell performed exactly how any rational fan expected. Buehrle, Garland, and Vazquez pitched well (and Garland's not around anymore)... Contreras is the only one in the rotation who had a poor season. The bullpen was terrible, but they're volitile and had a bunch of young guys without much in way of track records. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) How many minor league option years does Anderson have left? The folowing exchange cost Anderson an option.... That the Sox couldn't wait two days for rosters to expand, and needed Podsednik for those two games, cost Anderson an option... That was 1. He didn't use any in '06, spending the whole year with the big club. He used one last year getting sent to the minors in April. SO he should have 1 remaining.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 26, 2008 -> 06:18 PM) Then there is also that letter stating she was spotted in Kentucky with some guy. Oh yes. Drew himself has received multiple letters and multiple phone calls from people claiming to have seen her. These people are either crazy, stupid, or both. I mean, lets just say you saw Stacy Peterson at the mall today. What would you do? I would 1. Alert local authorities. 2. Alert the Bollingbrook authorities. I would never write a letter (look up the home address/phone number) of her husband. How f***ing nuts do you have to be to do that?
