  1. Great news as I hoped. If we want to go far in the playoffs we need Robert. Plus if Eloy comes back and we still have Vaughn in the OF, Robert can make up for those other two in the outfield based on how much ground Robert covers.
  2. Agreed and if he continues these weak pathetic numbers, wouldn't it be prudent at some point to just cut him, or as they the baseball verbiage goes...put him on assignment. We are only paying him 7 million. Eaton's last 5 games are 0-16 with 11 K's. We have plenty of other choices and very easy to find a .214 BA in the lineup for right!. Plus he is a terrible fielder in right as well.
  3. This is your full statement: "Can he make EVERY play that any normal left fielder can make? If he can't, then this is a ridiculous experiment. Because this isn't a developmental league". I am not judging the first part of the statement, but the latter part of your statement you seemed to have forgotten to post: "If he can't, then this is a ridiculous experiment. Because this isn't a developmental league"! In my opinion you are rushing to judgment on Vaughn and assuming he can't or telling us what the end verdict should be. All I am saying is so far he is making the routine plays and until he can't make them....we shouldn't have anyone playing left except Vaughn. We don't need the ultimate verdict of not playing Vaughn in left, until he makes it clear he cant play the position.
  4. I'm glad TLR is being blasted in the media nationally. In fact he can't get enough negative criticism for this recent blunder. TLR has already made numerous bad calls this young season, which probably cost The Sox several wins already. If TLR had any class and dignity, which obviously he doesn't, he would walk into Reinsdorf's office today and thank Jerry for the Sox manager opportunity, but graciously resign as manager. It's unfortunate and sad that what should happen; won't happen. Also shame on his bench coach Miguel Cairo for also being ignorant and not advising the senile TLR the rules for extra innings in 2021.
  5. I agree with you it that it is puzzling and super concerning that the Sox have so many hamstring pulls. However let's assume the Sox have a competent medical staff along with their trainers and strength-conditioning staff. Regardless of that expertise...and let's pray and assume they are very good....even if the staff has given the players a specific competent exercise, strength and stretching program of pre game/off season specific exercises, the bottom line is, the players have ownership here and must still diligently perform set given exercises in the most thorough and quality manner possible. If this continues throughout the season then we have a bigger problem to deal with.
  6. As with any comment on this forum, it's based often on opinions besides facts. My comment was based on what has been reported by numerous sites and Rick Hahn. Eloy's injury - He had surgery Tuesday, March 30 to repair his ruptured left pectoral tendon. It's been documented per numerous sources and Rick Hahn, the recovery time frame is 5-6 months. The Sox season ends on Sunday, October 3. AL playoffs start Oct 5. That puts Eloy's recovery time to the end of Aug or end of Sept. Even with a short stint at Triple A Charlotte, it is very conceivable he could be back for the playoffs, assuming we make it in. As a side note, the Triple A Charlotte season ends on Sun, Sept 19 if either of these two players need to do a rehab stint at Charlotte. Luis Robert's injury from the game on Sunday, May 2, which was a grade 3 hip flexor tear will be 12-16 weeks or 3-4 months. That would be early Aug to early Sept. I understand nothing is for sure and complications can arise. However I like to be an optimist and assume since both of these guys are great athletes and very young, that they will work hard and diligent with the rehab to recover in time. I rather think positively and if they don't make it back, then so be it. Again, this is my opinion just like all these forum discussions are opinions along with facts.
  7. Agreed! Just wish Grandal and Eaton could start hitting. How embarrassing for Eaton and Grandal when the team gets 13 hits and 9 runs and Eaton goes 0-3 with 3 K's and Grandal 0-2.
  8. Agreed and Eloy and Robert will be back in time for the playoffs.
  9. I think the Sox are trying to get more innings for him on the fly and build up his arm to be a starter this year. I think he becomes a starter near the end of the season and definitely in the playoffs...which hopefully we are part of.
  10. I totally agree on this lineup. Keep in mind once a healthy Robert is back, he can make up for Vaughn and Eloy because Robert probably covers more ground in the OF than most other CF's in baseball.
  11. He can and should occasionally to give Abreu a occasional day off.
  12. So far the experiment seems to be working, so I wish you and all the other Vaughn cynics would quit being so negative on him and quit assuming the worse that Vaughn is going to be a bust, or isn't ready for the major league level. His BA is .273 and OBP .359 which is tied with Robert (out) and second only to Madrigal .366, Moncada .375 and Mercedes .430. Plus he has ZERO errors. The fact is most left fielders do not have great arms...hence why they play left. Or perhaps would you prefer to put Garcia in LF at .203 or better yet, Lamb at .143?
  13. Then maybe its time to have him learn an easier position than catcher, like IB or the outfield.
  14. That might be true, but it doesn't make any sense for the Sox to close the door on that assumption until they at least attempt to train him to learn how to either be an effective catcher or 1B. So what happens next years if hypothetically Mercedes has a great year, Vaughn too has a great year and Robert and Eloy are back healthy? Do they keep Mercedes at DH, Vaughn to left and Eloy to right?
  15. Well we wont know that until we at least give him a start. At least Mercedes would add some offense where as Grandal is pretty much a routine out every at bat. I get Mercedes isn't going to get much if any catching starts this season. Yet next year he better work his ass off in the off season to correct that.
  16. I like that idea. Abreu better be patient tonight because there is no way that Abreu sees any pitches in the zone with Eaton behind him. I would also drop Grandal and let Mercedes catch.
  17. Agreed provided Eaton, Abreu and Grandal start hitting like they should.
  18. Oh you mean like last game vs the Indians where Lamb went 0-3 with 3 K's against all right hander pitchers that game? Vaughn couldn't do any worse?
  19. As long as TLR is the manager, probably very good odds. Why wouldn't TLR sit Vaughn when he can start .143 Jake Lamb or sit Madrigal to start .200 Garcia.
  20. Right now the only good thing about Eaton is Hahn was able to trade him away for Giolito, Lopez and Dunning. Giolito is a keeper, Dunning is the main reason we were able to trade for Lynn and Lopez is going to hopefully work out his pitching problems at Triple A Charlotte starting this week. Whether Lopez ever turns it around or not, we definitely won that trade with the Washington Nationals.
  21. Hahn is an excellent GM/VP thanks to Kenny Williams out of the picture of any major decisions. However unfortunately, Reinsdorf shoving LaRussa down Hahn's throat was simply wrong on so many ownership and leadership levels.
  22. That is the major problem since he does have the support of the owner. Let's face facts, if Reinsdorf didn't get involved with such a stupid decision, Hahn would have never hired LaRussa.
  23. Well the one that will properly prepare them for physical exertion as you say...isn't being educated to some of these Sox players. Even Tim Anderson said after he came back off the DL, he was going to be more responsible in his preparation to avoid future hamstring strains.
