  2. I'm glad my Game Thread record won't be taking a hit after I was second fastest to create it. Perhaps tomorrow, or when they play the Cubs. I hope they sweep Minnesota, because Minnesota.
  3. I am honouring the last solid White Sox RF acquired via the Jake Peavy trade to Boston, for my 26th win with 26 rep points earned on July 18, 2023.

Does not include days I tied for first but for whatever reason was placed second / awarded Silver:

    • 3/23/21 (7 bmags)
    • 9/11/22 (16 Fathom)
    • 9/19/22 (13 Balta)
  4. DJ questioning Tim's decision to not flip to Elvis to attempt the double play. Nice play by Colas in RF.
  5. Will be facing Lance Lynn with a Friday start, a battle of the overpriced end of the line finger pointers.
  6. The Sox have their best starter on the mound since he was acquired, and hopefully they can win a few games here for the fans still watching. Facing Verlander, so that may be an impediment to victory. He is 22-14 with a 3.72 ERA lifetime against the Chicago White Sox. New York is a -204 favorite, the White Sox a +185 Underdog and a -110 pick'em via the + 1 1/2 run line. Hal Linden as Dylan Cease Gregory Sierra as Reynaldo Lopez Abe Vigoda as Eloy Jimenez Maxwell Gail as Lance Lynn Ron Glass as Tim Anderson Jack Soo as Yasmani Grandal Steve Landesberg as Lucas Giolito Ron Carey as Andrew Vaughn
  7. Not necessarily impressed by Pedro, but too early to tell at this stage with a few months and a few good players at his disposal. The one area of improvement is actually trying to win ballgames with late inning substitutions you rarely saw under Tony. Also, if the increased focus and motivation continues, especially after the expected trade selloff, than that is a hell of a lot more than Tony ever mustered as the team quit on him after the Yermin incidents, with the Cornfield game while Tony was away attending a funeral in Florida the lone exception. Would say Jerry Manual would be the modern day equivalent at this stage.
  8. I mean MMA, UFC and whatever else is out there.
  9. I’ve muted Hawk and Jason when over the air broadcasts were a thing, either played radio audio or music. I liked Hawk’s support of the White Sox players, and both seem to be nice people, but I couldn’t adapt to their broadcasts (Hawk’s incessant whining over umpiring and Jason’s buffoonery and shouting on calls like it’s a Human Cockfighting or Wrestling Death / Cage Match). Stone is a good analyst, and it’s good he dropped the Twitter trolling of fans, who have enough pain and suffering supporting this team. I’ve always enjoyed the Sox radio teams over the years, and also Vin Scully, Ernie Harwell and Harry Kallas over terrestrial or MLB.com radio feeds. Harry and Jimmy were my favorite pairing, the best mix of honesty and entertainment.
  10. Disabled means someone with restricted abilities, either long term or permanent. Injured denotes an injury an athlete is expected to recover from over time and possibly physical therapy. Incapable describes one’s limitations or talent, such as Grandal’s inability to catch breaking balls, or Madrigal’s inability to make smart baseball decisions at any facet of the game. The word Eloy is an amalgamation of all three words.
  11. I agree, and not even because of Hahn and Co.'s incompetence of sifting through and obtaining the best players, but rather to maximize money off the books. I expect Lucas coupled with a Grandal or another cost they want off the books that no team would accept without the Lucas sweetener. I expect them to keep Robert and Cease not because they actually intend on competing over the rest of their contracts but rather to have something to sell fans for 2024 ticket sales which will drop even further than this year with even the casual fan realizing Rick Con has not and cannot put together a quality team. They will say they are confident in their prospect return, like the Cubs did when they traded Darvish for nominal prospects, but in reality I wouldn't expect much back unless they surprise me and trade guys and eat their 2023 / beyond contract money for max prospect value. Hell, I expect Jerry to throw in International Slot money now that they can again.
  12. Allegedly Eloy was available off the bench tonight, but hard to believe after they used everyone else and he would have been a good PH option if available. Hopefully he is healthy enough to DH in NY. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/white-soxs-eloy-jimenez-available-off-bench/
  13. If 4 + pitchers are shipped, then I really hope they trade / release Grandal and Andrus, let rookies / young players play regularly. Pitchers are a different story, they just need to patch together 8-9 innings a night. Sox can save bullpen arms by losing regularly on the road.
  14. Nice Game Thread run @flavum! Hope they can continue to play hard and make games interesting, at least until the trade deadline, perhaps beyond if they don't ship many out.
  15. Lucas' first cost the Sox tonight, but it was nice to see them battle back. They were playing corpse ball between July 2021 - ASB 2023.
  16. Living the Vida Lopez! 35 pitches, 5 batters LMAO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p47fEXGabaY/
  17. Don't want to risk injury, but Cease is a better hitter than a few on the team, wouldn't mind see him pinch hit in the 9th. Fear injury from Cease less than Eloy, just have him be cautious running.
  18. Remillard has played 19 games in RF his entire life (13 starts college/minors/majors) until last week. Looks worse than Sheets out there (about Jake Lamb equivalent). Andrus would have batted for Colas and Perez for Zavala, then Perez stays in and Sheets goes to RF, leaving no bench since Eloy is crippled. At least you have Zavala catching still, Perez is still a work in process. If Haseley were up, he could have hit. I would have been fine having Colas hit as well.
  19. This is where not having a bench hurts the team. And Sheets is going in anyway for Perez, but couldn't bat for Zavala because he doesn't hit against LHP. They need to send Eloy to the IL and bring up an adequate OFer.
